help with coupons!!

I am doing some offline marketing for a few clients currently. A few of them want me to promote a gift certificate or coupon for their store. Like $20 for $50 worth of products at Mulhal's for example. I will put a buy button for the gift card on the website using Google checkout. That's what the one customer has as an example.

The problem is I haven't figured out how to do the rest so that each gift card has a unique number so it can be tracked. How to complete the process after buying. Ideally the gift certificates would be emailed as we want to get the customer on an email list when they buy for future offers.

I am looking for a program or software that can automate the process. From designing the gift certificate or coupon, to creating the unique tracking number, to making it either downloadable or saving it into a jpg file to be emailed.

Does anyone know of a software or program that can do this easily?

    I know that many shopping carts have coupon/gift certificate functionality built in or at least have some sort of extension available that will do it, but I don't know of any standalone app that will do it.

    If you're really need something, let me know. It would be easy to develop, and I'm always looking for an interesting project.
