Hey guys,

Can anyone please share any ideas they may have on how I can get at least 1000 unique visitors a day to my site in the sports training niche.

Right now I'm thinking of outsourcing some article marketing to see what kind of traffic that brings.

John,

For PPC just get a good campaign up and pay for the clicks.

      OR

      Buy a solo ad.

Either way, 1000/day is a lot for a start and would have to use paid methods IMO.
Can you post any details for solo ad?

PPC is the quickest and easiest, but not the most sustainable, I would recommend that with PPC youa re also doing a little side SEO to rank for keywords.

There's no single answer unless you're willing to pay for the traffic through PPC, which could end up costing a fair amount. But for long term, like others have said, SEO is a good option.

In reality it takes a combo approach of more methods than I can list here.

      Target your market reach.

You want sports ppl then mingle with sporting sites. Like ESPN, FanHouse, SportsIllistrated, NFL and the like, depending on your sport niche.

Most of these site have adapted to the social networking trend and allow you to create your own blog on thier system. Take advantage of thier visitor loyalty and create a link wheel from your own rss feeds from sport sites that offer it.

Pump that rss feed. Everyone that is anyone in the sports niche are consistantly looking for decent feed content (not those 2 liners). Add anchor links within your sites articles so that it will be building auto backlinks for you while your pumping your feed. If you have decent and "complete" content available through your feed...I guarantee it will get picked up and go viral.

Gather like minded (sports fans) through twitter and facebook. Create twitter backgrounds and FB graphics for the sport and give them out freely on file sharing sites. Be sure to include the branding of your site name in the graphic, maybe even allow some hotlinking.

Publish a score board and schedule through other popular web2.0 sites pointing back to your site.

    1000 visitors, hmmm?

It would really depend on how high is the keyword difficulty (competition)!
When I know who my competitors are in search results, I can develop strategy.

Find low competition keywords with high traffic and make seo friendly website.

    sports training you say?
you could hire some attractive females and make vids, which works well on youtube
although the teens that watch may not become customers. its not all teens, but a lot.
but if its just about traffic, thats a good place to start.
there is a russian woman (blonde) that does fitness videos on youtube you should look into, i'll find you a link, just a sec.

here ya go... her name is Zuzana for Fitness Advice, Workout Videos, Health & Fitness | Bodyrock.tv

    examples:

    she's now a brunette?

These videos have hundreds of thousands of views

Make sure the video mentions why they should visit your site.
study the bodyrock.tv stuff and you should find a way to make it work

Thanks for all the reply guys.

From what everyone has said it seems seo is the way to go for long term traffic like that.

I've already invested some money to get my site ranked for the top keywords in my niche but I just wanted to know if there was another way to get that kind of traffic and from what you guys have said seo is the best way get long term traffic.

One thing with seo though is that if you're not in the top 5 it's useless.

I'm on page 1 for a keyword that get 1700 daily searches and I get 7 visitors a day from it.

Some people already mentioned video marketing which I already do and is one of my main sources of traffic but it doesn't get me anywhere near 1000 unique visitors a day.

By the way this is all for list building.

I have a list of around 3500 right now and I want to significantly increase that quickly.

Also, I'm going to outsource some articles and include a link to my different squeeze pages and see what kind of traffic I can get from that.

Don't focus on YouTube views - the way to get them is
with sex, cute stuff, funny stuff and gross stuff - none
of which are appropriate to your market, I reckon.

I don't know what you do with mortgages, but if your
business is at all centered in your local geographic I would
advise marketing with video in such a way that you become
a visible authority on mortgages in your area. That probably
won't mean a lot of views. Instead, focus on targeting and
getting the right people to watch.

you could widen your video marketing with something like tubemogul or traffic geyser. Another option for some fast traffic is to find a video in your niche on youtube that is getting a ton of hits and see if you can pay them to put your URL in the video description.

For long term work on building the SEO and backlinks.

I just started, and my first money still isn't up, it almost is but I have gotten only 30 unique visitors and my site is not finished. The first day I had 2 visitors, then for 1 weeks I had 12 visitors, after that I'm up to 30. Host Gator gonna charge me 10 bucks next month though instead of 1 cent..

Although I honestly have no clue how they are finding my site. I do not appear on any of the search engines..they aren't spiders or bots either.

Just my input, it's going to take some time to build 1000.

There is no exact science to getting 1000 uniques. Just as the previous post said, you have to utilize a combination of many techniques simultaneously to get to where you want to go with the goal you have in mind.

My personal list of techniques is:

    1) Video
    2) Article Marketing
    3) Post Comments on High Page Rank Sites/Blogs
    4) PPC
    5) Submitting Content to Social Media sites (i.e Scribd, Slideshare, Squidoo, etc.)
    6) Plain old SEO practices

This is not a complete list, just what works for me....It takes a while to drive up traffic to 1000 uniques.

If you have money, add banner ads on Page 7 or higher sites.

Depending on the niche you are looking to get 1000 unique visitors to.Using PPC is ridiculously expensive for a competitive niche. Say for example, you are a newbie, you spend $2 or so on pay per click for " MAKE MONEY NICHE". 1000 visitor to your site means $2000 for visitors which could end up be freebies . No matter how fat your budget is, you are suck!

I will venture into PPC on less competive niche and rather use social media, article marketing, blog posting and forum marketing on more competitive niche. Having said that, be sensible on your spending budget, rather make the keyword you are bidding on be more optimized and that saves you money

beyond video, a lot of the advice here is reciting the old tried and true,
which is progressively diluted in effectiveness with each passing day.

You have a good niche to be in, think outside the box.

SEO is always part of the game plan, but think in terms of building a brand.

Create worth, offer value, build equity in your offering and content.

March to a different beat rather than getting in line and following lemmings.

    Innovate, not regurgitate.

Why do you think things like Will it Blend, Old Spice Guy, subservient chicken, and other video productions have done so well.

    They do it different.

If you want to reach your goals within your lifetime, you'll want to take some chances and try things that aren't the norm.

Also, be sure to use offline channels too.

But online branding is going to be the paradigm shift in the not so distant future to online marketing.

Social media grabs the attention as of late, but its really just one component to branding yourself on the web.

    Parting thought...

The internet is fast becoming a "cesspool" where false information thrives, Google CEO Eric Schmidt said yesterday. Speaking with an audience of magazine executives visiting the Google campus here as part of their annual industry conference, he said their brands were increasingly important signals that content can be trusted.

"Brands are the solution, not the problem," Mr. Schmidt said. "Brands are how you sort out the cesspool."

"Brand affinity is clearly hard wired," he said. "It is so fundamental to human existence that it's not going away. It must have a genetic component."

I've worked with a couple companies that have taken this approach since day 1 and can attest to the fact that this should be every Internet marketers strategy.

If you're not building a brand online, you're probably building noise.

  • Provide kick-ass content. Other people will do the work of promoting it for you.

I've tweeted, youtubed, facebooked, you-named-it with some piece of content, but if the content sucks, you'll die after a thousand views or so, and most of those "views" will be bounce city.

Put up a solid piece of content, tell a couple of friends about it, and before you know it it's been viewed 100,000 times. Go figure.

That seems to be one of the best methods to get lot of meaningful visitors fast. You need to come up with something that would get lot of attention ( related to your niche ) and if it goes viral big way you will not only get lot of backlinks but you also get boost in traffic as well.

      So start brainstorming.

One technique to help you along the way is to take advantage of the viral nature of certain YouTube videos. Specifically, do some research to find videos with huge numbers of views. Contact the account owner to see if you can make arrangements to have your link placed on the channel page or within the video itself. Many people with channels that receive large numbers of visitors and views are not concerned with monetization and may be willing to help you for relatively small compensation.

While all the comments about YouTube and sexy girls working out sounds good, what are the odds it will bring you ONE lead which is really targeted for your market?

Who within sport training do you want? People with an injury? Sports trainers? Doctors? Professional Athletes? High School Athletes? Weekend warriors? The over 40 athlete?

If I were you I would throw away the idea of 1000 uniques per day and ask yourself, who is my market, who do I REALLY want on my list? Where are they? What are they searching for?

100 properly targeted uniques per day is worth much more than 1000 generic uniques per day.

I gotta agree that 100 very targetted, hungry visitors is a lot better than 1000 uniques.

1000 uniques only costs you $10 on PPV, but whether or not it will convert all depends on the product, niche, lander, etc.

    Hey Guys,

I target solely athletes and actual players.

And right now I add about 10 people a day to my list and they're all targeted prospects.

Also, my list of 3500 is all targeted prospects so as far as that goes I'm fine.

The problem is 10 new subs a day is to little, I want to get to a level where I'm adding at least 100 a day.

I've invested in seo but it's useless unless you're in the top 5 and none of the seo providers are willing to guarantee a top 5 ranking they all promise page 1 only.

That's why I'm looking for other options right now.

    John,
why not try to build a facebook fan page for your site and also a twitter page? try to attract people within your niche but in order to make this thing work. you must offer them cool stuff they will love, be very creative and keep giving them new content that they will be ineterested in.My website received over 2000 unique visitors per day and it was all possible because of building backlinks/membership base from social networks like hi5.com, facebook and myspace.
The site gained popularity through word of mouth marketing, the ones who saw my material loved it so much they had to show a friend.I also used google analytics to determine what category they were visiting the most.I remember I started dumping more content in that section and my traffic moved from 400 uniques per day to 1500 uniques within one week.(you can call it supply demand)

so...the key is to understand your market be creative and give them stuff they will love..keep them wondering what next for tomorrow?

You can definitely do this with SEO. I built a site a couple of years ago that reached right at about 30,000 unique visitors per month (so 1,000 per day) in about 3-4 months.

I was focused and spent the time researching keywords, writing/outsourcing content for the site, outsourcing content for article directories, writing resource boxes, submitting articles to article directories, setting up directory submissions, bookmarking, writing a few press releases, and contacting other webmasters for links. Those were the main activities.

Since then I've put more effort into the site and the traffic has been increasing. It's at about 2,500 uniques per day now ... all of the traffic comes from SEO (which I'd like to start working on diversifying).

You do have to be focused, but even with a small budget, and I'm sure even practically no budget you can do this. But you can't spend all your time looking for traffic generation secrets. You have to learn the ropes and then start putting in the work.

There's no magic and no glamour to it.

I think PPC is good whether paid or free through traffic exchange.

There are good free traffic exchange and ppc sites you can use.
For instance,easyhit4u is a very good site for it.

But, PPC is not recommended for sites with google adsense campaign.

Ok here's my take on PPC.

You need to have a whole lot of budget to get 1000 visitors a day using PPC.

Let x be the cost per click.

    When x=50 cents

    Cost of 1000 visitors: 1000 x .5 = $500 a DAY ($15,000 per month)

    What if x = $1

    In that case:

    1000 x 1 = $1000 Per Day ($30,000 per month)

Let's assume you get lucky and get 10 cent clicks.

    x = 10 cents

    1000 x .10 = $100 per day ($3000 a month)

So I don't think PPC is the way to go.

You can get 1000 visitors a day with Search Engine Optimization. It needs a lot of work though, you have to submit articles to directories, create backlinks and etc...but in the long run it's really profitable. You need to choose a niche then target keywords and it's also a slow process. Don't expect to rank for a competitive keyword in a few weeks. You can also try by PPC. My blog is currently having 300-400 visitors per day and it's not fully SEO optimized yet, just that proves you that search engines will help you get traffic. Hope you generate traffic ....good luck.

You can go to clicksense.com and pay for clicks. You can choose how many you want. You will only pay b/w .01-.05 a click. If you want 1000 visitors it would only cost you only $50.00 at .05 a click.
I used it and got 324 opt-ins, but that is because my business is free to join.

PPC certainly will be very expensive and will get you frustrated in no time. You'll also need to know what you're doing.

CPV is paid trafiic too but a lot cheaper.

Having said that, getting organic traffic is still the best way forward, which will take some time.

I remember when I first started in IM, I would continually obsess over traffic stats.

Now I just focus on whats really important - conversions.
