MY SITES NOT CONVERTING DESPITE DECENT TRAFFIC

Hi Warriors,

I have around ten "Google sniper" niche sites and all of them are in the top three of targeted keyword in google. I get a decent amount of search per day, For instance 150 - 450 visitors on my site per days. But my conversion is very poor. I usually get one sale per week from all these sites which is very very bad. All of the product I am promoting are from clickbank with mixed gravity. So my questions is How do I get get those visitors to convert? What are the factors needed to convert the traffic I am recieving. Are they dependent on

1. Gravity of the products
2. The content of the sites
3. Lack of "call to action"
4. wrong choice of keywords ( Not buying keyword )

I would appreciate if some fellow warriors can contribute and share their experience and suggestions : )

Well, #4 is easy to figure out, use market samurai or check the cpc for your keywords, that would give you an indication.

I'm betting it's probably #2-3 but really can't say since I have no idea how your site;s are setup.

Always check the sales page for:

    Optin boxes: bad sign
    Poor graphics: bad sign
Testimonials: lack of = bad sign

Google josh spauldings recent post on offers to avoid and that will set you on the right path..

      Justin,
you've probably neglected one of the most important parts of the IM business.

      Test.

Before you began, you should have prepared different squeeze pages, offers, affiliate products etc. Then you could use each of them say one week and see which one proves the best.

Then use your winner and enjoy your sales...

Nah, not really. With all the Mturk/family members/own written testimonials lately, I take as a good sign that there are none.

You usually need more than 1000 visitors per day in order to make sales. Of course, everything depends on many other things… But the traffic you receive is basically not enough for any business. From 1000 visitors only a small percentage will care about purchasing your products. If you have only 150 -450 visitors per day you cannot have the positive results you desire.

You have to increase targeted website traffic. There are many methods you could use. I use mainly article writing and marketing.

That may be true for cold, untargeted traffic, but if your traffic is targeted, especially with buying keywords, you can make copious sales on far less than 1k visitors per day.

Blanket statements like "If you have only 150 -450 visitors per day you cannot have the positive results you desire." don't really hold water.

450 visitors a day - 2% conversion rate = 9 sales per day. A product that pays $34 commissions, which is fairly representative for a CB product, will earn you a pretty nice income. 34 x 9 = $306 per day, x 365 = $111,690 per year, which I dare say is a heck of a lot more than about 95% of the people on here are making from IM now. YOu could rinse and repeat that 3 times a year, and soon you'd be offering us one of those guru courses the Band of Brothers so loves to promote.

opportunitiesaplenty - thanks for the information.

I am very glad that you addressed that issue on # of visitors. In fact you broke it down much better than I could. You did an excellent job. Dispell the myth quickly for online marketers that you need a gadzillion visitors to make money online.

If these visitors are finding you from the search engines, they are pretty targeted. What is happening is that you are probably not delivering on the promise or providing the quality of product they are looking for. Remember they are key words and then there are "buying key words... the money words distinquish the tire kickers from the buyers.

I dont' quite understand your logic to be honest. yes of course from 1000 visitors per day you'll get more sales than from 150-450 visitors per day, but the question the op is asking is about increasing conversion, increasing traffic wouldn't answer that. These traffic levels are enough to gauge conversion rates, especially in well targeted niches.

I do not quite agree with clever7. I have websites that merely receive 300 to 400 visits a day but convert quite well. This is because of two things: 1. Niche. 2. Content.

It really is difficult to make comments on Why You're Not Converting without analyzing the whole thing.

But I think you already know what it is, since you already suspect those 4 things. And I'm sure there is one of those 4 things that is keeping you away from converting well.

Work on it more, or you could even PM me the details so that I can make specific comments!!!

Providing your visitors are well targeted i.e looking for something related to addressing a problem which your product solves, and inclined to buy, you have a few places to look.

First, check the CB stats to see how many hops you are getting per visitor to your page. If those stats are bad, your content or visitor targeting needs work.

Second look at the vendor's sales page. If it is poor, it doesn't matter how things are on your end, you'll get few sales.

Third, Are you pre-selling your visitors? Make sure they know how bad their problem really is and that there is a solution available. Don't go overboard here. Just demonstrate that the product that you are referring addresses one or more aspect of their problem and let the vendor's sales page do the rest.

Are you building a list so that you get more than one crack at selling to them? Offer them the ubiquitous "free report" that addresses one aspect of their problem. Once you get them on your list, offer them solid value to build their trust and demonstrate your long term commitment to helping them solve their problem. Once you do that, the sales process becomes a heck of a lot easier. You will not only get the opportunity to sell them a product now, but more in the future as well.

In addition, a well tended list leaves the door open for you to develop your own product in the niche. Your launch will go much better with such a list because you have a good relationship with the people on it. They will be much more inclined to buy products that you are offering. That emotional connection will already be established, and in many cases you will have buyers waiting even before your product is for sale.

You don't say if people are visiting the affiliate sites and not buying, or if they're not bothering to visit the affiliate sites at all. Those are really two different problems. Nonetheless, here are few things that popped into my mind:

    1. Your sites aren't meeting your visitors' expectations when they arrive.
    2. The affiliate sites aren't meeting your visitors' expectations.
    3. The affiliate products themselves may not be well suited.
    4. The affiliate sites may be leaky or convert poorly.

A few weeks ago, I lost my care for traffic stats, after someone made a comment about my low traffic... I told the guy, dude.. it converts... Of course, he went off to buy another ad spot...

Anyways, the point is not your number of traffic, it's the convert... Are your keywords poorly chosen? Perhaps your not getting the type of traffic that's going to be interested in your topic, re do your research on the keywords, are these keywords that interested buyers are going to search....

Maybe you're getting tons of traffic, from people who just want things for free.. it's possible

I think the answer here is that it could be one of many things, or a mixture - no one can really say without seeing the site. If you PM me a link I would be happy to give my opinion, and I'm sure others would too.

I've had sites in the past which have had traffic but no sales, It's fustrating I know!

    Justin,

You absolutely MUST build a list. Just have a simple popover box and start getting subscribers. You can then push your offers through your list. People are way more open to giving out their email than to making a purchase.

If you would like you can send me a PM with one of your sites and I could give you my thoughts on what factors could improve your conversions.

    Kind Regards,

There could be all sorts of reasons why it is not converting and all the permutations and possibilities are listed in the posts above. 10 sites and they all have a conversion problem, perhaps there is a common reason to explain it. Maybe you should just post one of the sites here.

There are a lot of variables that will effect your conversion rate.

The main two variables are your sales copy and the quality of your visitors.

Copywriting is a science and it requires years of experience to do successfully (Probably the reason why most copywriting is outsourced). In almost all cases, the copywriting will have a much larger impact on the conversion rate than the design.

There are a few things you always want to keep in mind...

    - For lead capture pages, always include your opt-in box ABOVE the fold of the page.
    - Your visitor shouldn't have to read the copy or watch the sales video to know what they need to do to purchase your offer. In other words, keep it easy and simple.
    - Give the visitor only one place to go. If the person has to many options of where to go, they often chose neither.

Here's an example of quality traffic -

"Although a website ranked on the keyword "guitar" gets far more traffic than a website ranked on the keyword "les paul GXLP3026", the second keyword would probably get a lot more buyers on the offer. "

This is because someone searching for something so specific is more than likely looking to buy. You're probably well aware of this but many newbies aren't yet.

Out of how many visitors to your pages are clicking to your sponsors. What is the conversion rate at just the sponsor?

We need to find if you are getting enough traffic to your sponsor and then we need to make sure the WAY you send that traffic will convert. It really makes a difference of the text you use that can either create a sale or not. The text on your page is a PRE sale. So if don't get them excited about the product or mislead them about a product before they go there then they will not buy.

I don't suggest you blow thousands of dollars on copywriting services just yet. There are plenty of books out there on the subject and it is ESSENTIAL.

You're wasting traffic by not having atleast a half decent salesletter. Go to clickbank and look at high gravity promotions, and model your pages after it. When you are generating some revenue you could outsource for a professional service.

    Don't waste traffic!

without knowing your niche, keywords, seeing your site etc... it's going to be difficult for anybody to give you any concrete advice.

It could be the niche or the product or your copy or any number of things.

Since you really can't chance the niche or keywords at this point, if the product doesn't suck then start working on your copy.
