I am currently building a website, and I want to build sort of a hybrid site, i.e., the main page and certain linked pages will be normal website pages, but other links will go to review-style WP pages. Can this be done? What would be the best method to accomplish it? Or is it a really dumb idea? This inquiring mind really needs to know.

You could set up a WP site and use a static page for your homepage (and static pages for the other pages that you don't want to be blog-style). Might be easier.

It's not a dumb idea, just install your WP blog on sub directory and put your static site on main directory or in the public_html folder.

You want to have more then one review blog? What about having all different blogs on the same domain...? One for each, so they could all have there own styles.

    WPMU is what you need.

You can do that. I had a friend once who, instead of making individual sales page for each product he was promoting, he put each product as a separate post in a blog. This blog was not for reading purposes but for the landing page purposes, so if you built a static site and wanted to build the blog either on it's own domain or a subdomain, you could then link to individual product posts from the blog. It worked out real well for him ... I've never tried it myself.
