Something cheaper than Aweber?

Ok! So Aweber is $19 per month but from what I see if you have more than 500 suscribers you have to pay more than that! So If I want to have between 2500 and 5000 suscribers I have to pay $30 more! Do you know of any cheaper service?

PS:
I'm not worried about the $19 per month! But if I have to pay more I should know that I get something from it!
Can somebody tell me what's your average earnings per month on a:
2000 suscribers list
5000 suscribers list
10000 suscribers list

???

GetResponse is priced at each price point about two dollars less...

Cheaper than that is only self-managed mailing lists, and I generally do not recommend that.

MailChimp - You can have 1000 subscribers as part of their free subscription. There is a 3000 mails per month limit on the free package.

I tried MailChimp... It did not seem anything like what I was expecting it to be...

I have heard it said that MailChimp has been designed to NOT APPEAL to the IM community...

It does not seem to me that it was designed to be used as an automated autoresponder series, but rather a contact management system...

If I am wrong, please correct me...

Pretty much truth!! I just switched from MC to Aweber. It's easier and actually cheaper (ones you move into paid zone, MC is a little expensiver if I remember correctly)..

Cheaper shouldn't be your main criteria when choosing your autoresponder service.

Your list is your business asset. It's worth spending that little bit more on having the right tools for your business.

Make it a challenge to sell more than the $19 per month to pay for it.

There is a saying that has flown around the IM world for a while that says each subscriber is worth $1 per month on average. Now that's out of the way, let's get real.

Every list is different. 1000 people on one list can make millions per month while 100,000 on another list can make peanuts. It really depends. I'd rather have a list of 1000 billionaire buyers than 100,000 deadbeats freebie seekers.

You are not locked in with aweber. Your best bet is to sign up and start marketing to your list (how did you get thousands of subscribers with no email marketing program?). Then if you don't see ROI - cancel.

Why don't you promote aweber to your own list - then it will pay for itself month after month...

I agree, don't cheap out on this part. If you're wanting to make this a real business and a long term business, you're going to be using this service from now till the end. As you start building up your list(s) switching providers is NOT an easy task, and can end up costing you clients and $$$.

You need to make $19 off your list to break even. I always tell people you're going to have to invest (spend) money on your business in order to make money, your autoresponder is CRUCIAL!

I also looking for cheap service for e-mail marketing. However, your mailing list will be the main source of income so you should look for quality. I still suggest AWeber but I think that Get Response could be an alternative.

I'm actually leaving GetResponse soon for either Aweber or InfusionSoft.

    Here's why:

    Reason 1: Send Windows
Deliver Smarter Autoresponders With Send Windows

    Reason 2: Resend to Unopened
How Do I Resend Follow Ups To a Subscriber? :: AWeber Knowledge Base

    Reason 3.
Filter Broadcasts on Custom Fields (Segmentation)
    http://www.aweber.com/blog/email-marketing/market-like-a-mind-reader.htm

And I actually have a GetResponse "Grandfathered" account. It costs $17/mth for 10k subscribers. But the features above are vital to my business and GR is taking too long to implement.

InfusionSoft is another story and much more powerful. I still need to find out if they have anything like Send Windows.

I may have done this comment in other post but I think it is extremely important to share:

The auto responder software you choose may be one of the most important decisions you take on your online business, because once you choose one (the double opt-in ones) it is very difficult (impossible?) to pass from one provider to other without loosing many subscribers (I lost once half of my list trying to do this ).

I don't think you should be worried about the increase in price when you have more subscribers, is like getting worried to get a bigger restaurant because you have too much clients.

If you have a bigger list you are getting more chances to make more money, usually the conversions on a list gotten via freebies is between 1% to 7% (my experience), while a list that you build via paid products may be a lot higher.

Don't worry of how much it is going to cost you, worry to create the list based on selling products/services

This isn't true ... not at all. I'm really getting tired of people spreading misinformation about ListWire.

We do not interrupt the confirmation process in any way. Period.

After a subscriber confirms, we show them a confirmation page with co-reg advertisements (just like GetResponse), but those co-registration ads ALL belong to other ListWire members, and it's a credit-based exchange.

Basically, your co-reg ads show when other people get subscribers, and you show others ads when you get subscribers. We're seeing some incredible results with lead generation from our members, and they're getting 100% free leads while using a 100% free autoresponder.

Some members have added more than 500 new subscribers using the list-builder alone... totally free. At almost $1.00 per lead for similar services, they've gotten hundreds of dollars in leads, without spending a cent ... not on the autoresponder, and not on the leads.

Excuse me, but I tried the ListWire before going with Profollow.

Perhaps I used the wrong words relating to my description of what happens.
My idea of an opt-in is -

          • I Subscribe
          • I see a page that tells me to look at my email because I will need to opt-in
          • I go to my email, click the link
          • I see a page that says Thanks for Opting-in, or somesuch.
With ListWire - You create a webform for on your site so people can subscribe.

          • Someone subscribes
          • They are told to check their email and confirm.
          • Receive email to confirm
          • Click to confirm
          • Sent to a page where you are shown a list of 5 free offers, you then must choose your offers and click "Yes, send me the details!" or click "No, thanks."
          • Clicking "No, Thanks." brings up a second page, a product selling page
          • scroll all the way to the bottom and again click "No thanks, I'll pass on this incredible, one-time opportunity, knowing that I may never see it again ..."
          • Clicking this brings me to the "Your subscription is now active" page
          • with a button there to "Click Here to Continue"
          • Clicking on that brings me to the Listwire frontpage sales video.

This is what happens, I thought I would see if my login was still active so I just added the web form back to my site, and signed myself up to my own site using an alternate email.

          This is exactly what happens.

Now you say that this does not interfere mechanically with the signup process. I don't believe I said that it did.

Call those extra pages whatever you want. In my simple-mindedness I call them ads. To me, they are ads. Maybe not to you. Maybe not to others.

          Just me.

It's free. And for those who want or need free, it's a great value offering them the opportunity to build their list that they wouldn't have otherwise.

However, it is my personal uneducated (since I neither own nor run an autoresponder business myself) opinion that as a subscriber, when I tested it, it put me off. It felt like getting those pop-ups that keep on coming after you've already said no once.

And since it put me off, I felt it would put people I was trying to build a new relationship with off as well.

But as with anything, I tell everyone, try it for yourself. Anytime you using a service or coding that you didn't do yourself, check it out as a someone who would be coming to your website to see how it works, it's the only way you'll know what you're getting and what happens.

After checking out my alternatives, my decision was that it wasn't for me, and chose a paid service instead. ProFollow.

    Hi MagicAce,

I'm sorry that I can't answer your question with specifics, but I will try to answer the part of your question others have passed up.

The reason I won't answer is that everybody has different results from their lists. Some people sell to their lists frequently and try to get every penny possible from them, while others hardly ever sell anything to their lists at all.

So, one person may respond by saying they make $5 per person per month, and another may say they make only $0.01 per person per month. The standard rule of thumb is $1 per person, BUT there is so much variation that it is nothing more than a guess.

We don't have any idea what you will be offering your list, what niche, how you will communicate with them, how often, what your overall strategy is, or anything else.

If you're not worried about the $19 per month, then you probably don't have to worry as that monthly cost goes up as a result of a larger list.

Not sure if that really helps, but I tried.

    All the best,

A specific answer to your question on how much you make per X amount of subscribers is impossible. One of my lists has about 300 subscribers and I make between $2,000 - 3,000 per month just from that list every single month without fail (and I only email them once a month). I have bigger lists that pull in less and smaller lists that pull in more. It really depends on the kind of list you have.

I'm thinking of going with Getresponse because of two reasons:

    1. The first few hundred on your list are free, which is good for me as a newbie.

    2. They let you manually add email addresses from another source without a mandatory confirmation opt-in note.

So if you say have a business where you keep opt-in records that are legitimate, and you want to use that list, Aweber and iContact would force you to opt those same people in again despite your records, whereas Getresponse doesn't require it.

Agree...plus they have good deliverability which is also an important factor.

Another reason why I choose Aweber (or GetResponse) is that many (membership site) software don't integrate with other ARs

If you use your autoresponder service correctly, then
frankly the monthly running costs should be irrelevant
when contrasted to the income you're generating from
        your lists.

        I recommend choosing a third-party autoresponder
service that has a long track record of providing a
        great service with high deliverability.

So, that's AWeber hands down. They've been going
        for 10+ years.

Personally, I wouldn't use one of the newer solutions
because as of yet - they're unproven long-term.

Remember that your list is one of the most important
assets in your business so you want to choose a
provider that has stability and a long track record.

Also, re-examine your thinking process and focus on
        VALUE instead of COST.

        And remember...

I did tried Aweber for less than a month before canceling the 30-day trial. They were totally amazing, especially web forms, blog broadcasts and follow-up messaging. Nobody beats Aweber with $19 a month, because they are the best in our business. I left Aweber due to financial problems, which I cannot afford or commit to pay $19 a month because of monthly home expenses and contributions.

:WizardResponderPro: is an alternative you could take a look at.
Not been around 10 years like Aweber - but after servicing clients for over 2 years, we've hopefully convinced a few people we're around for the long term

And we do answer the criteria of being cheaper
(Also have a paypal option for those who have asked)

Do note - affordability and ease of use are important to us... but we don't have the full blown analytics of Aweber, however we feel they are of more benefit to the gurus with huge lists rather than the everyday marketer!

    Hope that helps

Aweber is pretty much the Cadillac of basic Auto-Responders. If you cannot afford the $19 a month for it then why are you even considering entering business? More to the point, if you have less than 500 subscribers and aren't even able to recoup your $19 then you are doing something majorly wrong.

I use Imnica. It has a feature which Aweber doesn't - the ability to create "user" accounts. A bit like Statcounter, you can create a "user" for your client to so they can log in and see the mailings you sent for them and view their campaign stats.

The latest version of Imnica is solid. I'm loving it.

Check out Mad Mimi Email Marketing : Create, send & track emails with Mad Mimi., I've used pretty much all the email marketing services and I like them the best plus they are a lot cheaper than most too.

...BUT...if you are marketing "make money online" stuff don't bother with them as won't handle those type of emails due to spam complaints. If you are in the MMO niche, I would recommend sticking with Aweber, they are usually the most expensive but they are also the most reliable.

    Good Luck.

Profollow is actually Jeff Walker's "white label" version of the old Aweber that he was grandfathered in to, so in essence you're getting Aweber quality at a significantly lower price.

I've tried a bunch of them, and after really spending some time working through even some of the more obscure providers (like Mad Mimi) I have got to say that there was one very clear winner for me:

    ImnicaMail
    WSO: http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...day-trial.html

The features are all there, the support has been great so far, love the interface, love the list segmentation and tracking features, and the price blows Aweber out of the water -- it isn't even CLOSE. On top of that, the owner of ImnicaMail is a Warrior, and I love to patronize Warrior-owned businesses.

But I mean, come on... the WSO pricing is ridiculous: $6.30 a month for up to 5,000 subscribers and unlimited mailing? With a 60 DAY free trial? Heck, the WSO price for an entire YEAR at ImnicaMail is just $60.

Again, as I said after exploring a whole bunch of services, ImnicaMail was the clear-cut winner for me.

Aren't you worried that Imnica maybe be not as timeless as Aweber and maybe it's not in for the longterm?

NO business is timeless. ANY business can go under. Think Leehman Brothers, etc, etc, etc.

We've been around for a year and a half and have been going from strength to strength. We're not PLANNING on going away anytime soon.

I'm sure some of our competitors wishes we would though.

My question first before you even discuss which one is cheaper, faster, better, hase more features etc...

Is do you have an email marketing strategy in place so you know who you want on your list, how often you are going to email them, what the reason for your email marketing is and your plan for it over the next 6-12months.

These are questions that really need to be answered before you begin worrying about what autoresponder will I use and does it cost too much. In my business because of my strategy plan i use 5 different autoresponder programs because the advantages and disavdavatages of each out weigh each other depending on the use.

And like freedumb said teach a few people how to use aweber or another autoresponder with an affiliate program and you will actually be making money off it, not losing money. I know for my lists my aweber affiliates pays for all my list cost including creation of new products and free gifts.

I hope that gives you some insight to email marketing and that it's not always about the cheapest option but the most suitable to your needs.

Like I said before don't skimp out on your list building because you need to save some cash. Your list is the most valuable asset you can have on the web. Because if anything falls apart. e.g. sales page or google slaps you. You still have that list you can advertise too once you have built a solid relationship. It does not matter what externally happens to you if you have that golden list. So wouldn't you want the best email autoresponder to house that list that could potentially make you lots of $$$ if you use it right?

I've seen a well known IMer like Michael Rasmussen. He's using automatedyourlist email marketing. Why? I think because of the lower price for 10k subscribers. I'm thinking of following him too. I compared the price, but haven't used automatedyourlist yet. I'm using aweber now. I'm still deciding now I want to decide early or i might have issue transfer all my subscribers when it getting bigger :/ You guys have any idea? Which road should i take?

Question about Profollow: Can I resend to unopened like in Aweber?

i would still recommend aweber, i have found them the best. In most things in life you get what you pay for, so cheaper isnt always better, im happy to pay the extra and get good quality. Plus if you have a list over 1000, an extra few dollars wont matter as that list should generate a lot of money.

    Hi MagicAce and everyone else.

I may a better solution for you. I too have used Aweber and Getresponse. Don't get me wrong. They are good, but they have TOO many limitations.

Since 2007, I have been using UMC. I pay $19.95 a month, but not only do I get an unlimited auto-responder, I also get:
    4G of web-hosting
ability to host up to 20 domains
    unlimited databases
    my own support ticket center
    my own affiliate program manager
link tracking and URL branding in outgoing auto-responder emails
    plus a lot more...

Something else I get that many people will never get is great support. Kavi Kodai is the owner of UMC. He has helped me on MANY projects and has even written scripts for me at no charge. This is a perk that I could never get with Aweber or Getresponse.

You can learn more about UMC @ guidemax.biz

I also must add that this auto-responder system is VERY easy to use. I can even create sub-accounts to give access to others if I want.

You will find that MANY people are stuck on Aweber. I've always used my current auto-responder since 2007 and have reverted back to Aweber. I get no different results with my current auto-responder and Aweber. Just my opinion, but I think that my auto-responder has a much better RSS broadcaster.

    Hope this helps.

Hey there I have to say I have tried other autoresponders and they work well but I have never found one that has the great customer service or flexibility of aweber.

Some points were made and I agree if you get to the point your paying more to handle more subscribers it should be paying for itself.

If your not converting you might want to put money into your squeeze and landing pages I don't mean that sarcastically just trying to help.

I went back to aweber from prosperity central because even though I was paying more money the didn't support attachments.

I like aweber for lot's of other reasons to.

I'm evaluating autoresponders and I'm currently leaning toward GetResponse due to their survey feature and the recent Aweber compromise (tho I realize it could happen to any service). That being said, I'm really looking for a service that does automated sequence email split-testing (not broadcast split-testing).

After reading this thread, I've decided to switch to our fellow warrior's autoresponder service, Imnica. And I can see now why there's more than one post mentioning Imnica in this thread....it's because Imnica is quite solid.

Profollow is a good choice. Same as aweber (since it is a private label of it) but much cheaper when your subscriber size grow.

A big recommendation from me for MailChimp.

Their free account lets you can store up to 1,000 subscribers and send up to 6,000 emails a month.

We moved 7,000 subscribers from Constant Contact to MailChimp and it was a breeze. I love their usability, their functionality (great newsletter builder, form builder and stats) and their customer support is great.

Oh, and they have a really easy to use API, if you want to integrate their service with your own.
