How much commission for $1000 to $5000 product?

I have a product which I am building along with this sales person. We are not sure about the price of it yet, and will be playing with different numbers - between $1000 to $5000.

My question is how much should be his commission for that product? He won't be selling it online, he will be traveling/demoing/etc.

  • I recommend 50-75% commissions.
I'd be tempted to go for 50% for something so high priced though.

When you have a better incentive, you get more affiliates.
It also inspires your affiliates to be more effective.
They'll put the extra effort in to get more sales if they know they will get more in return.

    • Well, he will have "exclusive" rights to sell that product. I cannot have any other sales person but him. So, now what should be his commission then?
  • I would say 75% commission for the sales he brings in. All profit on your end, just hope that he sells like a maniac. On a product at this dollar amount, you are still banking it pretty good and gives him more motivation to keep selling, selling, and selling. This is just my opinion.
  • Why not meet in the middle around 60-65% in his favor?
