best way to find out whats buzzing in my country

what would be the best way to find out the top ranking searches in my country.. ( i have a copy of market samurai)
im currently jsut doing google insights.. but this gives me no insights on traffic , and I only see a top ten of searches.
or I use ms to research topic per topic..
isnt there a better/ smarter way to find out what searches would generate max traffic?
