Aweber List Automation and Follow Up Messages? How?

Few months back I posted a thread asking for some advice on which AR service should I use.

Eventually, I've chosen Aweber.

After some testing, I have some questions which I can't get the support staffs to answer (I don't want to waste their time on the live chat session answering a non tech-savvy dumb like me).

Let's assume I have created 2 lists under a same website, and this site is about Online and Offline Marketing.

So, in one of my niches, the offline niche, I have decided to create some lists for it...

First list - Offline Marketing Free Report
Second list - Offline Marketing Newsletter

And I have set the automation under "my list" in Aweber, where once a visitor subscribe to receive the Offline Marketing Free Report from my first list, they will also automatically being subscribed into my 2nd list, the Offline Marketing Newsletter.

Now lets say I have 2 follow up emails in each of those 2 lists.

Each of them has an interval of 1 day after the very first follow up email being sent out.

Say, today, John subscribed to my first list to receive the report. So, he will receive my first autoresponder (AR) email from the first list right away , correct?

And John will also receive the first AR email from the second list right away, correct?

Now what I really want, was John subscribing to my first list, receiving the first AR email from the first list, and since he was also automatically being subscribed to my second list (the newsletter list), I don't want him to receive the first AR email from the second list.

Is that possible? - I have been told that it was not possible to do this, by an Aweber staff.

If it's not possible to do this, are there any other methods which I can try, so that I can manage my list in a much more efficient way?

I don't want John to feel like I am spamming him, since he is going to receive 2 emails from me, after subscribing to only 1 list.

Any help from any warriors are much appreciated.

Thanks!

No sure why you want to put him on 2 lists. Why not stick to one list and send him a newsletter after he has received your free report.

Your idea makes sense but I don't think that works with aweber. I've played with aweber and icontact both and neither seem to have that EXACT feature.

I think it's because you are automatically subscribing to your second list. There may be a way if you kept them in one list group....

      Thanks Jimspeed,

And thank God you understand my broken English! LOL

Yes, I am automatically subscribing them to my second list, that's what I want. But I don't want them to receive the very first AR email which I have set up on my second list. I guess there's no other way to do that huh?

I don't really understand why you want to include them on 2 lists initially. Typically, you would want to move them to another list if they perform an action...like buying something.

Are you giving away other things but wanting to combine your list into one? Help me understand.

Hi Sandy, thanks for your reply.

I can understand why you were saying like that, and so I have edited the original question, and hopefully it makes much more sense now.

The reason why I would want to create a separate list for the free report and the newsletter, was because that free report might consist of a very interesting offer that john was interested in, and he landed on the first list initially, and not the second list.

While some other people might not be interested in getting the free report, but they are interested in signing up for my newsletter...

Does it sound funny? I am not sure, let me know what do you think about this, warrior.

Any advice is welcome and thanks in advance!

Why not just group the lists together & when you send out a broadcast, send them to all lists that are applicable?

        Thanks Ldimilo,

I was trying to create follow up emails in my second list, but not in my first list.

The first list only consist of 2 follow up messages.

I thought, If they were taking action to download the report, then I can go back to them and market some other similar products to those who were in the first list. I can be a bit more aggressive in recommending relevant offer in this list?

But the second list was only a general newsletter list about updating and giving more content to those who were in this list?

        Does it make sense?
