Good e-book creation software for Mac?

Can anyone recommend a good, cheap (or free...) ebook compiler than will run on Mac OS X 10.4? I can't seem to find anything reliable in Google. It's not that I'm opposed to purchasing something, it's that I'm broke right now. LOL

By e-book compiler do you mean something that converts your document to a PDF?

If that's the case, just use Open Office and save it as a PDF.

Yeah, I know that'll work. There's a program I downloaded for Windows today on my laptop that actually adds the cover image, a table of contents, information for publishing, digital rights management, etc... I can't remember the name of it already, but it did books in the epub format... and I was looking for something similar on the Mac.

you can alter or create a template and use iPages. Or you can alter the format of a Keynote Presentation, save as a template and use Keynote.
