Podcasting - anyone getting decent traffic or links from it?

Trying to read up on traffic sources and noticed a few warriors "read" their articles for both video and podcast submissions.

Videos are of course a mainstay of traffic and SEO, but is podcasting worthwhile?

What are the best sites to submit to once you record one?

Thanks!

I think podcasting is more of just a 'value added' type of thing... You'll get more loyal visitors, repeat visitors, and a more trusted reputation, but I wouldn't hold too much hope for bringing in fresh leads, unless you colaborated with another site in a related niche or something similar... There's some worthwhile avenues I'm sure, especially since it's a majorly untapped market - even if it's not a very large market.

I tried this about a month ago.

I took the videos I did for my site and pulled the audio tracks from them. Then I published them as a podcast and submitted that to a number of podcast directories.

I got one link (podcastpup) and that has sent one visitor.

Like any other form of marketing, you have to promote your content, otherwise how do you expect people to find it?

Yeah definitely everything in here is true!

Try to use podcasting also to get a quality backlinks to your site.

Here's how you do it! First you need to sign-up to podomatic.com create you account and upload a video file. Dress up your profile a bit. (there is a video instruction on youtube)

Then look for the rss feed. Next step is to sign-up for itunes account its free. (there is also a video on how to get a free)

I tunes runs on a desktop. Then just locate submit to itunes kinda like that along w/ your feed from podomatic.

There you go you have just submitted your podcast to top podcasting sites like itunes.

Just search over the youtube for more details. They give you some detail instructions.

If you stuff your links to different site, you definitely get quality backlinks...

Try also to search submit to podcast directories, free podcast submission, etc

      Cheers!

Podcasting seems like an incredible amount of work for not a ton of benefit. I could be wrong though. Sherdog.com runs about 20-24 hours of radio/podcsts were week. It's cool, but heck of a lot of work.

They only said that it never worked may be because they are pro's or they are the big dogs, or may be they are impatient about small amount of traffic.

I guess even if just a tini tiny traffic, that's another way to create backlinks to your site.

It exist means, it's definitely true but not that much traffic.

They just react because they just want to post here on this forum and try to build backlinks to there site under there signature.

All they did is just throwing negative at you, they don't even comprehend or give credit to some idea that's worth contributing.

Try to observe there comment, they got only 1 to 2 sentences all they did is to insult throw a lot of negative. And they try to hurry posting a comment just to have backlinks or contact info to there site. But not to mention those who give credits.

Podcasting is not a magc bullet- like blogging and other forms of content creation- those who persist and improve make money.

The Traffic Attraction Formula which is now closed is totally based on podcasting- mainly using itunes as a primary traffic source for list building..

So Jason Van Orden is one of those podcasting success stories.

Yup I have followed The internet business mastery guys for quite a while now and the way they use podcasting is not necessarily backlinks but rather to establish their presence in the market and lead generation tool really.

podcasts may get your site indexed faster if submitted through some of podcast aggregators but in terms of traffic its really not worth the time. Its better the same time you spend to create a video with a slide show or a simple powerpoint. If you are comfortable creating a video with yourself talking to the camera or webcam is 5 to 10 times effective compared to creating a podcast & distributing it. Video distribution to metacafe and youtube brings a lot more traffic too. So video creation and distribution brings in more real traffic and is worth the time as well as effort.
