Free report or Cheap report?

I have created a meaty 30 pages report as a starting point in a niche.

But I am confused how to use it?

Should I make a list by offering it for free?

or

Should I make a list of pre-qualified prospect by selling it for very cheap like for 3$ or 7$?

That decison, my friend, is entirely yours. If you offer the book free of charge, you use it as incentive to build a list. If you sell it, well you sell it.

That is a very good question. I'm looking forward to input from others here at the forum.

Let me ask, where are you planning on selling/giving away this report?

FREE - this is seemingly a starting point for building your list. People love free. A recent experiment showed that people are undecided what price to pay for similar products - in fact they tend to go for the middle most price - but as soon as it is free the strike goes up rapidly.

You can do both really. If you want a list of buyers then you are better off selling it for a small price. However you can also give it away on your end and have others sell it for you where they get 100% profits. So take your pick you can benefit both ways.

    WAIT!!

Before you do ANYTHING, please answer the following questions...

    1. How many pages is the report?

    2. Do you have an AR series already set up for backend offer for your report?

    3. Do you have a great squeeze page

The reason I ask this is because I think you should start building a list, but only if you have set it up right.

With the report, I honestly know for a fact that people are hard as hell to convince even just to get something for free nowadays. However i will say this, if you have an extremely short report like maybe 10-15 pages, I'd say give it away after you set up an AR series for a higher priced backend product.

Depending on how much information is in the report, selling it might be a better option.

The reason is simple, MOST people will just not read a 50+ page report they got for free. And besides that, offering it for free would lower its value. I've seen my products sell even better when raised up from $7 to $17.

If that's the case, then I would suggest giving away a chapter with some great content and creating an AR series to buy the full report.

Hope that helps, if you need any more clarification feel free to ask questions.

1.Report is 30 pages long, including introduction and some legal stuff.

      It has 5 chapters.

      2.NO

3.Not great! but think would do the work.

I think I would make a sales page and price it for 17$, and see what happens.

    Both?!

Give away 20 pages (or 3 chapters) - and charge for the rest.

Selling eBook will help you earn money and also laser targeted buyers list.

BUT, Do Not forget to doing it like this

You may NOT use this report as give away, sell or package in any form. This is for your personal use only and may NOT be distributed to others because you DO NOT own any rights to this report.

The problem with giving away reports is that it is useless unless you have a plan as to how to use your list. Remember a list becomes worthless if they stop responding so know that you want to do with your list first.

If you have other ebooks coming out, or even further ebooks in the series, then giving it away free is a interesting business method, but if you striggle to write books and you are not sure how to handle your list effectively then perhaps selling it makes more business sense. The money is not in the list - its in the ACTIVE list.
