EzineArticles Quick Question

Hi Folks

Quick question... is it permissible to have two different names on EzineArticles (not different accounts)... one your real name (i.e. Paul Hancox) and one a slight variation of your real name, (i.e. Paul S Hancox)?

The reason I'm asking this...

I see two TYPES of articles... one type designed primarily to generate traffic directly from the article directory (usually shorter, 300-500 words that get to the point quickly so people see the resource box sooner)...

... and another type designed to build authority and to get syndicated far and wide (perhaps longer, 500-1000 words with more detail).

The idea behind this would be to have TWO names (i.e. Paul Hancox and Paul S. Hancox for example) to use for the two different types of articles.

So that's why I'm asking...

Is this permissible on EzineArticles?

I thought I'd ask the good folks here, rather than spend 3 hours wading through their terms and conditions

Just to clarify: I'm NOT talking about two separate accounts (NOT permissible), or a completely different pen name (permissible).

I'm talking about a slightly different version of your name, AS a pen name.

Yea. Ezine is one of the few sites that recognizes that marketers sometimes post articles for their clients. Makes it easier for them to separate their business projects without creating tons of accounts.

    Yes, this can be done.

In EzineArticles, the top guy in terms of
articles is Sean R Mize and I believe he
had a pen name: Sean Mize, which handled
    most of outsourced articles.

Or maybe it's the other way round, not
    too sure.

    • Hey Paul,

Yeah, you can have different names, called Pen Names as Steven said, which can be slight variations of your name, or totally different name altogether.

I believe you can have up to 10 per account. If you need more, then just register another account and go for another 10.

You aren't allowed to register another account with EZA. That is against their TOS.

If you use a picture though, it must be a picture of you. You can't use pictures of other people to represent your pen names.

You can go without a pic, older pics of yourself, blurry, for your pen name but it must be you.

Yes, you can. In fact,I think you can change the resource box description depending on the pen name you'll use. Just choose it from the drop down button for the author's name and resource box entry will automatically change.

if Ezine Articles create the feature to make pen names and they never said that it's not permissible to create slightly different pen names, then yes it's permissible.

      Hi,

Yes you can have loads (I think around 50) of author names. But what you need to be careful of is when you write an article you use the right user name with the right resource box and the links go to the right site.

For example my main one is Andrew Milburn, so I need to make sure my resource box is using Andrew milburn and the link goes to a site owned by Andrew Milburn.

      Hope that makes sense.

I use a few different pen names on eZine, usually just changing the middle initial. I have several different niches that I write for and like to keep them separate. But as far as I know it is against their rules to have more than one account.

          Hi Beth,

Yes you are right. You can only have one account and then on that one account have different Pen names

          Thanks

Some names are verboten though, for example Native American names that are comprised of a single word are not allowed, even if it is an author's legal name.

    C - ii
"Your AUTHOR NAME must have a First name and a Last name."

If the name includes a noun, adjective or descriptor it is not allowed (poor Tom Baker, Lol.)

    C - vii
"We do not allow adjectives or nouns or descriptors to be a part of your AUTHOR NAME."

So their are some very strange limitations... actually, anyone with the last name of 'Smith' would be a violation of this 'rule'. So I assume they let some things slide, though hard to tell what those would be exactly. The guidelines are as well written as Google's in that everything one could possibly do violates at least one rule and the rules are enforced as per whim?

(Any name is by definition a 'DESCRIPTOR', but we'll leave that for another day. From WMD... not 'Weapons of Mass Destruction, rather Webster Merriam Dictionary, :p:

    "Definition of DESCRIPTOR

    :
something (as a word or characteristic feature) that serves to describe or identify )"... a name would identify? So technically, you are not allowed to have any name, at least not any real name that would identify you.
