Hello Warriors! This is my first post on the forum, let me tell you a little bit about myself.

My names Andy, im 22. and up until now i have been a professional poker player. Over the last few years i have made about $400k playing poker and have a networth of about $250k now with over $100k liquid. Ive stopped making anywhere near as much money playing poker lately, because the games have gotten alot harder and im enjoying the whole thing alot less.

I have a little background in websites, i use to make websites in dreamweaver and have done some internet marketing/seo and have made a small ammount of money doing so.

Im thinking long term, poker is dying and i really need to do something else. I think im pretty smart/resourceful but am really stuck with where to start. Theres so much going on, so many options, different things to do, i have no idea where to start. What niche/industry, what method, how to monetize, what to invest etc etc.

If anyone is interested in possibly doing a trade - poker coaching for affiliate coaching i might be down :-) Feel free to ask me any questions.

Anywhere from nl100 to nl1k. Although the bulk of my play has been at nl200 and nl400.

if you are making that much off poker then you should stick to it. you'll make nowhere around that much from internet marketing. most of us are only here because we were laid off or can't find a decent job in this sh@tty economy.

but seriously if you are a professional at what you do then treat it like a job and go to work even if you don't feel like it.

I know alot of people would love to make good money playing a "game" or clicking buttons. But ive pretty much started to hate it, the money im making now can be described as "good" but not what it used to be.

This is definitely a lifestyle decision. I would take $2000 a month of passive income vs $10k a month of stressful poker play with 4 figure swings daily.

I actually tried this earlier this year whilst i was playing. I spent alot of time creating a site/blog. And i wrote around 100 articles. Built links to the site. And put ads everywhere to poker rooms.

What i found is that the poker industry is very competitive and although i have some kind of edge on the typical poker affiliate (IE i can offer good advice and help people), its very hard to rank for alot of competitive money phrases without spending a huge ammount of money buying links.

Also, although i am good at playing and enjoy writing about poker. So do hundreds of other people, i know i could offer alot of advice to people thats good, however, most people who want poker advice/tips want it from the people who are making the most. And i cant compete with the people who are making millions a year playing poker.

Just do the same... on a bigger scale and better.
Along the road you will discover and learn new things, too.

Why do people miss the simple and obvious solutions?

yeah i think your right. Im guessing the key for me is to find:

      1) Something new/intersting and exciting to me. IE something i want to spend a lot of time working on.

      2) Potential to profit. IE a market of people willing to buy products/services.

Finding the ideal combination of both would be awesome. Also, im not sure whether i should start something from scratch or buy a site. Also not sure if i want to go the organic SEO route or try my hand a PPC stuff.

    Hey Andy,

I can totally relate to the stressfulness of poker, I play part-time and play HUSNG's I started out on the $5 husng's in January just playing casually aand slowly grinded my way up to $100's then had to withdraw plus runbad and now back at the $50's grindining it out to get back up, but this month I just have found it hard to put the volume in and ive always been a volume fish anyway,

also you are rigth about the poker industry being competitive in terms of training sites or any other products tbh, I mean you have like 10+ training sites that are run by well known pro's with monthly sub's of like $30 so not much room to compete even on price.

I think the best thing for you to do in terms of internet marketing is to try and decide what strategy you want to do and then focus on that instead of going from method to method.

depending on experience I would either say focus on seo and build a adsense/clickbank site as this will be a good way to learn and get yur feet wet, plus you can sell the site for 10-12x monthly revenue at the end and then start again in a more competitive niche.

or the other option is to mainly focus on list building in a niche you have at least a little bit of knowledge in or interested in because its one thing to get people on your list but its another providing some value and building a relationship to sell to the list.

feel free to pm or ask any questions.

Why don't you look at offering some sort of Poker Coaching ? You could create a membership website where you charge a monthly fee for video coaching and methods to improve play.

Make sure that you put your own twist on it though and people will buy into it!

      I disagree with that statement.

      Wanna make a wager?

What you make is going to be up to you and how you set up your business.

Anyway, one way to get started is to look at some other sites offering a poker handbook or what ever, study them, and see if you can improve on what they are doing and recreate with your own product.

If you've found your way into the War Room, you'll certainly find a ton of other ideas there to get you started.

if you were really playing at 200-400nl you might as well go to 100nl and dominate those stakes. Whats your overall bb/100?

by pt i take it you mean pokertrackerbb (ptbb/100) which is different than bb/100, is it fullring 6max Hu how many tables, tbh i dont think the games are gonna die out and poker will always be beatable, I think its more the mental aspect of poker which is draining as well as obviously the swings are so vile, infact tonight has been one of those nights two tabling husng's and beats happening on both tables at same time nly played like 7 games and ive had enough for the day lol,

I think once you have some consistant income coming in from internet marketing say like $2-$3k month you will find poker more enjoyable, maybe just get some coaching or cut down on the tables if your mass multitabling.

like I said if you want any help just hit me up on pm.

    yeah it was ptbb100.

    its 6-max.

its a mix of tables. i would ususally play 6. But sometimes 12-16. I use software called tableninja when playing that many tables. I also use pokertracker3.

And yeah, i agree. poker will always be beatable and i will always be able to earn an income from it. However, like you said, its a emotional drain doing it day in day out. I need a new challenge

Wow! Coming from a guy who says "Hit Me" when I've got two face cards during a game of Blackjack, making that much cash from poker blows my mind.

You've obviously got a HUGE advantage over most players. I'd totally capitalize off that if I were in your shoes. How? Glad you asked.

I'd start a simple blog. Nothing fancy, no sales pitches, no keyword research; just a plain-old blog, the way they were intended back in the day. Talk about what you're working on in your game (i.e. "Playing poker at a friend's house tonight, low stakes, lots of fun" or "I just bought a scratch lotto ticket - I think I'll stick to poker.") I'd post something on it at least once per week, and put an opt-in list on there somewhere, calling it a newsletter, and send out the occasional "Pro Tip." People will love you.

Then I'd put your web address on your business card (do poker players have business cards?). And maybe mention it on your facebook page or Twitter account.

As long as you keep the posts and newsletter engaging, you shouldn't have any problems finding new subscribers, as most folks in your position that do this properly get a good boost of viral popularity (friends tell friends, who tell more friends...).

Once you're up and running, occasionally ask your newsletter subscribers what they'd want to learn about playing poker. If you keep them engaged by providing awesome content, they'll come out of the woodwork with ideas.

Find the commonalities in these ideas and craft a 5 to 10 page ebook or 10 to 20 minute video product, then sell it back to your list. I'd price it under $10 "Limited Time Special price for members of my newsletter" and then crank the price up by $5 or $10 once the time limit runs out.

THEN I'd include that as, say, the fifth or sixth auto message for new signups on your autoresponder. I wouldn't hard-sell them, but let them know about it and also let them know YOU created it.

If I was into professional poker, I'd be super stoked about what you could offer me. So use that to your advantage. And remember that people are going to be just as interested in YOU as a person (you're like a professional athlete in this sense) as they are your skills, so hedge on both of them.

    Just my thoughts.

    Good luck!

    Andy,

I know what you mean and empathize. Grinding it out day in and day out can get to be a real drag. The money can be good, but the bankroll swings and maintaining an even emotional keel in the face of bad beats and constant suckouts gets old fast.

I have been in the poker niche, as both a product provider and affiliate marketer, since 2004, and have enjoyed years of passive income as a result; however, please keep in mind that the online poker market (as several have pointed out) is extremely competitive today, and very crowded. However, with your special skills there are some options.

I have a list of more than 40K poker players, many who have been on my lists for years. The one thing you must have to make money online is a list of buyers and prospects in your target market - and traffic sources to continue building your list.

I sent you links to my sites and contact info. Let me know if I can help.
