Forum Installation, Which URL Is Best?

Hey,

I'm looking to set up a forum as an addition to one of my wordpress sites..

Just wanted to get some insight on which would be the best way to format it ..

forum.websitetitle.com (subdomain)
websitetitle.com/forum
websitetitle.net (own the .net extension as well as the .com)

The last method seems a lil strange since I wouldn't be taking advantage of my current authority (pr 4 site), but a site that I often visit has it set up like that (Sherdog.com: UFC, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) News, Results, Fighting, Sherdog Mixed Martial Arts Forums) so i was wondering if there's some sort of advantage..

I prefer the website.com/forum and that is what I use. I've never seen the last arrangement you mention for any forum, and don't know why it would be done that way either.

  I would go with the /forum . Definitely not a different domain. Keeping it on the same domain will help with seo. And the /forum is just easier to remember

I would go for the sub folder type URL as in websitetitle.com/forum since I personally feel (from my tests) that it gains the PageRank (link juice) and domain authority of the home page better than a sub-domain.

forum.websitetitle.com is a sub domain and it is not wrong to set it up that way.

There is a lot of variance in the SEO world about which is stronger - the sub- domain or sub-folder. It is a serious point of contention.

hi,

dont install forum in subdomain, again you need optimize from binging. There is no use of this forum to u r website.
Try to install forum in folder, and make u r link like: yourwebsite.com/fourm.

it will helps to increase the page rank for u r domain.
