What's YOUR Affiliate Marketing Model? (Here's Mine...)

Hi Folks

I know some people have a bit of a haphazard approach to affiliate marketing,
and I tend to enjoy laying things out as a MODEL for people to follow, so I
thought I'd share mine with you.

The model below I think is a pretty good one, but I thought I'd take this
opportunity to ask if anyone does things differently... and if so, in what way?

Also, have I missed anything out? I haven't included specific details about every
element, because this is to give an overall PICTURE of an affiliate strategy, rather
than the specific details.

What do you think? Do YOU do things differently, the same? Is there anything
I've missed out?

(Yes, you're welcome to use the model below if you find it useful.)

    Nice diagram.

I don't really do any affiliate marketing myself but do something similar for direct promotion of my websites.

The only thing I didn't notice on the diagram is taking advantage of any rss feeds that are created by 3rd party sites that could be pinged at one of the ping sites.

If you aren't doing that, you might want to incorporate it in the model somewhere.

Thanks. I suppose you're talking about re-using and/or mashing up other people's content?

Not really... Many of the web 2.0 type properties have an rrs feed associated with them so when you create your own little web 2.0 space, you have an rss feed you can submit to say pingomatic.

        For instance from Facebook:

How do I subscribe to my Facebook Notifications?
If you would like to create an RSS Feed for your Facebook Notification...
If you would like to create an RSS Feed for your Facebook Notifications you can do so by going to your Inbox and selecting the Notifications tab. On the following page will be the option to "Subscribe to Notifications" on the right. After clicking "Your Notifications", Facebook will generate an RSS Feed that you can save to your bookmarks folder and view in your browser. You will now have an auto-updating RSS Feed that alerts you of important things on Facebook involving your account (i.e. Wall posts, photo tags etc).

So you could create your facebook page and then use its rss feed to submit it to pingomatic and then it will do its magic to get the search engines looking at your facebook page and kick it further into your network by following links from there.

So if you tie your blog into facebook or reference ezine articles you wrote in your facebook page, this is another way to get traffic flowing back into your network.

    pentagram in the middle?

    Hi Paul,
I have a question. From the Presell Review Pages you have visitors going to an squeeze page (so they will optin), and you have them going to presell reports (so presumably they will optin as well), but then you have them going directly to an affiliate link as well (no optin?) Is that the case - that you have a path where a visitor does not have to optin, or am I reading it wrong?

Yes, but they wouldn't necessarily have to opt-in twice. You can send them to a squeeze page where they opt-in FOR the report.

but then you have them going directly to an affiliate link as well (no optin?) Is that the case - that you have a path where a visitor does not have to optin, or am I reading it wrong?
Yes. The reason for the different paths is they may be half way towards deciding to buy the product... in which case, providing an affiliate link to the product is the easiest way of them getting there.

On the other hand, if they're still not quite ready to buy, they are either going to (a) press the back button and return to the search engine and look for more reviews, or (b) explore your free report and/or squeeze page.

The idea here is that the free report can presell them even more on whatever product you want them to buy.

It gives them another choice besides FORWARDS (to the sales letter), or BACK (to the search engine).
