Website ranking above Amazon, Cnet and others?

Hello,
I've been doing some keyword research in micro niche finder and have think I've found some keywords. They show up as low in the strength of competition. But the top ranked sites are like Amazon, Cnet and others that review or have a sales page for the product. So does this mean my keywords are essentially junk? Since it seems that it would be hard to out ranked these sites. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

It's easy to out rank an Amazon page.

    Google ranks "pages" not "websites"

The Amazon website home page could be a page rank 7 with thousands of back links pointing to it. - Very little chance of out ranking this.

But an internal Amazon page ( i.e a product page ) could have a page rank of 0 with no back links pointing to the page. - This could quite easly be out ranked.

If you're using Firefox get yourself SEO Quake. I use IE most of the time & use Firefox to do competition research with the SEO quake add on which is free.

With SEO Quake you can better gage the strength on the first page of Google.

Look at the page rank of each page.
How many back links are pointing the the page.
Look at the domain name age.
Look for keyword in domain name & page title.

    Hope this helps

As Barry said, it isn´t difficult to outrank amazon for a product. For me, an amazon top 10 position, is generally a good sign to take the keyword and build a micro niche site around.

But doublecheck the strength of the amazon product page, they do deeplinking for a very few products which are high converting or bring a huge amount of traffic.
