Do I Start A Blog For My Website??

Hey All

I am after quality traffic for my website, but not sure where to start.

I know there are TONS of ways to drive traffic, but are struggling with some of them especially article writing.

Would it be worth to start a blog and link back to my site, remember I am not the best writer!!

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Werna

that's the lazy way. if you hire a freelancer you can expect a template with 0 visitors. why even have a personal blog when its not personal?

That's completely untrue. Or, maybe I should clarify and say that's only true if you hire a crappy writer who has no clue (or no desire) to create content that matches your style.

I've written plenty of blogs for people, and along with giving me their target keywords and such, many of them also tell me what kind of personality they want in the blog (for example, one guy told me to be direct and blunt, and pretend I was having a conversation with a bunch of 20-somethings). Or, if they don't tell me, I head to their website and get a feel for their style myself.

To the OP - If you admit that you're not a good writer (and don't feel bad, there are many, many people out there who cannot write), you can still start a blog, but I would suggest you outsource the writing. You can still play a big role in how it operates - i.e. coming up with topics yourself, setting the tone, deciding how you want everything to flow, promoting it off-site, etc.

However, nothing's worse than trying to read something written by someone who can't write (or worse yet, thinks they're a good writer, when they really aren't) THAT can guarantee you a blog with no traffic.

Yes! Adding a blog is a great way to add fresh content and drive links to the "money pages" on your site. Outsource the articles-you can find good writers for $1/100 words.

If it were me, I would only do it if I knew I could create content
on a consistent basis or at least pay someone to be consistent for
    me.

Or if you will only be posting here and there, make sure your posts
are of high quality and engaging.

    Just my thoughts. Good luck!

    Hi Werna...

Yes...there are lots of ways to get quality backlinks. So just start!!

As far as your blog. Use it. I was in the same position as you about 5 months ago. I didn't think I could write quality articles for my blog. But I tried anyway. The first article took a few days to write, mostly because I wanted to get it right.

Now...I have over 50 articles written for my blog and over 30 articles submitted to article directories (of those 10 have been published in Ezines).

Just trust in yourself....you can do it. The more articles you write.....the easier it is to write articles. You will get faster at writing over time. At least give it a try. You have nothing to lose.

    Good luck with your writing.

Blogs are good for getting free traffic. Optimized blogs are great for getting free traffic. Optimized and niche focused blogs are powerful Sure, go for the blog! If you can't write articles - then use PLR articles - there are tons of them around. Choose the best one, modify and publish.

It certainly doesn't hurt to have a blog. I have a few blogs that I use for the sole purpose of backlinking. I have created just general type blogs in Wordpress, Blogger, Tumblr, Weebly, among others and regularly add posts to all these blogs linking back to my site.

I would recommend doing article marketing also along with your blog posting, but to answer your question yes I think it is worth having a blog. It doesn't matter if you aren't the best writer in the world, just try your best and the more you do it the better you will get.

Blog or article section is really very useful for a website. It helps in timely crawling of web pages and also helps in traffic increase. You can hire any content writer, in case you can't write yourself.

    Definitely!
I would suggest that your main website should be a wordpress blog!
You can get free templates just googling "wordpress free template" and get a beautifully looking site with no programming skills whatsoever.

In regard to your article writing: if you are not good at it, this doesn't mean that you can't start working on this skill. Just practice and learn from who is already writing great articles!

You WILL become better and better.

    Werna,

If you have monetized you site consider doing some PPC and don't forget that the secret is to get people on your mailing list so you can sell backend products to them or other peoples products.

If PPC is not an option consider, doing SEO.. Spend the most time doing keyword research.
    Download Market Samauri
Key a free membership at keywordspy
watch all of the free videos at keywordelite

Run a test ppc campaign on a group of keyword for your niche. Pick out the best ones after the test and write quality content for them.
    Submit to social sites,
    twitter,
    article directories like ezine,
promote your site on niche related forums using sigs,
    comment on niche related blogs,
make some video about your niche and post on youtube and other video sites,
give out free reports in your niche ( make they have value),
    make a facebook fan page
There are a few more..but this should keep you busy for while.

Edited: I had to add this .
The secret sauce is : Make sure all of your content have value ( read the content yourself or have someone read it, if after reading you say "wow, I liked that.. I want to find out more from this person. " then you have a winner. But if after reading it you say " boring, next!" rewrite or redo completely.

    Hope this helps.

The best thing about starting a blog for your website is that you don't have to fool around with your main site. you can experiment on a subsidiary, and if it all goes wrong, no real damage has been done. of course, you should really create a couple of hundred blogs to promote your main site... ;-)

Blogs are a great way to get yourself some extra traffic. Make sure that you update it on a regular basis and that the content of each post is good quality.

When i write any posts on my blog i do it because i feel i need to express myself about something in that Niche. I wont just write a blog post for the sake of writing a blog post. This makes your writing more expressive and should hopefully connect you with the the readers more often !

A blog is definitely worth doing as long as the content is good, and if it is and people enjoy reading it then their more likely to buy your product.

Since when did a blog become synonymous with "articles only"?

You can definitely craft a worthwhile blog even if you don't write on a professional level.

      > You can, as others have said, hire out the writing.
      > You can use carefully hand-picked articles from directories for a portion of your content.
      > You can embed, and comment on, videos (your own and others).
      > You can carry on running exchanges with other bloggers via referencing each others' blogs.
      > You can comment on news stories related to your topic.
      > You can review and link out to other resources related to your topic.

      That's just a starter list.

I know some of the SEO wonks (and that's not an insult) will tell me I'm wrong for having outbound links. Just set the links to open in a new tab or window, and your blog will be waiting when they get back.
