Hello

I have few questions to ask those of you who have some experience in making money online. I would really appreciate your honest advice as I am trying to create an online business. I am interested in creating a real online business that will last. Here are some questions:

1. If you were to start creating a new business, which niche would you go after and why? baby niche, dog niche, making money online niche?

2. How would you monetize these niches? Would you create an ecommerce website for all baby related products or dog related products /sell info products?

Thank you all for an input.

I would go for the niche that has the most profit potential as well as the littlest amount of competition. If you can't compete, you won't make any money, right?

Info products are always the easiest and are associated with the least amount of start up capital. But eCommerce sites can rake in hundreds of thousands per month, so it's really up to you and your financial needs.

I would do it the other way (and have).

Create a product for a niche...sometimes the smaller the better. Before you do, find the top 5 sites for the search terms. Approach them and ask them to be affiliates for your product. Give them a free copy and show them how it fits perfectly into their traffic.

Now you don't have the challenge of driving traffic and creating a site. You own a product and have affiliates making your sales. It's a great way to see how the biz works. Then start your affiliate biz.

My best affiliate has a site worth half a million dollars that I could never duplicate if I wanted...but he sure sells a lot of product.

Each niche is one that will be around. So far as making money, I don't see anything wrong with doing both and linking the two together.

@bellsman I am not sure of creating a very small niche is the best idea. There are plenty of products in above niches. What other benefits would I bring to these people that the top afiliate who already has the product didn't? My though was to create an ecommerce site.It is a longer process especially when trying to rank several keywords.

@maesil There are money to be made in all of the above. I would like to know your experience and success with either of them. Just curious how else could you monetize these niches to maximize income potential. Building a business the right way from the start.

@DianeBrandt I would like to stay with one niche and expand it more.

    Thank you

To go into any niche, there has to be money that is being spent.

So all three of yours niches fit.

Now do you know anything about the 3?

Do you know any more about one than the other?

Have you yourself checked what kind of products
      there are being sold?

Are you going to create your own product?

Does anyone in these 3 niches know you or your
      expertise?

If I was to pick one, I would first find an affiliate
product, set up a squeeza page, build a list, send
great content to them, and then I would promote the
      affiliate product.

If I make sales, I would dive in all the way. To build
the business you want..... you would have to have
      your own product.

You do want to be taken seriously, don't you.

      Just food for thought.

I would probably pick the baby or dog niche since they will certainly have less competition than the make money online niche, and possibly a larger variety of products to promote. I would probably pick one product from one of those niches, or maybe a collection of very similar products, and then create a micro niche website focused around them. Then you can make affiliate sales which you get up the search engines a little bit. Adsense could be effective too. For example, in the baby niche I would look in to baby strollers, or baby cradles possibly.

I'm looking into the health and beauty niche. Lots of competition, I know, but I know I have to do it. A review site does it for me.

If you really want to make money stop getting info from all directions. You will get confused and stay confused for years.

Choose a blueprint/coaching program and stick to it. You will make money.

Also, I disagree you should choose a niche with too little competition. If there is no/little competition then probably the niche is not making money.

To you first question on chossing a niche. Well for starters if this is going to be your first run at things. You really should stay away from the making money online niche. The reason for this is you will be lucky if you find a hand full of keywords that are not over populated and competitive. As for the other two you should be able to do quite well with them. However be sure that you choose a keyword that is not over populated for it will be just like the making money online niche.

Choosing a niche really depends on what you have an interest in and what you can provide you readers that others will not be able to. There for try to stick with something you are interested in or have a desire to write about it will make things that much easier for you in the long haul.

As far as monetizing my sites go I always have a few different things to keep the visitors on my site. First I do a simple affiliate review style sales page for the home page. Next comes the blog here I will monetize to help bring readers to my review page. However if that does not work I also have adsense added to help increase profits. Last I build a amazon store page on the blog so that now the reader can pick up the niche related physical products.

I do like the selling of my own physical products as well. So it really depends upon what you would like to do with your site. You can do an affiliate style site or you can do an adsense site with affiliate products or you can sell your own product or you can sell others products. Just think of what you want to provide your viewers with and give them that.

You could create several "micro-sites" all promoting a single product type each. Or create a larger "authority site".

For example "Red Skinny Jeans" - just reviews of red skinny jeans.
or an authority site "Jeans", with lots of types of jeans reviewed and compared etc.

  • Here's my own five cents worth of advice

Choose a niche in the field of your personal expertise, preferably in a field you have a passion for, because where your heart lies is where you'll find your good fortune. Customers have enough intuition to sense if the vendor likes what he's dealing with or if he's only interested in the $$s. It's paramount you build up your clients' confidence if you want to have a long-term business relationship with your clients.

For example if your hobby is raising parrots then you should choose a niche dealing with parrots. If you are a private English tutor then you should choose a niche dealing with English language and literature, education, literacy etc.

There is always a raging debate over whether one should follow their passion, or follow the money.

I think this becomes particularly important if you are looking to develop a long-term business instead of just generating some quick cash. If you can find something that you have an interest in, and which has a good supply of people willing to spend money in, then you have the best of both worlds. It is much easier to build a long-term business if you are interested in a topic - it makes 'work' a lot more fun too!

That raging debate often masks the obvious solution...

Follow both paths until they intersect, then put the pedal to the metal.

If I will choose on a niche, my top choice would be health and fitness. People are striving to be at their best state of health these days.

Others would include gaming and technology and personality development because they are my personal interests.

I would go with the dog niche (actually have many sites in there now and am building up an authority site myself in this niche).

But why that one out of the three you have listed?

Well first off, the make money online niche is way to competitive and if you are not an expert in making money online you won't have anything new to offer so are already at a disadvantage. Most people in the MMO niche know how to do SEO so finding good keywords and getting traction with them is much harder than the other niches.

The baby niche I don't know squat about and have zero interest in although I am sure it can be quite lucrative and there are a ton of keywords you could target.

So that leaves dogs... I love dogs.... it's a huge market (not a niche actually) and you could find tons of niches within it.

That's just my 2 cents and worth about that if not less.

I will go for the niche that will make me stand out from the crowd. I hate following the herd.

Sorry, your list does not contain such niche. So, I will remain restless till I find or create a niche of my own.

@lamberw I guess you can offer health products to moms who purchase baby items so kill two birds with one stone
    would you agree?

@Kevin Hutto I do have a knowledge. I have studied IM for years but never made big money. I know the biggest problem was "focus" so this is the reason why I want to choose one niche and stick with it no matter what magic bullet comes out next

@All Night Cafe I agree people spend lots of money on all these niches. I am gearing towards ecommerce site and building more offers around it. Like I said maybe some skin products to mom in baby niche or info products on dog anexiety disorder etc.

@fuzzynono Not a bad idea at all

@MrWhistler that could income stream review site. It all takes lots of time so this is the reason I ask this questions so I can make a plan of action.

@ Geoff101 I agree that was my problem lack of "focus" I have knowledge now just implement it

@petevamp What is the best keyword research tool? Market Samurai or free google keyword tool. I ask that because I have used google keyword research tool and was dissapointed when I got to the top of first page and got very little traffic

@ListBuildingForNewbies I tried Parrots but didn't work that well. No too much interests in it it either.

@spudnick Hello there I recommeneded your product on doh anexiety to my friend who has a passion for dogs and makes money with it. You are right you can lern liking somehitng more but you have to have a bit of that before you jum in

@cashcow I agree I also look for specific leaders that have established themselves and have a proven record. Thank you for an input.
