How much would you offer someone for this site?

All I know is that the site has been around for more than 2-4 years, well established with lots of content, and receives 50k visitors without advertising per month.

He has lost interest and wants to sell, its not monetized at all.

What would you offer him?

    Hello,
not monetized can mean a very good opportunity for you, do not buy unless you have a plan to make money on this.
Let the web owner throw a price at you as he may be happy to get any money after not making any.

  • It really really depends.

If it was a FFA site, means next to nothing. If it was Bill Gates personal blog, might be worth more. Do you have any details?

Definitely ask him to give you a price. And while you are waiting for that, do some research and make a plan to monetize the site.

    - Find some affiliate programs in the niche
    - Find out what AdSense pays in that niche
    - Find out if there are any CPA offers you can promote,
    - Etc.

This is the best investment I have seen in ages - For just $1.00 you can get 4 coaching sessions - And the coaching is from internet marketing legend Chris Record.

Thanks so much for all the replies, here is what I know.

      - he had the site valued at few places, results ranging from $1200-4000.
      - I actually emailed him about using some of his images and content because he has good content.
      - I'm only interested in one portion of his site really, the site is a massive collection of just about anything news related, SEO, blog related topix, etc. Its a mishmash of stuff. The portion I'm interested is generating 50k per month of unique visitors.

He caught me off guard with his offer to sell, I wasnt really shopping. So I might buy for the right price. But, at the same time I have a few other projects that need to be wrapped up before I can get to this one.

I think I have a plan in place to monetize the site since its in the same niche I was researching when he made the offer. 50k unique visitors a month could build a huge email list.

Also make sure they didn't just drive junk traffic to it for a few months to make it look like they get a lot of traffic. See where the traffic is coming from.

50k per month actually sounds low by my figures, I have been researching this niche and 50k per month would be a great place to start. This site has been around for atleast 2-4 years, I use to visit it regularly.

I'd ask for traffic statistics, how the traffic was generated, whether the traffic was targeted, etc. I'd check out the traffic source(s) very carefully to see if they are sustainable and targeted, especially if this person is wanting a lot for the website.

All depends on what the niche is. Generic "traffic" isn't worth much. Going on the limited information you provided I would say $300-$500
