Shopping Channel engineering

No matter what the product is, the other day it was a 6 inch metal peeler. So robust it chopped through would but so delicate it would shave the skin of a tomato.

What ever the product being sold, they present it in such a way that I always need to buy (but I don't). I'm a 23 year old un-targeted man with testosterone flying all over the gaff. If they can do this to me can you imagine what they do to (non sexist remark) people who cook?

I've been trying to reverse engineer the sales process because there's something gold about them pitches.

The conclusion?....

DEMONSTRATION!

They know what it does well and instead of writing about it they put it straight in front of you doing exactly what it claims and usually they'll call an ordinary person from the crowd and have them peeling Tomatoes without any mess on their first try.

Seriously guys, If you have something of value, in theory with the right presentation it should sell itself.

What can we learn from these? Again no matter what is being sold, I'll be converted.
