It sounds like you haven't really done a whole lot, and your excuse is that you have a "day job". I don't mean to be harsh, but you said you HAVE made a little bit of money out of internet marketing, which is more than 95% of those who try can accomplish!

You know what separates the most successful from the those who fail? The most successful never give up. They just keep trudging along.

Stop spinning around in circles. Its not profitable. Stop buying WSO's. They won't make you any money unless you apply what's inside them, and it sounds like you're not willing to put in any elbow grease. There is no "magic bullet" that will suddenly make you tons of money without any work.

If you want to go the SEO route, you have to have backlinks. Its just that simple. You could buy your articles from a reputable writer for around $5-$8 a piece if you don't want to write them yourself. Articlez.com is a great resource for this.

Complaining about not making enough fast enough won't get you very far. Sucking up your pride and getting your hands dirty will.

I think its more a matter of newbies not realizing exactly how much work & pre-planning goes into starting & owning a successful online business before you can even think about making money!
This probably because they get sucked in & caught up in the of the unrealistic expectations created by all the get-rich-quick merchants out there today.
it took me a helluva long time to get off the ground and it was a massive learning curve & I made plenty of mistakes (and got suckered into buying a lot of "crap")

Unfortunately is nearly impossible to give any specific advice without knowing what you have been doing for the past 2 years. You don't need to pump out hundreds of ezine articles unless you are trying to rank in an ultra competitive niche. Even if you did, you could do it by writing a 2 or 3 a day.

You don't say what the problems is. Is it traffic, or conversion? Hopefully you have analytics running to track your traffic.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[2676609].message }}
  • you are in a better position than me. i haven't made any money lol. i am at the learning stage. from what i learnt in my last few weeks on this forum if you already made some money, why not scale those techniques to get more money out of it? there must be something your doing right to be making a return. magnify that thing.

    just my 2 cents

    Agreed with LacyJ

There are faster, and less time consuming methods to make money, but those require monetary investment.

You make money 2 ways - investing time or money.

Regardless of your approach, you must ALWAYS invest SOMETHING - whether it be time or money.

I recommend working a few more hours, everyday as soon as you get off work, writing articles until you start getting money in. Aim for 4 articles a day.

But here is the thing: You need to treat this like a business. Do NOT even THINK about spending that money you are making. Instead, reinvest it - outsource article creation - double yourself.

Now you will have yourself and someone else writing articles. The amount of money you will make will rise dramatically.

Reinvest that into someone else...now you have 2 people besides yourself writing articles. Now what?

Start expanding, pay for traffic, get split testing software to compare what website version makes the most money...hire someone to do more backlinking, invest in further education, start building a list, etc. etc.

This is the key to making money.

Give yourself a year doing the above, and believe me, you will be able to quit your job!

Yup - haha. But, at least for the first WSO, 20 minutes a day IS some time. That is something!

And 2k in one week is indeed doable - but still requires either some time or money!

Since you work a day job, you don't have time. You have money. So use money instead of time.

Pay people to build up P.R. for a good .com domain in a lucrative niche while you work. When it's on page 1, spot 1 on Google - retire. Just make sure the niche is lucrative, the domain is a .com, .org or .net. and there's enough traffic in the #1 spot to set you for life.

Then sell the domain for millions. Good luck.

It is difficult to know exactly what you have done and what is your knowledge level. To succeed on line requires the right mindset and a written down plan wit a time line.

Stop jumping from one thing to another. Pick your niche and concentrate on it. Have a product of your own that you can sell and if you have been doing this for 2 years I hope by now you have created your own product.

Knowing what you want and having the right mindset will help you achieve. Stay focused on just one thing. It requires dedication and persistence to be a success. If you make a mistake, learn from it and move on.

From what you wrote, you have spent two years online:

    1) buying wsos and working day job
    2) writing to make some money
    3) spinning articles in crcles.
Plus you'd love to pump some articles - which you haven't done.

Doesn't seem lile you've been doing much to make anything in this industry. You are writer, create your profile in freelance sites. There are many other sites where you can make good money just by writing what you love. Google writing, or search the forum and you'll get tons of them. You can even advertise on the warriors for hire section here.

Making money online is easy, but not when you just sit and worry about your day job. Stop buying wsos, they won't do you any good if you don't apply something.

You made small money before, you can still do it big. All the best.

Proper keyword research. If you are not doing proper keyword research to start with you are likely not getting to the front pages of google or anyother search engines. There for you will not make much money at all. If you do the proper keyword research to start with it will make it to where you need less articles to make money and profit more in the long run. Since you can produce more targeted content for less competitive keywords that produce more income per click and or are willing to buy what you have to offer. So do proper keyword research before you do anything. With out doing your research first your are destined to fail. Which is the main reason why 95% of all internet marketers fail in the first place.

I would also like to add one thing. QUIT BUYING AND START APPLYING. You need to apply one of the methods you have learned. Work with that one method for a few months every day. If it does not work then move to another method for the time being but come back to it later. Since one method may be how to build links. You need to remember it could be upwards of 3 months before that link is even tracked through out the serps.

Even seo takes time nothing is full proof and nothing works instantly to bring you a flood of traffic and buyers other then PPC. However if you are using PPC then you are taking away from the profits you could be making if the page you are sending them to does not convert. Which once again is setting you up to FAIL.

I agree! and I also think "newbies" must stay far away frm PPC until they've tried everything else & have mastered the "art" of effective keyword research (and other IM basics)

Be patient make money online is not just one night rich, you've already make some $$$ it means that you know how to make money online, you just need to scale up your current effort. If you don't have time to do everything yourself you can outsource your projects to freelancers. Try to build your list so next time you have another offer coming you can send it to your list. Keep doing what have already make you money and have some fun

I said I know what your problem is.

You are looking for an opportunity to make money online. Honestly, you might well be skipping from opportunity to opportunity whereas you don't have a plan that works for you every time.

You need to build an online business and not skip from opportunity to opportunity. You need to gain momentum over a single plan that works for you to build an online business empire.

You need to focus on one business plan that works for you. I see your problem is time management as well as focusing on one business plan that works for you which you don't have.

I sent you links for reports that would definitely resolve your issues.

It will help you build momentum in online marketing, it's not some junk - the reports are a REAL time saver. Print them and read them.

Yes, what Ronak said. You have to stop looking for the quick fix and build a real business. Whether that be a product (ebook, software etcc) that you sell or even just a website that you build up and earn income from affiliate sales and adsense.

You can't stop working on it and run off and do something else just because you don't see success overnight. Sometimes it will seem like you are working your butt off and you don't see any progress but you must have faith that your plan will come to fruition (Oh, yeah, forgot to add that you need a plan).

One other thing. You have to treat this like a second JOB. That means that you have to work at it even when you don't feel like it. Even when something good is on TV or when your friends are going out or when it is Saturday night. When you are making your goal money, you will have time to slack off, but until then you need to put in a lot of hard hours at it.

I went to your site and had a peak. In your list of packages you do not have this:
Newsletter Writing, Press Releases, Landing Pages, and Auto Responders. However that is not the problem.
You do have it on your header, but not in your packages.

I imagine your a good writer and that is what you are selling? Your talent. I do not see that on your site. I do not see salesmanship in print.

I also do not see a form for subscribers.
Are you building a list at all?

My advice, you need to market your service.

    1. Build your house list.
    2. promote your list.
    3. Offer good content by creating a newsletter and probably a blog

Take the services that you offer and use all of them yourself. Prove to the market you are what you sell.

Its just about being consistent, like gym you will get no where doing it once here, and once there - do it 4-5 days a week and you see results.

I work full time, I always have to go away overseas, interstate always, and have spent the last 6 months doing solid 5 hours per night just on IM and I am certainly seeing the results.

In my option you will NEVER have enough time to build your own backlinks or articles and this is why you should outsource as much as you can afford and after a while you can re invest in more outsourcing.

The best advice I can give is get ONE system and stick with it. I highly recommend mark ling as a model to follow, even his free content is enough to get you making money.

Thats some good advice (i dont know who mark ling is) but the stuff above I mean...

it's not easy to make money online or everyone would do it...there are lots of things you can do/learn that will make it easier...

if i was you, id choose something your passionate/ good at... start a blog, do some kw research, rank for those words, build a newsletter, then start working on a product to promote to them after you build trust/relationships.

send them good content a couple times a week...you cant fail really

If you are not sure about anything with IM just google it, or watch a youtube video its the best way to learn. Ive been doing IM for 3 years, and still learning.

Mark ling runs a site called affilorama - he teaches affiliate marketing and still builds affiliate sites and he has many affiliate sites which he shows you, so you know he actually knows what hes doing - not just in the IM niche to money grab.

I have brought so many courses I cant remember, and I have always got 1000x more value from mark ling and each site I build using his methods gives me great ROI, actually I havent built a site yet using his method that didnt work. Im not affiliated with him at all nor am I in the IM niche, I just really think high of him. Ive tried other methods and they work, but Ive just found that for affiliate sites what he teaches is the best system so far.

Like this post above, get a site going either something you love or a ever-green market (just see whats selling on clickbank) and keep at it, providing GOOD content, not junk.

I dont come on this forum much anymore, I used to be here a lot but your thread caught my attention because I was once struggling.

The best advice I can give, from my experience is:

    - Dont spend too much time on this forum, honestly its a killer.
    - Stick with one system, test it properly if it fails then cut your loses, if it works do it again and again
    - Dont try anything fancy, do what works
    - Keep everything simple, there is no need for complicated formulas and there is no such thing as "the secret method".
    - Start now, get home and get to work, work weekends, just try this for at least one month and you will see results.
    - my best advice though is - OUTSOURCE, because you just cant do it all by yourself.

What is your business model? Are you doing adsense review blogs? It's hard to help if we don't exactly what you are trying to do. However, if you have made any money at all you are successful. If you can make 1 dollar you can make 1000. You need to figure how to scale your business.

      kea55,

Decide on what you really want to do, find a handful of others who are already doing what you want to do, and follow their lead.

        Hi, Kea.

If you've been making money on articles already, all you need is more traffic to your site.

It also sounds like you've been looking at internet marketing products. Was that o find out how to better advertise your writing services, or was it to find a way to also sell your own products.

You amy want to do both.

Go over to Fiverr.com and look for people who will post classified ads for you for $5. Or they will review your service in a video, tweet out to their followers of let people know on Facebook and Myspace.

How about writing an article on ezine articles to your service. Or...

Write an article and submit a guest blog to sites you think need that service. Check out kim Roach's blog at buzzblogger.com to help you find free traffic and high content sites.

Choose a profitable niche. Put up a blog reviewing two to three products that offer a solution to a problem your products will solve. Offer honest information in the reviews. Write two articles each evening after work every day, and submit them to 6 or 7 of the top article directories, linking to your review site.

That's 14 articles each week, posted on 7 article directories. If you write compelling titles and good articles with an irresistible call to action, you will get traffic and a few sales (several if you're lucky). Invest your earnings by outsourcing others to do the work, as suggested above.

All of this should take you about 1 1/2 to 2 hours per day, tops. Take action! You will see results if you do so.

You should start reviewing the methods you use for making money. What model are you using, who's method are you following and if they are succeeding. I think the core component is your marketing. Have you reviewed the way you market your site?

First of all I would advise you to stop buying eBooks and courses. You need to take massive action to achieve success

Pick a good niche and start writing articles, reviews and create content around them.

(shameless plug: If you plan to promote the woodworking niche, drop me an email and I can help you out. *look at my sig. :> )

They've mentioned and I will back it up. Article writing is one of the procedures you can do to get most traffic that will result to income. I read in one book that having a good content is a good way for your readers to keep on coming back and be your potential income sources in the process. Make sure to broaden your network for better traffic.

    • I checked out your website, and in my opinion, the first thing you need to do is double your prices for your articles. Then, market a little harder for a while. After that, you'll have some more money flowing in and you can put more effort towards IM.

I make a full-time income from writing--it's extremely doable. So do that, then quit your day job and spend your free time taking action.

      Cheers,
      James

I took a look at your website and my first sugestion is to get rid of the black background and replace it with white or a pale colour, and then use black text on it. As it is at the moment some of the wording on it is unreadable.

There is no way I would pay $12 per article when I can get them done on this forum for less than half that price.

Here is how to scale up your site to make money,

Drive traffic to your suite Daily!

Find 3 or 4 good article writers that will write articles for you for $3 - $5 per article depending on the amount of articles you have then write for you.

You then charge between £6 and $10 per article, this is a 100% mark up

Result- You do not have to find time to write articles, you buy the articles from someone else and then sell them on. You act like the middle man.

You seem to be confused and worried. These two things will not solve your problem rather they will make it more complicated.

Please be focused on one thing, stay on it until you make a living out of it. Relax, take a deep breath and retrace your step. You are the best person to find out where you got it wrong.

Here is what I wish I would have done when I was in your shoes.

    1. Decide how much time I had to give to IM.
    2. Make it hard for myself to buy WSO's and other training. (hide credit cards, etc.)
    3. Get some one that has had more success than you that will hold you to not buying stuff and to working on a plan in one direction.

Gary Vaynerchuk likes to say "Stop watching #$&%ing Lost!"

Are you watching TV or spending any time doing useless stuff like that? Then you have a negative habit and you can reverse your situation by using that time to do some marketing or whatever you have decided to do.

The real problem that we all have is behavior. We aren't behaving in the way we need to behave to get the results we say we crave.

Start slowly and use anything you can to make this marketing stuff more fun. Music and all that stuff. Over time you will be using your time better and rewiring your brain.

Like Tony Robbins says... 80% is psychology, 20% is strategy and methods.

Above all, refuse to give up on your dreams!
