Hey there Fellow Warriors..

I suppose am not the only one on this forum to get tons of junk email in his inbox everyday.I am just curious...

Do spammers make money?are there any people who buy from this junk links given?

The question is to ask, when u subscribe to a new list, they all say "We hate spam as much as you do.We will never share your email for any reason" .LOL

i would imagine they do make some amount of income....other wise they wouldnt exist i wouldnt think, but i wouldnt think that it would be very consistent at all... just a terrible way to go about doing things in my opinion

Would your advise of thief entered in your house? I think spammers are just like thief (entered in the house without permission) and most of the house owner will not like to listen his advise. They perhaps gets some sell but they can not build big business.

yes...they do....but you have to realize that it is done in volume. If you send out 100,000 emails a day and you get a .05% return on a product that makes you $10 per sale, then you will make $500 a day.

And 100,000 emails harvested is a very small operation for the typical spammer.

Yep, they sure do. Hell, those viagra emails and forum links are proof positive. If it didn't work, they wouldn't be doing it. Server farms are NOT cheap to run.

No, but they're probably a lot cheaper to run now that any desktop machine could be someone's remote server. Botnets are nasty, and they're a big source for a lot of spam and phishing mail.

As far as money... Some of them do very, very well. And more of them are ending up in jail recently for the methods they use to make that money.

My husband used to Gamble and was quite good at it but no matter how much money he made it never lasted very long; easy come easy go.

I think thats what spam earnings would be like never really satisfied always needing more and more... I don't think it is a fulfilling way to earn an income, I can just imagine how fulfilled the lives are of the full time MMO marketers and others on this forum. They offer great service and have built up real businesses as real as any brick and mortar businesses.

Spamming is IMHO the drug dealing of the online world you can make a fortune but you will never be anything but a spammer.... some people are happy with that.

Spammers that use Black Hat stuff always make some money but you are right it never lasts long as the hosts get closed, ips get banned etc....

Not to mention that email lists with our email addresses in them get sold on and on, there is no end.

Surely it's a terrible way to make money...But they DO make money..And that's what concerns me...I wouldn't buy from someone i don't know at all.And he/she sends emails every day to me, this gets on my nerves..How can people buy from spammers i will never understand.I suppose they don't know that buying a product a spammer proposed, they make money from it.Anyway...

people still buy because of the "wow" factor of some of the promises..... when spamming they're bound to reach many "desperate" people to prey on... sucks but its true...

  • I read of a guy that made $50K from email spam. Some place in Europe. Then the law caught up to him and fined him 7 figures.

You have to remember that a lot of these guys are in lawless countries and or are in areas of high unemployment that no matter how small the amount they make it's still money.

Then there are those who are true scammers pulling millions.

Clearly ethics are out the window.

I think they make money but my "worry" is that the money they make does not last for ever and they may never live long to enjoy it because I was told that there has never been an old criminal.

Dmitris, I think it depends on your definition of "spammer"...

Defined as the one originating the message, I would imagine the profits are pretty slim on most of them. They pay to send millions of emails, hoping to catch a tiny fraction of a percent of the gullible.

Defined as the ones who provide the infrastructure and the dubious service of sending those millions of emails, they make a bundle.

Back in the gold rush era of the internet the big spammers were making millions per year. I recall one guy in particular who made close to $100 Million total. I don't remember his name, but a photo of his house and cars leaked onto a forum back then. But this was all way back before spamming was illegal and people actually read the spam they received.

I think yes they do but it's not sustainable they're not building a business with a future.
If you build a genuine IM niche business then maybe one day you will be able to live on the residual income or sell it for a tidy sum.

If your a spammer you will never have a business you can sell or live off. Spamming is job and an illegal at that.

Yes, they do. Every now and then when I am getting rid of spam, I will email or pm a spammer and ask what was the point. Only 1 time I got a reply. They said: "Because it works"

You remember that thing where you click an image that says "Whiten your teeth for $1" or something like that? I'd like to know how those ****ers got my email address? I've never clicked those images.

Are they just affiliate marketers buying email leads? Hell, that could be any newbie.

Even some well known gurus do that, too. Even though you unsubscribed from their lists, they continue to send the email after email. I remember two gurus (popular clickbank vendors) send me email constantly promoting products. I got so fed up and had to unsubscribe from their lists. But the next day, he sent another email promoting. I unsubscribed it again but again he would send the email. Later on, I got so upset that I sent him an email to STOP emailing me.

That finally did it and he stopped sending me any more emails. Gosh, was that a pain... lol
