With namecheap all of the domains come with free WHOIS, but I was wondering today if this could be hurting my sales. What percentages of buyers check say review sites whois info before they buy? Some people think just because your whois is private that your a scammer. But in all reality I just dont care for every spammer in the world to be collecting my email address through the database.

Anyone have a any feedback if this effects conversion rates or not? Thanks

Out of many many many domains that I own I only have about 2-3 with private registration.
I rarely get targeted with spammers for my public whois domains.

I think that revealing your details will in the long run help you, even if it means you getting 3-4 junk e-mails every week...

I personally like to list my details as it gains trust.

    Good luck

It won't affect you one way or the other. Really, most people have no clue about whois junk and the only people really searching it are other marketers trying to figure out what you are doing, how many sites you have, your niches...ect.

yea I just figured to keep it private when I first started internet marketing and have been doing so since. I was just curious as to how many people actually check this?

I did some research for a product in a niche im promoting and saw a topic on yahoo answers about someone saying " I always check the whois of a site and if its private then I stay away." So I was wondering how many other people actually do this.

      Hi Corey,

To the best of my knowledge, 9 out of 10 people that check the who-is are in the
IM field.(eg, Make Money Online niche)

If your niches are not in the MMO niche then it most likely won't effect
      you at all.

Although, If you Are talking about the Make Money Online Niche then
many may judge your decision to be privately listed.

      Have a Great Day/Night!

Corey: Having a private domain is the same as having to cloak your links. We have reached a point where you almost have to hide from everyone to be safe online. I'm sure you know people with unlisted telephone numbers. That practice started years ago, to cut down on telemarketing calls, disrupting everyone's dinner hour, or the scamming of the elderly.

The person on Yahoo answers that you are referring to possibly passes on privately listed domains because there is no way to spam and scam that person. Why else would someone search every website to see who owns it?

All 45 of my domains are private, and will always stay that way. It makes me sleep better at night, knowing that every crazy person out there, can't just go to a site and see my home address and phone number.

I don't think there is any negative effect to have your information private.

ok cool. Im not in the IM niche really yet, so these are all other niches. I never really worried too much about it but figured I would ask and see what other Imers are doing. The warriorforum is great
