Question regarding ebay store

Being a complete novice to IM, i figure it would help to begin my career with something I have expertise in.
This being said, my expertise is in the field of kitchen/bath design and sales. I would like to take this skill to the next level and promote myself online.

My initial thought is to set up an ebay store catering to the sale of kitchen cabinets and appliances. I'm a trying to be pro-active and start from somewhere and not spend countless hours just reading posts all day long and being tempted by the multitude of wso's available.

Essentially, I need advice on how to do this.
Are there manufacturers that would allow me to sell their cabinets/appliances in my ebay store and if so how and where can i find them? Then there comes the issue of logistics: if and when customer's purchase how do i coordinate this with vendor.

Did any of this make sense ?

All and any of your advice is thoroughly appreciated.

Thanks all and have a great day.

    I applaud you taking action!

So I guess your question is around the wholesale practices of cabinet/appliance manufacturers.

I think if you are experienced in kitchen/bath design and sales you will have some expereince in this space. How do you do it now? Buy in bulk? Order individually?

On a seperate note before jumping in maybe a little more thought around what you actually want to achieve "online" might help here

Are you looking to establish a brand? Sell based on price (often a race to the bottom)? Offer some particular service? Or do you see an under-served niche?

Can you offer a unique service? etc etc etc

I'm not looking curb your enthusiasm (no pun intended) but maybe help you refine your focus....

    Hope that helps

    Simon,

Your questions are very insightful and ones i hadn't pondered. I guess that's why I am here right ... lol

Basically, my design/ retail experience comes from working for a "big box retail store". In essence, I never had to order individually or in bulk, as orders where handled directly by the store I worked for. On this note, my dilemma is finding suppliers that would let me sell their merchandise independently.

Being that I don't have massive funds or warehouse to store the merchandise, I would place order through vendors once customer places order. I guess my question at this point is, do vendors allow this and basically how do i find them? The vendors I dealt with had exclusive contracts with my store so they are out of question as far as that goes.
Typing, I am realizing this is going to take lots and lots of research but a good starting point would be appreciated ....

Pardon my ignorance, my complete experience has been offline and I don't know how things work online.
