How to Sell as a Software Affiliate

Consider a site like this: Spyware Cease - Anti Spyware Made Easy. Free Spyware Scan
The index page does not try to convert the prospect into a buyer right away. Instead, just like a lot of other software I see on Clickbank, it tries to get them to try a free demo first. Worst of all, the Clickbank cookie might expire by the time they feel like purchasing the full version?
So should I point them to the index page and let them go get the free demo or should I point them to this page instead?:

Any software affiliates out there that know the best way to do this?
Should I put an upsell and write my own copy and send them to the purchase link instead of the free demo link? What about in email campaigns? Is the free demo link better for emails?
