I am finishing up my MBA and I am currently taking a strategy class.

Its amazing how so many themes corolate between high level strategy and IM.

I would say for the money, IM has taught me more per dollar about making money and about life, granted grad school is very expensive haha.

Either way, I noticed to actually make any money with IM you need a solid mindset. I like to tell myself "No matter what today I am going to complete XXX"

Just my two cents one two powerful education systems.

    I find this amusing.

I dropped out of undergrad. My business runs well without it. I put plenty of food on the table for my wife and I, the bills are paid, and I'm as happy as can be!

Regardless, you are right - nothing beats real world experience...NOTHING.

Which is why it's so important after anyone buys a course they need to try and implement it. The lessons learned from implementation is far more powerful than just studying the theory!

Not really...I don't own fancy cars or live in a big house on the beach.

I just sell my products. I understand what a market wants and how to sell to them.

        That's all I do.

The rest falls into place with enough experience and trial/error.

I am in my early thirties and started going to school 2 years ago. I make more than enough from IM now, and by the time that I graduate I can't see myself going to work for someone else to make less.

I believe that education helps you in all aspects of your life. It can be formal education, self taught, online, or talking to the old man that lives down the street who has seen it all. Every little bit helps. I think that a lot of my success online comes from more than a decade of being in the sales business.

Well, I can tell you from going to grad school that it did not to my fortune add one penny. It was in fact very expensive. Also, I had to work very hard to pay back the money. In our internet you find out fast how to become a success. Like a rich person told me it is sink or swim.

Therefore you must learn to swim. Sadly, many prefer to walk along the shore bank than to drive right in. People have a lot of fear to overcome. This is why many do not attain or gain success.

Grad school is not good training for life as you already know, but it will feed you theory which often does not work - and here is a typical case.

A friend was selling software and he had a pile of boxes of OFFICE 97 TRAINING MANUALS which he needed to move. In school we learn to cut prices. Well, he did that and sales did not increase. They instead went in reverse. People thought his product was junk due to the low price. OK so he goes against market logic and increases his price and sells out the whole warehouse full of boxes in not time flat and there you go.

I haven't even graduated high school and I make more than even the highest paid person in the highest position in the high school I went to.

You could probably grab 4 of them and add their income up and they still wouldn't beat me.

It's up to you and what you think will put the most money in your pocket the fastest and easiest.

Follow your heart and how you feel, it will never do you wrong.

Never discount the benefits of a higher education. Sure, law school taught me how to be a lawyer and to succeed in life, but more importantly - it taught me time management and to increase my work ethic at the same time.

My experience there has paid off 100 thousand times in the online world.

IM without decent education is like fishing on a canoe.

IM with a good education is like fishing on a shipping boat.

Which one is better for you?

I'd take IM with a decent education over IM with a good education with huge student loan debts that will take your entire life to pay off.

so you would rather do mundane repetitve task like link building than hire someone to do it?

with IM you should be able to pay off the debts or whats the point? You don't sound too confident with your IM abilities otherwise you would'nt have said that.

when I was in uni, I was taking 'Business' and interestingly, when I asked my peers what they'd do after they graduated, the typical answer was 'Get a Job of course!'

that's the only reality they can fathom.

Back then, there was a module called 'Entrepreneurship', and even THAT was optional!

And don't remind me of the professors who haven't even sold a pencil in their lives... ;p

Business people doing their MBA etc. take more theoretical stuff, but most of them learn to have a better mindset, because it takes a lot of dedication and work to learn all stuff, pass the tests and pay for all of it.

People making money online often lack this attitude, cause they never learned what building a business means. That's why the big IM guys make mad cash, because they understand you have to take your IM business like any business in the world.

Long story short: Successful online entrepreneurs know there's only one magic, secret bullet: diligence!

In my opinion to have success as an online entrepreneur it's better to visit the army to learn having a fighter attitute and iron discipline

OP, congratulations in advance for finishing MBA.

There's no substitute for sound education. Money is not a replacement for knowledge.

I have learned more in IM than I learned in my Uni business degree (in marketing).

If I were to do it all over again I wouldn't have gone to Uni!

Then again, maybe uni gave me the basic foundation to be able to understand and apply the business principles I learn with IM. Okay maybe the basic courses would have been worth it (1st year only).

"Where" one learns critical thinking skill is far less important than the fact that one "does" learn critical thinking skills.

Your MBA should give you expertise, knowledge, and an open door to jobs which will give you additional expertise and knowledge - that you can then use with IM to gain a competitive advantage.

Moreover, many of your 'strategy' classes should involve higher-end business development than what you see here.
