Marketing noob seeks advice!

Hello everyone,

I'm a Visual Communication graduate a few months into my first full time Graphic Design role. I work for a small company in the drinks industry and I'm starting to find (like many other Designers out there) that it's expected of me to provide all of the company's online marketing - a field that I have no formal training in and very little experience of! The problem is made worse by the fact that the company's online presence has really started to nosedive over the past year or so - and i'm being looked upon to get us out of the rut.

I have read a few books and tried to gather as much information online as I can. However, i'm wondering if anyone here can provide any advice or links to good online resources to get me going.

All help appreciated and thanks in advance.

J

Does your company have clear objectives of what they want to achieve? What do they want people to do on the website? I find that the best place to start is to have a clear and documented Internet Marketing strategy (I got into IM as a result of doing online marketing for my offline business) PM me and I will send you the info on a brilliant book on an IM strategy and how to execute it for offline businesses.

Well, "online marketing" is quite a wide term. Do they want that you write a blog for them, make them known in the social media, make press releases?

      Or maybe all of it?

Get a quick glance at The 30 Day Challenge, I could also send you a PDF or two regarding advertising and online stuff, PM if interested.
