Good Web Video Editing Software?

I've been using Debut to make some basic videos and I just want to do basic video editing to them, like chopping off the first 5 seconds of the clip and occasionally doing that blur out a piece of text here and there.

Are there any good free options?

Both of these free software packages that come standard on PCs and Macs will suffice for basic (and even beyond) video editing. There's no need to look further beyond this if all you're planning on doing is simple editing.

Depends what you are looking for and how good you are with editing.
Moviemaker is free and usally you have it already under Program Files.

Sony Vegas is really good, if you are looking for special editing, effects etc.

If you want just basic stuff, go with Moviemaker. Very easy to use

I am looking for a server side video editing software, wherein my subscribers can edit their videos through my software platform and not through a computer-side, standalone editing software. anyone know of any?

Just remember that Windows movie maker does not come with Window 7. Microsoft recommends the free download of the latest Windows Live Suite, which includes Windows Live Movie Maker (WLMM)
This it what we use and is perfect for our needs and by the sound of it yours to.
