I really am a dumbass(lessons learnt)
although I am doing CPA I think the lessons learnt from this experience apply to all forms of business and marketing.
A couple of days back, I did a test for an IQ quizz offer with my donkey themed landing page using PPV and after over 2000 impressions and close to $40, only had 130 click throughs, before I de-activated the campaign, which is absolutely horrendous.
I have been busy the last couple of days and didn't have the time to examine the situation in greater detail.
Today, it occurred to me to check how long my landing page took to load on a variety of connection types only to find to my horror that even at really high speed it was taking 13 seconds to load which is even worse than the click through rate.
How could this be I wondered to myself, then it hit me, I was using a cheap Hostgator reseller account to host the webpage, instead of transferring it to my VPS.
Once I transferred it over to my VPS and tested the load times again, at most for the slowest connection type, 1.8 seconds and 0.68 seconds with the fastest connection type.
Moral of the story, if you are going to do this as a business, then you need to treat it as one and do it properly, invest in your business and stop being cheap, because it will cost you in the long run!
Lesson learned
