What is your opinion on putting personal photos in facebook where readers & followers are friends?

To have a personal connection with my blog readers is definitely a goal but I am really confused whether it is ok to publish personal photos on my facebook album.

More than 50% of the friends there added me because they read my blog.

If you think it is ok to put personal photos, where do you draw the line?

It should increase personal connection with people because they would feel that they know more about me but at the same time it should not look narcissistic.

Would like to know what you think....

Pictures of you on vacation? Cool.

Pictures of you at last night's stag party? ...probably not cool

I agree...I wouldnt put anything embarrasing of yourself on there or anything that would get you in trouble. Vacation pics or birthday pics and such is good.

I would add photos - I have them on my facebook pages about my (now grown) kids; the tattoos we have done, art I have finished. I don't put in anything embarressing or what I would call "bad taste" and I think it helps for people to know I am human and I do have a life outside of the internet. Plus which I am now a doting Grandma and have to show off a little bit

    hi

One time i heard an interesting story.

An employee lost her job thanks to the vacation photos on her facebook page. Reason?
Well, she took time off because of her illness. Then she left on holidays. Her boss have found the pictures on her profile site. She was very suprised after she came back.... :-)

so, it's bertter to watch out.

Most of my facebook friends are actually my subscribers (I include my fb link in my email newsletter).

And yes, I just post all my personal pics there as well...

Not everyone is comfortable doing that... but my rationale is... what's there to hide?

Building a "personal connection" is a great idea. However, you can only do so much with words alone.

Adding a few pictures is not narcissistic at all, and is actually expected on a Facebook page. In other words, NOT having any kind of pictures may create the wrong impression.

As others have mentioned, just be careful about what type of pictures you post.

    All the best,
    Michael

p.s. I only have a small handful of pictures on my Facebook page. 5 of them are from our vacation at Disney World, and there are 2 pictures of me from 1987...longer hair and all.

I try to be transparent online. My facebook has pictures of me partying. I like to have fun and if someone doesn't like it they shouldn't follow me.

I don't have kids but if I did I would keep them off my facebook acct mainly because it's not my decision to compromise their privacy online until they are old enough to compromise it themselves

The actual purpose of social networks is to be social and nothing to hide. But if you choose social networks for business you will have to limit being more personal. Again I am not misleading you from the actual path of being credible(images/videos) on social media but just notifying certain limits when you have professional network though you are connected with friends.

Photos should be for friends. Although I find it annoying when people upload lots of the same pictures!
