I'm Lazy Sometimes.. And It Works Well...!

I am lazy sometimes.. I really need to fix that up.. But hey, I've found there's a time to be lazy and a time to produce quality..

But anyways, I'm always lazy with my Squeeze Pages, I suck at designing things, so I'm always at a loss for how to design a kick-butt squeeze page..

Thats when I decided, let's do a blog post, throw an aweber box in there, then say what the product is, and don't write any copy at all.. So I put that down..

I've got people sending traffic.. I don't really have a "convert" rate, but...

I can tell you this much.. It converts.. Not just a bit, but well... Just after sending an e-mail, within the first 7 clicks, 2 opt ins.

Blog Posts work.. Plain and simple

    You were not lazy!
    You took action!

    Yes perfection kills many projects...
You did the best thing... that get it out there asap..
you will have enough time later to fix it...

    --
Also any other warrior thinking to be lazy should learn from you,
that you have active blog, and you have active list which you send mail too..
and you have list which opens your emails and clicks on the links you send them...

Hope many people become lazy like you,, and have at least list, blog and product
    going

Best of luck & thanks for sharing.

Caleb, it depends on your definition of laziness.

Some of us tend to work more than we should... So when we are in a down time, we think of ourselves as lazy...

Well, you can always outsource this part to a designer or simply buy a premade template and only write Your own content, as You would do with post and I think that this kind of solution is more efficient than a simple blogpost ( even worse if on free hosting I think )

Nicely work. If it pays off, I wouldn't necessary call it lazy.

Yeah, you know what they say ... keep it simple.

I've actually always found that my plainest squeeze pages convert the best - I'm talking plain white with no graphics. But, of course, one should test for every offer (I'm kind of lazy about doing that part myself!)

A bit too soon to comment with those statistics Caleb! But I get your point.

Great job, Caleb. Many people think they need to have some slick video capture page (just like Frank Kern, John Reese or Jeff Walker) in order to convert, but that really isn't the case. It can be ugly like crap, but as long as it clearly details what you're getting in a compelling manner and has that WIIFM (what's in it for me) dialed in, you'll see your squeeze page convert well!

IMO your squeeze page shouldn't be one of those things you should be lazy about - especially if it is a crucial part of your campaign. Neither should your sales page....

Also, judging conversion rates by sending your own subscriber base to it is never accurate. In fact, cold traffic conversion rate will probably be 10x as bad.

This is NOT sending to my own subscriber base. The stats I gave are also just the start of one campaign (about 5 mins in).

I've gotten lots of opt ins off that page.

How are you currently sending traffic to this squeeze page, Caleb?

I'd be interested in seeing your conv rates over a measurable amount of time/volume (i.e - 500 hits) to get a really accurate measure of whether this approach is the most effective way to generate high conv rates.

Although having said that, the real point here is:

          1. It depends on your traffic source
          2. It depends on your content

The second point - content - is something I feel a lot of people overlook or play down. When you really think about it, words are words. If I had a cure for cancer written on a peice of toilet paper in a foreign language with a barely visible ink, what measures would you go to in order to comprehend and take action on that message?

Therein lies your answer... quality of content speaks louder than "just any old words."

Add a targeted and presold traffic source, and conversions are inevitably going to be very high.

That really is the essence of marketing, advertising and business right there... quality leads + quality offer = conversions. Whether that's via a blog post or in a video, a post it note or a radio broadcast, that formula can't be beaten.

Hey, I just realized...shouldn't you be in school at the moment? Or are you sneaking off into the computer lab to do some forum posting?
