How to get traffic to my Squidoo Lenses?

Hello,

I've written 13 Squidoo lenses. They are all featured. However, I only get about 6 visitors a week.

What can I do to get more traffic? At the moment I am so new to the system that I don't even know how to work out where my 6 visits came from.

Cheers,

CSM.

    Hi

A lens is just like any other webpage - therefore the same SEO principles apply.

The only slight advantage however with Squidoo is that Google sees the site as an authority so any lens should be easier to get ranked (subject to the competitiveness of the keyword/phrases)

send backlinks to your squid page and also bookmark it as well....when you write articles if your squidoo page has a link to your sales page use that url as well.

Squidoo wasn't as popular as it used to be. I think its easier to get rank high and get more traffic with ezine. Having said that, you should try and get as many backlinks as possible to your lenses so it will drive up your ranking in Google.

Article Marketing with links to the lenses.
Video Marketing with links to the lenses.
    Social Bookmarking the lenses.
Commenting on other lenses with links to your lenses.
Blog commenting with links to your lenses.
Forum/Group posting with links to your lenses. (Forums in your niche, Yahoo Groups within your niche, Facebook Groups in your niche, etc..)
    PPC
    PPV
    Twitter Posts

All of those will work, but before you get too involved in all the work, ask some important questions. Have you done proper market/niche research to know you can rank for your phrases? Are your phrases ones with a good volume of searches being done on Google? Do you have a "buying" niche, and a method setup to create profits?

I've also noticed that Squidoo isn't performing as well as it used to. Might be a saturation thing.

There are plenty of other free sites that will let you post content and links, e.g. Hubpages.com, knol.google.com, etc... plus hundreds and hundreds of article directories. Try googling for more.

Personally I have found Squidoo to be a non-productive distraction from actually working on my sites.

I have created lenses with loving SEO care, linked them, backlinked them done everything anyone suggested and I have come to the conclusion that its a total waste of time.

You are better off submitting content to the top PR article sites which one does frequently see high in the SERPs than messing about with Squidoo.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I was only trying out Squidoo as another article directory. But if it's more work than an ezinearticles submission I think I'll just stop using it.

Squidoo lenses, ezine articles, YouTube etc... can give you decent traffic.

But the key is to build back links to them, so that they can rank well for your keywords.

This is the key to the internet. Creating an online webpage is not enough unless you're an authority site. Just get those links.

But isn't the purpose of using sites such as ezine and squidoo, to get backlinks to your site. If I need to point links to my ezine and squidoo sites, where are they going to come from, other than similar ezine and squidoo sites?

Using squidoo to drive traffice can be an uphill battle these days. I would focus on using them as backlink builders or google bait.

Is it not that Squidoo is now a nofollow site? What back link are there to speak of. Traffic perhaps, yes.

The post that bumped the thread was asking a question about something that's changed rather dramatically since 2010, so it might not have been a bad thing to ask it here rather than starting a new thread to ask it, on this occasion? (That would have taken up the same amount of space, effectively?). It corrects some out-of-date information, anyway, and prevents it from misleading others who might find it in the same way. But in general, when people bump three-year-old threads I think it's because they haven't noticed the date at all, having found the thread from a search either inside the forum or from a search engine?

Yes, that's correct: all Squidoo external backlinks are now "no-follow".

      It's changed this year.

Traffic perhaps no. Realistically. Few people look at the bigger picture: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post8109462 <----- This recent thread may help you.

Stop using squidoo and concentrate on placing articles on your own site. That way you can't be "locked", "banned", "shut down", etc. With articles on your own site, you are in total control.

The best way to get traffic to your lens would be to get backlinks to your lens and promote it on social media websites.

I have found squiddo not to be the best.. you should go with tubmlr, or hubpages,, test these out, use social media to link them, to your blog website, other blogs and websites, and link each other to forum traffic.... also big time forum.... comment and create great value.

Google's Knol site has been gone for over a year. (Someone mentioned it as an option...)

My lenses that get the most traffic were the ones where I took the most care to research keywords and aren't saturated with the keywords.

My lenses always perform better as a whole when I start participating in the site and comment on other people's lenses, et cetera.

Interesting. Are you finding that's from the search engines, or from people reading your comments then clicking your profile/lenses?

You should post your lenses’ links at the Forums | SquidooHQ powered by Squidoo and like other lenses, besides leaving intelligent comments. Many lensmasters will like and write comments in your lenses too.

The traffic your lenses will get from the Squidoo community will help your lenses have a good ranking and get traffic from Google.

You can also create Zujava leafts, which are similar to Squidoo lenses and their links are dofollow:

    FAQ

Don't create too many lenses and leafts, otherwise you won't be able to drive traffic to all pages, and you can lose your work at any time because you depend on these platforms’ rules, which keep changing.

Use your lenses and leafts to drive traffic to your websites and blogs and to have an additional income stream. Don't exaggerate.
