Water4Gas (and any similar product) Warning

I just got done asking Rod Cook (the guy who runs MLM watchdog) a specific question about water4gas: Does the EPA Mileage and Emissions Test requirement for gas saving devices apply to info products like Water4Gas (Believe it or not, I was looking to promote this).

Here's his reply email, blunt and to the point:

YES!!!! CAR FUEL ECONOMY! :>)

ROD

Translation: the product is making specific gas savings claims in their sales copy. That means they need an EPA mileage and emission test which backs up their specific claims.

(note: what is below is the law in the US, consult your local authorities concerning this subject)

If you're promoting this or any similar product, you may be at grave risk of getting the holy hammer of the government dropped on you from on high. It includes somewhere around $50,000 in fines per day, per violation (which means it's infinitely exponential) and jail time of at least 5 years!

Promote at your own risk.

I think the gas tank may be running out on that one, one of those such programs is even selling off their site and CB business.

    Should be interesting to watch...

The myth busters on the travel channel tested the water to gas stuff and proved that it did not work at all. They where testing all types of so called gas savers.

Gas is actually cheap again so now might not be the best time to get in on this anyways.

For the same reason promoters of an MLM ponzi scheme get slammed when the ponzi scheme goes down.

Google, yahoo, and TV networks don't get slammed because they aren't actually selling the product. An affiliate pretty much is.

Best case scenario, you'll be forfeiting any money you made off of it (to refund victims obviously). Worst case scenario, you'll be fined by the EPA right alongside the people running it. Those EPA fines can hurt real bad.

    Hi Guys,

I just had a chat with a friend about this "Gas for water", and in fact there is a lot of hype around the affiliates promotion

Even it's sounds like a great idea, think about this

From all the people you know, "How many are willing to take the time to learn and apply this little technology on their own car?"

Usually you'll find out that most women just won't touch that stuff and most guys prefer someone to do it for them and they may think about it for later

How many people you know have actually implemented, chance are you know a few people who have heard about but most just never tried it

and for the results certification and safety, you won't trust an ebook written by someone who don't have a clue on mechanics

There are lots of reasons not to promote this junk, but worrying about the government coming after you as an affiliate is pretty low down on the list. The government in the next few years is going to have its hands so full just trying to keep people fed and sheltered that going after this BS doesn't even rate.

Don't be so sure....with tax revenue getting harder to generate...fines are a great way to raise revenue without raising taxes.

It's probably going away because it is a scam. I put it in the group with ShamWow, Helsinki Formula, and herbal cancer cures. You wouldn't really want to sell this kind of crap would you?

The government garners huge revenues from the gas and oil industry, and doesn't want the "lowly" public raining on it's parade.

Next, people will be wanting to heat their homes with water. Heaven forbid!!

Auto makers are starting to produce electric cars. What do you bet, they even put a stop to that before it's all over?

yeah i agree.. the oil co's hate this kind of stuff and lobby it to death.

Same thing in 'health' care - they litigate against anyone with a 'natural' style cure for something because it isn't a drug. Put them out of business using the FTC or the FDA puppets and protect their monopoly. It happens all the time folks.

Now, I suspect that affiliates wouldn't be the primary targets here though - more likely that they would just attack the merchant if they were going to do this.

If water4gas is so good, backing their claims up with an EPA mileage and emissions test should be a no brainer. I would think they would actually be begging the EPA to test them.

Why haven't they done just that?
