Hi Gang

Something came to me a few days ago, something that I think can help you see how people search for things. Rather than typing it out, it was quickker for me to do a 2 min video. You're welcoe to poke fun at my stupid English accent!! ;-)

Cheers,
Phil

For those folks who hate video as much as I do:

"Look at the drop down box in the Google Toolbar to see how people search -- and check it out on that of your friends and relatives (with their permission, of course)"

Thanks Zapseo, I wish I could have put it as concise as that in my video, oh well, practise makes perfect. I would be intested in your opinion about video actually, I was under the impression that video was the way forward for copy? Would you say it's still best to include the traditional copy text style as well as video? Rather than just video. In other words, could having just a video landing page turn a lot of people off?

    Thanks

Phil -- that's like asking "will a headline pull better?"

it depends upon the video, and depends upon the alternative.

It depends upon your "pre-sell" -- IOW -- there's going to be SOME text on the page, and perhaps some text that you used to get the people to the sales page.

It depends upon your relationship to your list.

It depends upon how compelling you make the video.

There are a lot of people who love video.

      Why?

Well, one could presume it's more "passive."

It could also be an association with entertainment.

It can also be that there is more to keep the brain occupied (activity, as opposed to text that just sits there.)

I have seen sales pages where audio/video simply re-iterated what was on the sales page. That, I think, works pretty well.

But you have to weigh that against the "novelty" factor.

How much of the attractiveness of video on salespages is due to the novelty?

Hope that gives you some ideas to explore.

        Hi again

Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated. I think from that, the best point taken is using video to re-iterate what is said from the copy rather than just completely replacing it. I understand also that some people cannot view video at work so this could also be another reason for having text as well. I agree that for now having video has a novelty factor, but as video gets more common, I wonder if we will start to see convertions coming back down again?

        Thanks,
        Phil
