I heard from some people about a $5 per month hosting site? Anyone know what site they were talking about?

    Hostgator - Hatchling Plan - $4.95 a month.

But like everything else, you get what you pay for. Do not expect to put a high traffic site on a $5 plan.

Cirtex is pretty cheap, and they also have decent quad core servers, making them considerably faster than the shared server I currently have with HostTurtle.

?????? A "shared server" means that its shared by lots of people. Most servers that customers share resources on are at least a quad core server.

Cirtex, hostgator, bluehost,,,,, usually run the same types of servers for shared accounts.

The best IMHO is Byethost. They are fast...good uptime...great support (forum & ticket) and cost about $36 for a year including a .com, .net or .org domain name.

I started on their free servers ages ago and upgraded. Never had any serious problems and have every confidence in them.

I still have a couple of free accounts with them too which I use for testing niche sites and blogs. These free accounts are ideal for prosecuting plans such as Zeus66 blogging empire blueprint using the Wordpress blog platform.

Well, my URL shouldn't be too hard to figure out. I'm a domains/hosting reseller for a major provider, currently set to 4.00/month for single domain web hosting. 7.00/month for unlimited domains (but 25 databases only). Other plans. I don't know if noobs are allowed to post link here, but it's not a bad deal. Can delete if this seems out of place.

    Hostgator or Bluehost.

I've hosted sites doing 10-20,000+ uniques per day on their cheapo plans without any problem.

There are many hosting companies out there that cost around $5 per month (but you have to prepay in most cases for a year or longer). You probably don't want to go for a fly by night hosting company you've never heard of before though - I'd suggest going with someone reputable like Hostgator or Bluehost, I don't think they cost a whole lot more than the competition who is selling hosting at absolute rock-bottom prices.

actually there are alot of hosting provider offering such a low price per month. but you need to take into account their service too. Such as hostgator, the services provided is outstanding and it is totally worth to buy from them.

I tested for my own hostgator and I can say just good things about them. Their hosting company is well known and if you check for hostgator reviews you will get 99.9% of positive reviews (if not 100%).

Using a $5 hosting account is a good option to start off with, but as your business and websites grow then you will have to upgrade as you will most probably need more space, bandwidth etc
