Dynamic Product Delivery Question - Help Please

3 replies
Hi guys,

I have seen various folks give away free products to build their lists. Curious about
the setup I have subscribed to quite a few and what strikes me is that most people
do the same thing:

Once subscribed to their aweber newsletter list they send you a thank you mail which
directs you to a download page on their website to download the product. The link is
exposed and not protected or encoded in any way - probably only protected from
search engine bots with a "nofollow" tag.

I am wondering is there a more sophisticated method that can be used in combination
with aweber to deliver free products with dynamic links so that every person that receives
an email get's their own unique link? Not only is it more secure and lets only folks
that subscribe to your newsletter get the product but it would also let you do
statistical tracking etc.

I would love to get an answer to this problem that has been bugging me for a while.

Thanks

John

    John, it's a really interesting question. I'm afraid I don't know the answer. Have you thought about asking the big autoresponder companies if they have this facility?

    John,

    I have done what you are talking about using Autoresponseplus3, ARP3. While the syntax is different, the implementation should be the same.

    With ARP3, when I send visitors to a page (any page), I often tack on the visitors email address (or name), something like this:

    http://www.example.com/downloadpage.html?{EMAIL}

    or

    http://www.example.com/downloadpage.html?{FIRSTNAME}

    I also have StatCounter Free invisible Web tracker, Hit counter and Web stats code installed on that page. I can then tell who has visited that page.

    I think it is possible do have this with any autoresponder script and/or service.
    What you need to do is to send visitors to a thank you page with a unique code for each visitor.
    And also on the thank you page you can check to see if that unique code has been used before.
    If yes, redirect them somewhere else.
    If not, let them see the download page.

    That's it I think.

    P.S
    Thought better
    Might not work with get response because with them you do not have the redirect url in the code they give you when creating a webform
