Photoshop Design to WordPress Theme

I have a client who had their web site design done in photoshop - how they want the site to look.

We now want to use WordPress as the CMS for the site.

Any recommendations on best/most economical way to convert photoshop design to WordPress Theme.

Thanks
Jack

Anyone tried these guys at codemyconcept(dot)com? I left them a message yesterday and nobody has returned my call yet. Their prices seem reasonable but with no phone call yet I'm a bit hesitant. I would love to hear from someone who has dealt with them and had a positive or negative experience. (other than BlueSquares, obviously he had a positive experience)

      Thanks,

They recently ran a 20% discount to their past customers. I suspect they're hammered with work and emails right now. The last time I contacted them it did take a good 48 hours to get a response.

Ofcourse, do your due diligence before hiring anyone.

I'm trying to cheat a little bit and get my due diligence done on the Warrior Forum. LOL.

So I take it you're happy with them? Do you use them exclusively? They claim 100% satisfaction guarantee and to code to w3 compliance and all, so it does seem like a fair deal if they really come through and produce nice site.

          Thanks for your reply, btw.

I totally hear you. And good job checking references first. You'll probably get a better response rate at Sitepoint than the WF, though. Most people here don't know about PSD to WP conversions.

I used them 1 year ago, in 8/2009, to convert a PSD to XHTML. They rendered the XHTML in 2 days flat. I was impressed by the clean, well commented code. There was a minor bug in IE7 and they responded within 24 hours with a fix.

Since 8/2009, they've added PSD to Wordpress conversion services. I personally haven't had a PSD converted to WP by them (yet) but I would trust them again with my business. The last time I contacted them was July 2010 and it took them 24 hours to respond, btw.

Are there cheaper people out there? Probably. But remember the mantra...Fast, Good or Cheap. Pick two. Caveat Emptor.

Regardless of service, make sure you create the extra page templates you'll need (single column, etc) when submitting the gig. There's a big discount for extra pages. By default, they only create one index template.

            Good luck!

P.S. Having killer WP themes designed and distributed for free can heavily increase backlinks and SEO Ranking. Just think about the "footer".

I remember browsing the Warrior For Hire section and there's a couple people who will do it there for less than $50 I believe.

Depends on how complicated it is - I definitely wouldn't do it for $50!!

And be aware that even at codemysite or whatever it is, the price quoted is only for an index and single posts page.

The most economical way is to find a freelancer on a site like oDesk.

But dont get taken by people who make this seem harder than it is. I turn PSD's into WordPress all the time.

Anyone with any skill can take a PSD and create an HTML/CSS mockup in 1-2 hours. From there they just take the html and css and integrate it into an existing WordPress theme such as the Twentyten theme and that can take a few hours. So don't let them over charge you for a job that is about 6 hours worth of billed work max.

That site above looks to have done quite a few and done them well.

One thing to watch for is "coders" (term used loosely) who will chop up the design into various images and dump them in to html/css when a few lines of code would do the job and would load a hell of a lot quicker.

      Hi,

There are a number of companies that can convert your PSD design to HTML / wordpress.

Do a search for "psd to html" on google - lots of serious companies will show up.

I have been in contact with csschopper (.com) because I've heard good things about them.

I chatted with Victor (online supporter). He was friendly and seemed to know his stuff. I will give them a try next week and let you now how they perform.

      Have a nice day
