Damn. Why didn't I think of this? 6,370 newspaper auctions at eBay!

I should have went out and bought a thousand of these. They are selling for 10 times what they cost just two days later. I'm talking about "Obama Wins!" newspapers of course.

Right now there's 6,370 at eBay!

I noticed some foreign newspapers there also. Like the Israel one. Interesting.

Hey, maybe on inauguration day the paper will also be a collectors item.

Why are these people selling them already? They should only go up in price as time goes on.

I guess there is still a sense of euphoria surrounding the event and it is still very newsworthy. Plus, at the time, a lot of people were only thinking of celebrating or drowning their sorrows.

When I got married I was so busy I forgot to buy the daily newspapers. The next day I was around the local newsagents trying to find unsold copies before they were sent back.

    5 NY Times sold for $100 total = $100

Keep in mind Obama is just getting started and he won't be going away anytime soon! Bet you he'll be in 1,000's of special publications over the next few years that'll be in huge demand. Obama collectables and memorabilia is now a Big new niche.

Obama will soon need his own keyword tool as if you do some research, they are literally growing by the day. From Obama babies to... Obama doggies and everything in between. By the way you can always get archived newspaper stories. Laminate them and/or spin them into other interesting business ideas and possibilities...

Just be on the lookout for Obama keywords in the news, a few examples...

Obama campaign memorabilia in high demand - NewsChannel 9 WSYR

Seems nobody on eBay is thinking outside the box.

Why not combine each major newspaper, one from every state and sell it as a package?

Bet that would bring in 4 or possibly 5 figures.

You're kidding, right? You don't think the first black president will have long term appeal, especially to the ethnic community?

I have to wonder why aren't any warriors here talking about buying one of the newspapers on Ebay and having posters made at someplace like Cafepress? Talk about not thinking outside of the box.

There's nothing stopping someone from making t-shirts, plates, mugs, hats, etc. with a FAKE front page banner headline, from a FICTITIOUS newspaper! Wouldn't have quite the same impact, but pretty close. Only problem would be the photo. Where to get that. Otherwise, that could be a great idea + no copyright problems.

After posting this on the 8th I put a blog on CollectObama.com, added the PHPBay.org plugin, used a theme Ron Douglas posted here, put a link in my signature here, made some quick posts, the next day it was indexed and it's already getting traffic from Google. In fact it ranks near the top for 'Obama collectibles' and at the top for 'collect Obama'. ;-)

This election has made history. "Making History" is what has added value to it. There is no doubt that a copy of this newspaper would sell for a lot higher price down the line.

It is surprising that the newspaper companies DID NOT increase their production for the first day. I have a friend who works at CVS, he told me they got the same exact amount of copies that they do on a regular basis despite them requesting the agency in advance to give them more.

Wow, that is a great way to make money. The people who are going to buy the newspapers a day after Barack Obama is sworn in as president of the United States Of America, they will make good money too on Ebay.

I live in Toronto so I may do this myself and but a few papers.

People who ALREADY BOUGHT. It's gone !

That is why people are buying on ebay for a higher price ... I have 2 copies ... had to drive around a lot to find these I am a coin collector, so those inner voices keep prompting me to do these things. Not sure if I will ever sell my stuff though, I just get too attached ... but maybe some day my kids could

Again Obama news stories are telling you how to make money...

As many people throughout the country scramble to save newspaper reports of Obama's historic victory as the nation's first black president, the museum is venturing its own bid. Staff are hunting for such keepsakes of the 2008 presidential election as bumper stickers, campaign signs, T-shirts and newspaper clippings...

Ahem.... There was a $3.99 WSO I ran last week that suggested people go out and buy newspapers to sell on eBay if Obama won.

Let's just say people were so excited to part with a measly $3.99 for a WSO from me that I failed to cover my listing fees.

Outside the forum I got the same reception... anyone I told about it, laughed at me or thought I was crazy.

I went ahead and bought 50 copies and many of those listings you are talking about are mine.

Just outsource, hire a few kids to pickup ticket stubs, newspapers & whatever you know where...

Obama will be sworn in as president on January 20, 2009, only days before the 200th anniversary of Lincoln's death...

Newspapers from major historic dates always increase in value.

@ Datingloot - you are right if people are just cashing in on one newspaper, a distraction and a waste of time. But dealing in collectibles and antiques can be an extremely lucrative business - a "money while you sleep strategy" for sure...
