Posting articles to sites OTHER than Ezinearticles...

Four questions, please try to answer all of them:

1) Have you gained extra sales in posting articles to articles sites (such as go articles ect) as well as Ezinearticles?

2) Have you gained extra sales in posting articles to smaller articles sites, such as those that a bot would post to as well as Ezinearticles?
(I.e. sites other than:EzineArticles.com, GoArticles.com, ArticleDashboard.com. Maybe even ArticleAlley.com)

3) Have you gained extra sales posting articles to web.2 sites such as Squidoo, blogger ect, as well as Ezinearticles?

4) Do you change the keywords/body in the articles when posting to different sites, if yes: do you think you would have still made extra sales if you hadn't changed the keywords/body?

Thanks, your answers will directly be affecting my success, it seems the devils in the detail.

    Hi Sam,

    1 - yes
    2 - i don't track those
    3 - yes
4 - no, i post same article to all directories. Sometimes I spin them when I put them on web 2.0, depending on where I am pointing it to.

If you are just starting out, I would suggest you post your articles on the top 5 or 10 directories, and link the articles to your blog/money site. Then make web 2.0 sites on the top 5 or 10, and link them to your articles and your blog/money site (If are using the same article on the web 2.0 as the article you are linking to, I would spin it before posting on web 2.0). Then do blog commenting to create backlinks to your blog/articles/web 2.0 sites. You could also do some bookmarking, submit them to directories, and submit free press releases to get some more backlinks. These can all be done for free.

If you choose keywords that aren't too competitive you should be able to rank something on first page.

    Don't overthink it.

If you want to track which directories are performing, you can use tracking202 which is free and effective, and easy to use.

    1. Always post to my own properties first. Then to sites which are appropriate depending on the niche. EzineArticles, Articlesbase, and GoArticles are the top three directories I use. Yes, it does generate more traffic and sales.

    2. Not direct sales, I only use lower level directories to get a few extra backlinks to my own sites when needed. I never think of them as "traffic generators" or "high quality links".

    3. I do use various Web 2.0 sites, sometimes re-using content, other times with original content. Again, I do not try to get direct sales from these sites, they are all part of my funnel to drive traffic and rankings on my own blogs. I do often include a sign up box into an email list on them.

    4. Hmmmm... No, since I am working from a plan I have a set of researched phrases I am trying to rank for. I will work those phrases into the entire series of content with keyword specific links to my own blogs or websites. The idea is to drive the rankings and traffic of my own site as high as possible. Not the articles on other sites. For any market/niche I may have a list of 50 to 200 different phrases I am going to use. Those phrases get intermixed within articles on different sites since Google sees them as related terms to my market. (I probably did not say that well.)

Barry's answer above goes for me, too.

Not that I know of. I think of any more as "backlinks only", really.

You'd have to explain clearly what you mean by "Web 2.0" for me to answer that with certainty. Different people use the term very differently. It interests me that you mention Blogger as an "example of Web 2.0" when Blogger existed for many years before the phrase "Web 2.0" had been dreamed up. I think my answer's probably "yes", in the sense that I use some of "those sites" as part of my backlinking strategies, which lift my main sites in the SERP's and lead to increased income from them. (Did that answer your question?).

Sometimes I change the titles, keywords and resource-boxes a little. I always publish on my own sites first (obviously), and then I tend to submit an identical copy to EZA, then very quickly change the title (sometimes), keywords (sometimes) and resource-box (usually) to come up with a "second version" and that's the one I then submit everywhere else. The "everywhere else" will include 5 or 6 other article directories among a load of other places.

This is very difficult to judge! I do think that changing the keywords can have some benefits, but this is hugely complicated and depends partly on how many keywords one's targeting, how many articles one's writing, and some other variables, too.

I don't disagree at all with Barry's answer above, again.

The other thing I always do is to change one word or one punctuation-mark in each submitted version of the article, so that I can easily tell from which source my work's being syndicated, when I find it online. (In practice, it's very often EZA!). But knowing this is really very important to me.
