Hello,

I have a strange problem concerning my site www.1ststockinvesting.com.

First of all it sometimes shows an error and the worst is I cannot log in into my admin area:
http://www.1ststockinvesting.com/wp-admin/

What can I do?

Thanks and regards

It may be one of your plugins. I'm not a tech, so don't do this expecting a miracle cure, but this is what I've done in the past when this happened to me:

Using your FTP client (assuming you have one - if not, you can do it in your cpanel), rename your plugins folder in your WP installation to "x-plugins" (just rename it, it doesn't matter what).

    Then try to login.

If you can login, you know it's a problem with a plugin (or plugins).

Before you do any of that, contact your webhost to make sure there isn't a server or database issue.

Just took a look at your site; it may be your simply-rss-fetcher plugin. You could use the above technique and just try renaming that plugin's folder.

    Hope this helps.

Oh, and make sure you have backups yadayada before you do any of this.

Awesome, glad I could help! This thread was kind of funny and frustrating at the same time because many people offered similar advice (as if they didn't read the previous replies and just say, "Ditto."

But there were a couple where the responder obviously didn't know a lot about the situation: For example, "deactivate plugins and then re-enable one by one." That's great...except for one thing:

The OP said he couldn't log in. You cannot deactivate plugins if you cannot log in. Right?

Right in some situations but maybe not on this one. He couldn't login using http://www.1ststockinvesting.com/wp-admin/ which was blank/with errors and not redirecting to the correct login page. If he used the regular login link http://www.1ststockinvesting.com/wp-login.php which was working fine, he would probably be able to login and deactivate the plugins without the need of FTP.

Another technique I have used when all else failed even after tackling the potential plugin issue is to download a copy of Wordpress to my computer. Then using FTP re-upload all the files except the wp-config file so you don't delete your database.

Always has cleared the problem and saved me lots of time investigating the problem. Of course if you have a plugin causing the problem you will need to first follow the advice above for temporarily disabling them.

There are two plugins that are doing it.

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /mnt/web3/12/09/51206909/htdocs/1ststockinvesting/wp-content/plugins/simply-rss-fetcher/srssfetcher.php:52) in /mnt/web3/12/09/51206909/htdocs/1ststockinvesting/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 868

I'm pretty sure however that it is your RSS Fetcher ^^.

Did you recently install that? does it require you to change the file permissions somewhere? That's almost what it looks like..

    Hey

Seems like an autoblog to me.

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /mnt/web3/12/09/51206909/htdocs/1ststockinvesting/wp-content/plugins/simply-rss-fetcher/srssfetcher.php:52) in /mnt/web3/12/09/51206909/htdocs/1ststockinvesting/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 868

Delete the plugin from your server, then try to login.

    Karan,

Wouldn't it depend if the Wordpress would then try to draw code from there, getting him a missing error?

It really is easier just to rename the plugin folder. There is no moving files. You'll be able to login, most likely. If that works, you know it was a plugin. And it's very likely that it's the rss fetcher plugin that we've all mentioned.

So, simply rename that plugin's folder and you're done. Now you can log in.

Once completely sure it's a plugin issue, delete the offending plugin from your ftp client, rename the plugins folder to "plugins" and you're done.

      Hey Caleb.

Most probably no. While creating and testing WP plugins, I usually get these kind of errors. I just rename/delete the folder, and continue to my WP admin successfully.

If you can't login because you can't see the login area (I see the link you posted gives a blank page) then try this link http://www.1ststockinvesting.com/wp-login.php/ which at least gives you the option to enter the access info). If the problem is that you're getting a blank dashboard after logged in, then you'll have to remove/rename the plugin by FTP.

Login to the FTP account, and move the plugins folder (in wp-content) up to the root (above the domain.com), then you should be able to login, though you wont' ahve any plugins. Looks like there is a glitch with the plugin. YOu may need to update it, or find a more recent plugin that does the same thing.

    Good luck

Hate to pour cold water on this one: but this plugin was last updated quite a while ago.

Requires WordPress Version: 2.1 or higher
    Compatible up to: 2.7
    Last Updated: 2009-2-8

Given the changes in WP since version 2.7... it seems likely it needs a little maintenance.

Log into your site with FTP and delete all of plug-in folders.

Reinstall your plugins with the most recent versions.

It is your RSS Fetch Plugin that is causing the error - Try disabling the plugin and see if it works. If it still doesn't work, try disabling all the plugins and then re-activate them one by one - and keep checking your website to see which plugin is causing the error - and then disable that plugin. Find another plugin to do the similar job for you instead rather than the one which is causing the error. Hope it helps

If you already know which plugin is causing the problem then the solutionis to rename or delete the specific plugin. Deleting or renaming the plugin folder is not the best option in this instance.

Renaming the plugin folder is only required if you do not know what is causing the problem - deleting it all together is the last resort if all else fails.
