Recommendations for PLR Wordpress themes?

Hi Folks,

Does anybody have any good recommendations for PLR wordpress themes?

I want something high quality, with admin options to change things up. The design has to be web2.0 high quality, not a rehashed old theme with the header changed.

The rights need to include the ability to change footer links, brand it as my own and give it away free.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've already googled this - just after ideas that might not be appearing in the first few pages of google.

Cheers,

Leigh.

All of the PLR WP themes I've seen are fairly basic. I don't think you're going to find anything that comes close to what is available on the premium market as a PLR.

The only thing I can think of is to buy a developer's license for a Premium theme. That's what I do.

    Here's what I do:

I purchased Artisteer, one of the best investments ever!

I load it up and keep hitting the "random" button until something catches my eye (normally after a couple of minutes).

I spend 15 minutes tweaking the theme then export it as a WP theme, after setting the author details etc.

Twenty minutes later I have a decent theme to do what ever I want with it. The only thing you can't pass on are any stock photos but these can easily be replaced with free ones if indeed you need any at all.

I agree with Suzanne, I've searched high and low for a premium theme with PLR and resale rights and they don't seem to exist. They are very basic with a plain header that you can change out and then just your basic homepage with posts listed.

You could try Atahualpa. If you donate at their forum then you receive instructions for removing the link from the footer.

You can design your own look and export the settings, so when you give it away, just include the settings file.

The premium themes I'm aware of that are GPL generally don't have a problem with removal of footer links when you use them in your projects. But I don't know anyone who gets excited about seeing the theme they put a ton of work into being made available for free download elsewhere on the web.

You can try getting a custom theme created for you? First get a psd made to your liking, then get someone to convert it to XHTML / CSS and then get it converted to WP.

Altogether, you'll end up paying $500 or something, but at least you'll have something decent to give away.

or you could just learn CSS and XHTML.

It's really simple to create/modify a WordPress theme to be what you want it to be. I always make my own for a new site. When I'm between projects, I'll start a new theme and that will often lead me to a new project.

Of course, it does take a little time to learn how WordPress is built, but I've got themes that I designed for WP v2.3 that are still working today on the newer versions. Some I've updated for new code, some I haven't touched in years.

@Suzanne - your idea is the winner so far I've found some good stuff searching for "premium theme developers license"

@Shane - I went the custom route, and the developer sent me a pirated Woo theme hehe. Curretly disputing that in freelancer.

@David - I also have Artisteer - I use it for my own blogs. But I wanted something a bit more special with additional features.

Something you need to keep in mind if you go this route, a developer licence is not the same as a resale licence.

Many of the developer licences are for using the themes to develop an actual site (on a top level domain) for a client, not for redistribution of themes as stand alone sales.

Basically, they don't what somebody to sign up as a developer, change the footer code and turn around a resell the themes as a stand alone product.

Correct. To resell, you need to have a site on it. Doesn't need to be sold with the domain though. I sell my niche sites as PLR sites with a premium developer license theme and I've got this cleared with the seller, because they are actual sites with content ... not just a template.

Yes, and no. Woothemes, which you use, does allow what you're doing with your pre-built PLR sites, however, Elegant Themes does not. Every developer has their own TOS.
