This makes absolutely no sense

Over at Goarticles.com there's an article titled "Choosing which laptop to buy", which, according to Goarticles was published on 9/07/2010 and currently has 54,197 views.
If you do the math, that comes out to 4,516 views per day.
The article has one backlink. ONE !!!

Choosing which laptop to buy - Laptops

As a struggling article marketer, I'd sure like to have some insight into how this was done.

Anybody have any thoughts on this ???

What you should be asking is what word are they ranking for to get all the views?

    Then go take it!

How do you find out what keyword they are ranking for?

One thing that you could do is check the article and see the domain name that the article is going to.

Then plug that domain into spyfu or compete.com and see if they are bidding on any keywords for that domain.

If the article is profitable they may be bidding on ppc to get even more sales by bidding for the keyword the article is getting it's traffic from and then sending the ppc traffic to that landing page that is in the article.

Only makes sense if your article is profitable then do some ppc on it also.

It was almost certainly done by sending very cheap automated or incentivized traffic to the article. The kind of deal where you pay $5 or $10 for 10,000 "visits" to your site, or whatever it is. People are sometimes silly enough to do that, in order to get their EZA articles onto the "most viewed" list, not realising that EZA will ban them permanently when they find out. :p

Or, of course, it might have been done by having people like yourself putting links to the article in places like the Warrior Forum. That brings in plenty of traffic, too.

Why no many-thanks button is available?

At least Alexa's posts shall have one...

Unlikely that EZA will ban the author for it, in that case, I do agree.

Unless, of course, the kind of author whose concept of "article marketing" includes this kind of activity happens to do the same thing at EZA, too, which I suppose is also a possibility: some do, after all.

They might. If enough people did that at the same time it could crash them, Twitter style.

Yeah I honestly don't think an article like that would get 4,000 views a day. Just like everybody else on this discussion, I believe these numbers are fixed...

That's ridiculous. Yeah, my post here might bring in a couple hundred views, but the 4500/day average happened long before I posted the link.

I was not aware that you could buy views. Thanks to those who contributed that info without resorting to snide remarks.

Yes, moderators intend to start enforcing 'your own domains only' rule for the siggies, cause of this kind of stuff.

Worthless paid traffic like Alexa said. Waste of time and money.

I did not read the article but a EA article would be the LAST place I would research for laptop information. I don't believe 4,500+ people a day would do that either.

Yeah, If you know where to shop, you can buy 10,000 visitors for about $20. Most of it is expired domain traffic.

It makes no sense to you...

...but it makes plenty of sense to the person "gaming" the system.

Now, that figure is quite scary! But are you sure it's not just one person that has been viewing it 4,516 times per day?
