Do I have What it Takes to Write PLR?

Hey Everybody,

I am a newbie here on the Warrior Forum. This place is fantastic! I am learning so much from all of you - wow. Great stuff.

Anywho, I am up early this morning reading Tiffany Dow's PLR ATM. I'm only on step two, but its great so far. I am taking Tiffany's advice about asking somebody to give me honest feedback about my writing. So, here I am.

My question to you is when I set up a PLR shop, would you buy my PLR? If you could take a look at the sample I provided and tell me what you think, that would be great! You can also find me on EzineArticles if you'd like to take a look at more of my work (my author name is Elizabeth Dennis).

Thanks so much - I appreciate your taking the time to help!

  • Hi Elizabeth,

Absolutely you do! Judging by your sample, you are an excellent writer - the kind that could command $20 or more for an article.

I also sell PLR (and buy if for my own personal projects) so take it from someone who knows - your PLR would be top quality if it's all written like that.

    Go for it!

    • Lee, thanks so much for the kind words. I had come across your site a while ago when I began my PLR research - it looks great. I wish you continued success!
  • Hi Elizabeth, I too am setting up a PLR site and my problem is the pricing and should I specialize in one or two areas. Tiffany Dow's $1 per page seems a little low to me, but I must do more research. As for writing, I have written all my life, stories, novels, screenplays - just about everything. I do promote my own website, blog and write for EZA and Squidoo. Thus far, everything I have written about has been my choice. I think the hard part will be writing about something that I don't want to write about particularly, and has already been beaten to death! I am avoiding Clickbank prods for that reason. I'm sorry, I just find the stuff in there so cheesy. Your writing looks good BTW.

    I wish you luck!

    • Wimbledon, your passion for writing jumps of the screen. I will admit, I can't write a story to save my life. Although I love to READ fiction, the side of the brain needed for story writing, I don't have.

It certainly is easier to write about things we know, huh? Though I must say I really do enjoy researching topics I know nothing about. My Grandpa always used to say "you learn something new everyday." - ain't that the truth!

Best of luck to you too - I look forward to taking this journey along with you!
  • Your writing is very good. Almost too good for PLR. The sample article would be usable without alteration.

$1 per page for PLR isn't too bad. Remember, you may sell the exact same thing 20 times or more. Sell a 5-article pack for $5 and do it 20 times. It works out to $20 per page. That's ~$0.04 per word, or about four times what many writers get marketing their writing services to other marketers.

    Regarding your sig...I love it.

    • I think you are probably right John, now all I have to figure out is what my first pack should be about, there's so much to choose from. Perhaps I will offer my first pack for free in the WSO to give people an idea of what I can do. Hopefully they will sign up for my email list - take the bait so to speak!

Thanks for your help. Happy Hooking!

  • Hi Elizabeth

You definitely have what it takes to create top quality PLR articles.
Good luck on your new venture.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I think your article is great overall, and you've done a good job with the keyword loading. Are you writing from scratch or spinning?

Putting on the picky hat, there are a few instances where your sentence construction is not quite spot-on (lacking commas in places), and I noticed one slightly odd word choice:

"will certainly exasperate your Raynaud's symptoms"

Exacerbate or aggravate would be more usual choices than exasperate (IMO), but it's not an incorrect use of the word, just slightly odd.

That said, if you can turn out work of this standard relatively quickly, I think you should certainly look into article writing as a means of earning some cash. Best of luck
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • PLR articles provide, in most cases, very broad information on a topic. So yes, if you have patience and knowledge you can write PLR articles.

    To your success,

    • John, You don't know how giddy I am this morning hearing feedback like this. Again, thank you so much for taking the time!

Thanks for doing the math on the PLR packs. I'm still so new at this I could easily be missing something - but it seems to make sense, right?

      Fun to Write, thank you!

Shane, I certainly will! Thank you.

Ruby, how funny - now I can't take my eyes off the word "exasperate" - and you are right on! Keep wearing the picky hat.

No, I never spin articles. I've tried it but found it takes much more work to re-write a spun article than it does to research and write an original.

I appreciate your help - thank you!

    • Sorry Tryto, I forgot to reply to you in my last post. Though I think I have this multi-quote thing down now.

Thanks for taking the time to read my sample and for your encouraging words - they are a great motivator! All the best to you.
  • Hey Elizabeth,

I just read your article and it's concise, well researched and written so yes, I think you have what it takes to write quality PLR. And you're in good hands with Tiff! So get going!
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Hi Elizabeth,

Your article is nicely done. You definitely have what it takes to be a PLR writer. Good luck with your PLR business!
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Elizabeth I too like your writing style. You don't use fluff, you make good valid points.

You have done a great job and I am sure there are many members that will be more than happy to purchase PLR from you.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Hey Elizabeth
I enjoyed reading your article. Very well written.
You will do well with writing PLR.

    All the best

  • Elizabeth, you have what it takes to be a great writer, regardless of PLR.

In fact, with study and practice, you could probably be a great copywriter as well.

    Are you available for hire?
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Hi Elizabeth,

Your PLR article sample is very good! It's clear and concise, not a lot of just fluff, and informative. So yes, I would say you have what it takes to write PLR. Would I buy PLR from you based on your sample? Yes indeed!

    Cindy
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Good article! Concise, informative, and content-filled.

I did notice one mistake, though -- Reynaud's instead of Raynaud's once. Also, in the first sentence, "are" is unnecessary.

Just very minor things that, clearly, most people don't notice, so I really think you're potentially a top-tier article writer.

    • Zabrina, thank you!

Greg, I agree; so much ramble-y filler-y stuff out there! Thanks for the encouragement. Right before I popped over here to the Warrior Forum, I happened to be on your site per Tiffany's recommendation. Your writing looks fantastic too! If I end up outsourcing at some point - you're the first on my list to "call." Best of luck to you!

Thanks lazy boy - I WILL go get 'em!

Thank you! Researching really is one of the best part of what we do. I love wrapping up for the day having learned something new - its a great feeling.

Cindy, it means so much that you took the time to read my sample. I can't thank everybody enough on this forum who have been so welcoming and generous with their time. I'm looking forward to "giving back" where I can.

CCMusicMan, I just might be soon. I'd love to discuss your needs...

Cindy, actually I did all of the research on Raynaud's as a result of my own fingers growing numb quickly. I figured while I had all of my findings sitting in front of me, I may as well write an article about it!

      Thank you Leanne!

Kim, so great to hear. Thanks.

"PLR Business" - I like the sound of that.

Alan, I just finished Tiff's course. What a great purchase - I am more than ready to get started!
  • Hi Elizabeth,
I'd certainly buy PLR from you (if it was in one of my niches).
And I'm raising my glass to toast someone else who likes to do research! Yay!

As far as having what it takes - You have to keep writing and putting out packs, and that takes discipline. Plus it makes sense to write for the niches that are the most popular; the ones that are crying out for fresh content, right? So that means writing on topics that might not be your favorite.

But it's not enough to just write the PLR articles and hope people will find your site and purchase - you have to really work on the marketing end of it.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I know Tiff's PLR ATM is awesome.

    Wimbledonwoman,
You don't have to sell your articles at $1 each. I raised my prices to $1.25/article and have actually seen an increase in sales. I believe Nicole Dean's EasyPLR also charges more than $1/page. As with any product, test your price points.

    Good luck!
    Peggy

  • Great job Elizabeth! I love your writing style. I will keep an eye out for your PLR offers.
  • Hi Again,

So, I did it - I launched my PLR site and I am ready to start writing!

What a HUGE motivator all of your positive comments have been. I can't thank you all enough.

I've named my site "Modern PLR" - I thought the word "modern" reflects well the type of PLR I will write - fresh and original. Plus all the other good names were taken.

I'm working on my first pack right now called "Healthy Digestion". I would love to hear from you guys what topics you need. So, if you get a second come by ModernPLR and let me know.

    Off to write.....THANKS AGAIN!

    -Elizabeth
  • Elizabeth,

Any time I find myself looking forward to reading the next sentence I find that an indicator of a talented writer. That's the case with your sample. Crisp, informative, concise and reabale.

    I will buy.
  • Hi Elizabeth

    Well done for getting started.

I could put on my editor's hat and say "lots of run-on sentences and bad parallelisms" but you have to remember that PLR should be changed by the buyer, so these are only small issues (opps, a run-on, lol). The buyer should be taking what they need from your articles and not simply re-posting them as is.

So concentrate on writing articles with lots of info and stop worrying about "the small stuff" as they say - good luck.

    • Hi Elizabeth,

Now that you're an expert/professional article writer, How about some professional guidance for this newbie. Including Research time, may I ask how much time should it take to write a piece like this?

I hope you're still reading this thread I really would like an idea, if its ok to ask this.
