The best niches are those that can be reached and have a desperate demand for information to alleviate their pain.

Anything to do with health, wealth and happiness and you're pretty much guaranteed a healthy supply of potential prospects.

If you find a niche and the competition is fierce then drill down and identify sub-niches so you have less competition but still a good supply of prospects to market to.

To get content ideas then check out wikipedia, ezine articles, or even consider buying a product (digital or physical) to further educate yourself and get a ton of extra ideas.

    Good Luck!

    Garry.

In my opinion, the best niches are the ones with high competition. I know, I know, some may say find the niche with little competition, but I never let that get in my way and now I'm on the second page of Google for a "particular" keyword. So choose a niche that you're passionate about and go for it!

As for content building... why not hire someone to write the content for you? This can be costly, but there is a website that charges $1 for every 100 words they write. Not too shabby! The Content Authority Website

With regards to this subject, I don't think you'll much better information on this than at Eben Pagan's blog here:

      GURU BluePrint Blog

It is a closed program, but the free pre-launch training which is still up is well worth going through to understand niche selection at a deep level.

Concentrate on one niche at a time.

Build up your list, provide value to your subscribers, and get to know them. Become their expert they come to. Then you'll be able to sell them offers every once and a while.

Then once you're comfortable you can move onto another niche.

Building lists only really makes sense in a niche where you can establish a long-term relationship with your prospect/customer.

      These include:
      Dating/relationships
      Business related
      Sports/hobbies
Health (but only some; such as weight loss)

That's because these are really the only niches where you can give constant advice through email communication - and establish trust over the long term.

The Eben Pagan video mentioned above is well worth watching. He talks about health, wealth and relationships as the 3 mega niches (markets). Find a unique slice in one of them.

I find that niches with active communities (like the Warrior forum) are great as there is a lot of activity and referrals.

Also look at niches where people spend money. Walk through the big shopping malls and see which niche shops are in there. If they can afford to pay the rent they make money. It may spark some ideas. I also suggest that you send an hour in the biggest premium bookstore with a magazine section that you can find. Look at the upmarket magazines in the 3 categories above.

Surf magazines on Amazon. If there are many magazines in a specific niche there is money.

Health, Wealth and Relationship are indeed important to anyone life. I'm sure the market is very competitive but it's probably are the best niche to make money once you set up the system. I believe those non existing niche that have to do alot of thinking and inventing could probably raise you alot of money though

      2 Things

Anything where you can offer a solution or add value. And better yet both.

      Example:

In Australia we have lots of spiders, when we hang the clothes outside to dry, spiders lay eggs and leave their webs on our clothes pegs. So i came up with the invention of molding the pegs with spider spray in the plastic which doesnt run. If someone offered my partner or i these pegs we would snap them up in a second.

      Why?

      Because it solves our problem.

Adding value would be to add a free mini fly spray bottle.

And of course anything that has to do with survival and reproduction and all the things that stem and branch off from these. Such as the main four; Sex, Food, Water and a Cave. Then you have the branch off's, such as; ripped abs, cos they have to do with sex which attracts the opposite sex, which helps us re-produce, and drilling down further a supplement which helps you rip the last bits of fat off, or an ebook which helps you remain focused on your goals of getting sweet abs.

And those spider are pretty damn mean. I agree, anything that satisfies our basic human needs (at premium prices though)

And that's the fun of finding profitable niches. You must be able to deliver value (not just overcharging) but the true "niches" tend to have premium prices as they appeal to smaller segments of the market. If it appeals to a broad market it is not a niche.

I'm not answering the "niche" question, since you already have great answers, but I do have one problem with what you say above..

Article marketing is one of the best ways to build a list, if you define article marketing to include content you share on Article Directories, Forums, Yahoo Answers, Web 2.0 sites, Blogs, Yahoo Groups, and used to create videos.

If article marketing does not work, how the heck do you plan to build your list?

That is why you only pick niches that you have knowledge of. Whether its stamp collecting, backpacking, hiking, medical,,,,,, if you have been doing it as a hobby for years, or have some kind of training / education in the field, that is what I suggest you go into.

If you pick a niche you know nothing about, your going to have an uphill struggle finding content and researching. So why not pick something you know about to start with?

One of the best blogs I have ever read was by a doctor working in the emergency room. I bet she has no problem finding daily content to write about. I found her blog, read almost every page, and forgot to bookmark it.

If you have actual working knowledge of a field, your not going to have any problems finding content.

I agree with what most of the warriors are saying. Find a niche that you have some interest in, even of no real knowoedge and go crazy with producing content. Be real and provide people what they want and it is hard to not make money. Stick with it though, because it may take time to start seeing the $$$

    Hey there,

Wealth, health and education is the way to go if you want to market something online. However, when it comes to education, I would forget about personal development and concentrate on marketing education. With Facebook, youtube and all these other social media tools that have become marketing tools coupled with what the internet can already do for us in terms of making money, people want to learn how to market and learn for free. PPC's are getting way too expensive and Google and FB is really getting strict with their advertising policies.

Your article marketing may not be working because of your keywords. Article marketing has also changing. Try article spinning.

As for your follow up messages, just go with what you got and you can always add more since your messages are spaced out in delivery time. Leave the message open ended until you come up with more material.

    - Andrew

Was thinking about building a list in a subniche is this a good idea? I'm not totally lost I have made some money but I keep seeing "build a list" so just getting some ideas on what to do..

Just to add my own two cents:

My first and still really my main niche is acne. I dabble some in fitness/exercise because it's a kind of hobby/minor passion for me, but I really believe in my acne product that I promote because I know it works. I actually purchased a clickbank book about acne a few years back that worked incredibly for me. Fast forward to about a year ago and it was easy for me to decide exactly what niche I wanted to get into.

A lot of people talk about finding a niche you love and your emotions are cool with it so that's the only way you can be successful on the long term.

Let me quote the great Corey Rudl on that one: "I am an internet marketer, I don't sell what I like, I sell what will sell, what you like!"

It's the good old question for people, is it about making your passion work or about cashing in with something that sells?

I would prefer the secone ANYTIME.

Read the book 'The Richest Man in Town' on this topic, a book about the richest guys in the US and you'll realize on thing:

Most of them DIDN'T create their wealth with their favorite hobby or something that made their emotions feel alright.

They became billionaires because they enjoy one thing:

Because their passion is being a business person.

That's what most forget, you have to ask yourself what YOU are:

Do you want to make money with your emotions or your brain?

Business people like Corey Rudle don't think about what they like, they enjoy the drive of having a business and making it more successful.

That's why they say billionaires hire people that are way smarter than theirselves in their company.

Just look at Richard Branson, he never specialised on ONE thing he 'loved' most, what he loves most is the thrill a new idea and a new path in business have.

You have to figure out what you are in life: Do you need to love something you do as a hobby in order to make money with it or do you enjoy the art of making money and improving any business? Don't overestimate the importance of the good old 'do what you love most' - you certainly DON'T need to make money with your hobbies etc.

For example: You can be an actor that's up for all kinds of movies and you're into it if you think the project will be successful or you only shoot movies you LOVE personally even if you think they'll never get a big hype. It's a thin line and there's no right or wrong, because sometimes you'll fail with blockbusters and sometimes an underground project without a big budget wins an oscar. The question is which suits YOU best ;-)

      Hope this helps,
      TK

I think you can make the best out of every niche. It's a personal thing. Many people have made the worst result out of the so-called best niches while some people have recorded great success in "ordinary" niches.

I agree with some mentions above ... your niche should be what you enjoy doing ... then it isn't work, and you'll always be able to create new content because you will always have interest.

I saw it mentioned somewhere that you should go over the last few months of bank statements, CC receipts, etc. looking for what you spend most of your money on ... that is what your niche should be.

    Makes sense.
