Newbie refuses to hang up his gloves...

Hi,

I know you have probably heard this a thousand+ times, but your inside and help will be really appreciated.

I am suffering of the typical Information Overload and need some guidance.
I have the determination to make this work and either I'll make it work or I will die trying.

I have all sort of information about different business models- Ryan Deiss, Perry Belcher, Jeff Johnson, etc. However, I don't know where to start.
I'm in the IT industry (Win Admin) so the technical part is not an issue.
English is NOT my first language, so copywriting is not my strong area. I am reading about and practicing as much as I can my writing skills, which still suck.

I thought about joining Chris Farrell site but I'm not sure about that.

Can one still be profitable doing niche blogging? Sort of like Josh Baulding's style.

Is affiliate marketing the best option to start?

I lack of ideas selecting a niche to work with. I mean, I know about computers but I see thousands of sites about computer, technology, etc.

Like a said, any help will be appreciated.

    It's great you're determined, JD.

    However, having other people tell you where to start is likely to get you answers which only reflect their personal favorites. This won't help you at all.

    If you already know all the technical aspects of setting up websites and blogs, then you'll have to choose a model which is most appealing to you.

    You pick one method, and stick with it.... do it... live it... breathe it.

    There are very few people that teach real copy writing. There are lots of tips and and helpful programs. But copy writing is a skill, not a business model. So you will likely have to find a real copy writer with a good course to help you there.

    Ultimately, which model you use depends on how much you can spend upfront to market your product or affiliate products.

    Some models are based on using more paid methods than others. Most people don't do well at these if they have never used any paid advertising.

    Other's teach basic skills upfront, including traffic generation from multiple sources.

    These generally cost you less than the paid models.

    So, the bottom line is, you have to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses HONESTLY, and then apply the model that you can leverage best.

    No one knows that answer for you without having worked with personally.

    Stay well, stay determined

    JD,

    The only way to lose is to quit!

    I cam e real close myself a few times and am so glad I didn't quit. This business takes patience and perseverance as well as work.

    Those 3 qualities are a lot hard to come by than you would think.

    You'll hear the argument of passion vs profit which means going after what you love or going after what gets you paid. I say you can have both.

    If you love to get paid...market the things that are selling.

    Affiliate marketing is a great way to build a business that can pay you over and over for work you did once. That's a good model for sure.

    Some great comments have been made in this thread and focusing on your strengths is always a good idea.

    You're an I.T. whiz...people hate when their pc's act up. An ebook or video series on speeding up your pc could be good.

    Make sure to build a list, treat them like gold, suggest products you truly believe in and help people get what they want from life...it will come back to you.

    Best of luck...let us know how you get on.

    @Nickitta
    Thanks. I will take it in consideration.

    @Chris Kent

    I a hard worker Latino who loves computers, spend time with my family and music. My life is pretty much be at home with my family, work, church and back home.
    I have been in the IT industry for 8 years. I mostly do Windows System admin stuff. I love gadgets and hacking stuff. Not in the malicious hacking way, but breaking things apart, finding out how they work, sort of the stuff you can find at Hak5 website.

    I have to admit that in the past I've tried to many things at once without accomplishing anything. I blame that to my lack of determination and organization among other things. This time I'm looking and taking this as my business. I have created a home office and have prepared it to be a positive area where I can work and feel inspired. I even register a company name. I did something broad not specific to any niche since I can always use a DBA.

    When I'm determined to do something, I do it. An example of this is my weight loss. I used to weight almost 240lbs two years ago with a 40 hitting 42 inch waist. I lost 50 pounds in less than 6 months. I currently weight 190 and have a 34 in waist. I completely modified my eating habits and did not do it by myself, I got my wife involved and we now eat very healthy and are teaching our 6 year old girl to be healthy.

    I love playing music too. I play a bit of guitar and piano and play the alto sax and clarinet.

    My real friends are not into IT, so I would say that being a computer geek makes me unique among them.

    @hmigroupllc

    Thanks for your advice. You are very right.
    I guess I'm trying to find out those business models that still be used. I've heard of some big affiliates moving away from affiliate marketing, others complaining about not getting paid, etc.
