What's the best way to plan a great convincing sales letter?

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed about the whole idea of creating a sales letter. I know it's really important but I just don't know how to get started...

  • Umm... I'm not a pro at writing sales letters, so this would be just my opinion...

But I think an easy way to start would be to go to some sales letters written by the pros for similar products, and see how they structure it. Then do the same for your own.

For example, if you see a pro copywriter writing a salesletter for a similar product starting with a headline that goes: Who Else Would Like To... *Benefit* in Just *Short Time* Days and *Monetary Saving* No Investment... etc.

You could do the same for your own headline, and the rest of the body as well perhaps.

It's probably best to hire a copywriter if you don't know what you are doing. Although, there are books and courses you can get that will help you learn. It's not something you will perfect overnight. It takes practice and hard work learning how to create an excellent sales letter.

You can also go to the copywriting part of the Warriorforum and learn some things there.

    Here's what I've got.
Here's what it will do for you.
Here's what I want you to do next.

Also go to Google and search for David Frey's 12-step foolproff sales letter template.

    Good luck

You want a really fast lesson?

Block access to your Paypal account before you do this....Seriously.

Now go to the WSO section of the Warrior Forum, start reading the posts of the items with lots of posts. When you find one which makes you want to grab the credit card, or unblock Paypal, stop thinking about what it can do for you, and start reading HOW IT WAS PRESENTED TO YOU.

If you aren't a pro, just hire someone who is. Outsource the creation.

If you had a family member that needed surgery, would you start studying how to perform the surgery, and try it yourself? Or would you tell them to head to an experienced surgeon?

Yes, it will cost money, but let someone who knows what they are doing take care of it.

Although this is a great idea, not everyone can afford 2 to 3 thousand dollars to drop on someone to write them a good piece of sales copy. It's always best to learn how to write copy yourself.

I agree with you (that not everyone can afford those prices), but I'm not entirely convinced that great copywriting is something that can be taught.

I know people who have spent as much as $10k on copywriting courses, workshops yet when it comes down to writing the sales letter, they just can't do it. Or they come out with garbage.

I do think this is one area of internet marketing, where you do need to have some natural ability.

Because there is an element of art to copywriting, and not everyone is born with it.

    First of all, ask yourself:

What does the customer get out of your product? What's in it for them? What results or outcomes does your product give them?

Think of it like this: People don't really buy products... they buy RESULTS.

Even if you buy a DVD box set of your favourite TV series, you're buying it because you want to be entertained. A woman buys that hot dress because she wants to look good, feel sexy, and turn heads.

So your sales letter should explain the problems your reader has, and explain how your product is the SOLUTION to their problems, with the emphasis on the RESULTS they get and want.

I recommend you hire a copywriter, because they're trained to do all of this. (I have a stable of copywriting students if you want any written at a more than reasonable price, just PM me.)

Either way, just keep in mind what your prospect ultimately wants... results, and solutions. Show them how YOUR product delivers the results and solutions they want.
