Focus and taking action is the key to achieving your goals. Choose only 1 method to make money online with 1 website. Then, map out an action plan, learn or outsource the different parts that need to be done, and integrate any information along the way that will help expedite your plan. Only then, will you be well on your way to succeeding in IM.

  I must agree with that as well and concentrating on one thing and working this way will certainly work for me and for many others as I can see. But when you start out you do have to try many different ways you can make money on internet so you would know which is the best for you and so you can actually make up your mind what to focus on, so I would call it hardly a mistake, just a learning experience I would say.

It's overwhelming. You find WF, you read read read, absorbing thousands of posts in a short period of time. I feel like I'm in one of the matrix seats, loading more and more IM techniques and knowledge into my head..."I know kung fu..."

Worse than this is the hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars people spend on WSOs and the latest-greatest software, looking for that magic bullet or perhaps making sure every base is covered, only to find out a year later they've spent a big amount of money and are still at phase one...

The past few days I put an end to it. I've decided on my path and I'm going to work in a disciplined way, sticking to that path. This isn't rocket science, it's more a numbers game (from what I've learned). The more you work, in an established way, the better you will do.

No no no Catherine, the "I know kung fu..." stage is when you have that epiphany. When suddenly it clicks - you're making money like anything and you look back and can't figure why it seemed so difficult in the past. Unfortunately I haven' thad that epiphany in IM yet, but I know I will.

Wow, it's amazing - I've only just put an end to it all in the last few days too. I've put aside trying to make money on Amazon for Christmas and am focusing on the one thing that HAS been working for me - my own product on Clickbank.

But it's still so darn hard! I still feel drawn toward my Amazon sites, and my Neverblue sites. I still backlink em and modify some tid-bits here and there, but my main focus is on my clickbank product.

Wow this is exactly how I felt like 2 months ago... Actually your situation is almost exactly the same as mine. I've spent the last 2-3 years just aimlessly trying to make money online.

I had stable income for a while when I was running my own content business, but I got bored of it... so I just searched for ways to make money, and like you I tried a bunch of random things all at the same time.

Then I started to create my own products... I have 1 product on clickbank right now, and I am in the process of creating my second one. I learned SO MUCH from doing my first one, hopefully I can do my second one right... and I'm sure I'll learn a ton from this one too.

Anyways I just wanted to chime in and say that if you're in the same boat as me or the OP... just sit down and re-evaluate what you're doing. Look into creating your own products.

Hey pal - I hope you've rinsed the hell out of that first product before you go onto your second one. Isn't it amazing how much you can learn with your own product out there? As an affiliate, you're so limited in terms of tracking and knowing what's going on.

But with your own product out there you can track everything. Try out different sales pages and really learn what works! You learn copywriting - unlike with direct mail, with IM you can see the bounce rates, how long they spend reading your copy and more.

I'd love to start making a new product - it'll be so much better than my first (which I'm quite proud of), but not until I learn everything I can from my first product. I'll get the highest conversion rates I can, then recruit affiliates and dip my toes into email marketing once again (which I failed at miserably the first time round - I figure Rian Deiss' tactic of emailing and promoting every day are not for me, not at this stage anyway)

Once you have fixed your sales page, you are on your way...

Once you have recruited affiliates, your are further down the road...

But don't stop there...

Train your affiliates to be more successful selling your products...

Lord knows, most of them would appreciate the help... And you will be helping yourself to be successful, while you are helping others to be successful...

Thank you a lot for your honest post, something like you wrote does not happen often, I mean not a lot of people would share their experience, all respect to you for that!

I am at the moment just a beginner in affiliate marketing and I cannot think how I could try many things at one moment because I am doing very a lot already on one thing.

But, of course, at the beginning I thought that I could do many things at the same time, but I did realize that I have to go step by step. And now I am doing exactly what I said, I am still learning many things and hopeffuly I will soon get my first sale as well.

And for further days I will definitely take your advice!

I think this is the first time I really shared my experience in this way in 3 years!

I treated IM like a dog eat dog world. I was scared that if I share my secrets, then it would simply raise competition and make everything harder for me.

Though I don't believe in karma, I have started to believe that what comes around goes around. Too many people that I respect have said the same thing - that the more you help others the more successful YOU will be as a result. Almost like there's a supernatural force out there making this happen.

Dan Kennedy spoke of this. And Mike Mentzer mentioned that he would help his competitors be the best that they could be, because that would push HIM to work harder himself and help him be the best that he can be, and in general it would raise the standard of the whole bodybuilding community. Amazing.

I have no qualms about helping people any more ^^.

If you want to check out some similar posts, do a search for a guy around here called Terry Kyle. He definitely inspired me. The kind of stuff he sometimes shares just makes your jaw drop and wonder if this guy's just incredibly stupid or relentlessly giving. (You'll realise from the nature of his posts that he's certainly not stupid). I learned from Terry that creating your own product was the way forward. Thanks Terry ^_^

Bookmark this thread. When you feel the urge to leave something you've already spent time on and know will work with more time and effort, and try something different - just because someone on here says they're making a killing on it. Bring up this thread, read some of these posts and realise you have to stop yourself and go back to that original method and master it before you even think about doing something else.

I completely understand what you mean. This is my exact story to a tee. Once I figured out what I needed to do, I began hiring outsource people to do the work for me. That way all of my work that needs to be done gets finished. I make a good income and can now jump around from writing this ebook and that ebook. I am easily distracted and can't do just one thing at a time.

Great advice, but alas I fear many if not all will learn this lesson the hard way. The reason being, one almost needs to know a little about everything before you focus. It is a initiation if you will.

My advice to help with this inevitable info and action overload is offer a service related to IM. Articles , back link building , websites etc while you learn. That way you always make money as you try everything else and each of these services will be valuable in what ever you decide is your main passive money maker e.g. CPA , Adsense, Affiliate marketing or what ever.

Also limit your system hopping activities to a maximum of 6 months and then promise yourself you Will choose one and do it until you are successful

Its hard to know what path to take. Here people are saying stick to one thing and then you have the camp that says 'don't put all your eggs in one basket'.

  They mean stick to one thing to learn the basics, because if you can't learn from one chicken without jumping from one hen house to the other looking for that golden egg, then you want be getting any eggs at all

I actually disagree.

I think experiencing a variety of methods can help people understand IM better as a whole. It can also help them build more advanced and flexible business plans down the road.

Another advantage is that by "trying a bit of everything" you get to see which methods you enjoy doing most and which are best suited to your skillset.

Of course, if you don't have time for this then you don't have time for this.
And of course, if seeing small gains makes you give up, then checking everything out may not be a good choice.

Amazon sucks for me, I've spent months making sites for these guys and gained very little in return. I'm totally convinced you CAN make money with these guys and I now know how, but it's a hell of a lot of work and time before you start to make a regular income.

I don't regret Neverblue much, as I'm making an almost completely passive income of $200 a month with these guys. But sort of like with Amazon, you put a hell of a lot of money in for pennies in return.

I now realise that money can be made through any of these avenues, but not if you're trying to tackle them all at once.

I've realised that the BEST method that works for me is to have your own product that offers as much value as possible, and sell it!

The most money I've ever made online comes through my own product which I sell through clickbank. I don't yet have a regular income - some two or three sales a week, but I know that if I focus on this process I can finally reach my Internet Marketing goal.

I only need to sort out my salespage (which sucks at the moment) and then recruit some affiliates. Then having sorted out and perfected my revenue from this one product, I'll go on to create another.

So just to clarify, my biggest mistake in internet marketing was to branch out and try too many different things at once before I could master one particular method of making money. I wasted 3 years doing this.

I'm sure many of you reading this are making that exact same mistake. I advise you to stop! As enticing as it is to make money from everywhere, like everyone else seems to be doing, I advise you to take the one method that's working best for you or you enjoy the most, and keep at it until it's working!

I have been there... it's funny because you always hear about people never taking action. What about us that take too MUCH action. I had to focus and learn time management. These are business skills that most courses don't talk about.

I also chased a market that I was good at for too many years before realizing that this particular market wasn't going to spend the money I thought my stuff was worth.

Yes! It's definitely not about working your ass off on a project with your eyes closed. You must keep learning and be open to the possibility that you might just be on a sinking ship, then be willing to get off it.

But sometimes it just takes a lot of work to discover that the sink is in fact, sinking. But it's worth the effort to find out. There's no such thing as failure, only learning experiences.

Can't agree more that this is why so many people fail at internet marketing. They are always chasing after the next shiny object. They do not have the right mindset and jump from one project to the next. Internet Marketing is focus and persistence. Always write your goals down - this is the easiest way. Take a long term goal and then break it down. Constantly review your goals and if necessary revise your plan how you are going to reach the ultimate goal you have set yourself.

I think you really need to choose ONE single method of income generation and then stick to it relentlessly.

Because if you hop around everywhere...you lose focus and as a result, you spread yourself to thin.

Stick to one area...really understand your market...practice copywriting and scale your business once profitable.

I also want to stress that learning copywriting is pretty much essential - it's almost like selling in person...if you want to sell people in person...you need to practice talking to tons of people right?

Trying multiple avenues when you start is quite common. It is when you've seen the same stuff over and over that you realise that you have to choose a strategy and focus on it.

Having your own product is one such strategy and because it is your own you are less reluctant to abandon it for something else. So you stick to it. And you make a success

I agree. I wasted time looking at various programs thinking that they will do me good. Now I see myself making progress following and learning from one Coach and one program. Just focus on one good program and you will start seeing positive results in your business.
