Write ebooks to sell the reprint rights?

Is this a realistic business model that youre average joe can do? By that i mean someone on there own, not a huge site selling thousands of different books.

Could anyone recommend any material on making money as a product creator?
Thanks Warriors

    Jason Fladlien has an amazing product creation course I enrolled in this week that's basically on selling ebooks to marketers, though he also mentions publishing on Amazon, selling PLR rights, and so on. If it's still open, it's here, but it costs $500, so don't sign up unless you're actually going to put the business model into practice or you'll just be wasting money on courses. Same goes for any product, really. Even the best course won't automatically make you cash.

    I would not sell PLR right away. Sell the book yourself, get some positive feedback on it for a sales page, then put it on CB for affiliate sales. After a while, if sales slow down, then use your CB and personal data for a salespage for selling the RR, then in a while sell the MRR, then the PLR.

    I would only sell the PLR after you've made quite a few sales and have maybe started or completed a 2ND product.

    You don't want to compete with yourself.

    And many, many people on WF ARE product creators, check the posts and the WSO pages.

      I don't want to seem harsh, but if you are going into the writing business (such as creating ebooks as your products) then you will have to polish up on a few things:-

      youre = you're

      i = I

      there = their

      I'm sorry if you feel that I am 'nit picking', but if you are building a business, it's best to start or 'get off' on the right foot IMHO.

      Just my thoughts and good luck with your venture.

      Jeff.

    mpred,

    Welcome to the forum, but I don't think you have done your homework. Some of the material written by Allen Says (the forum owner) talks about writing ebooks not to sell them directly, but to sell reprint rights. That is how he made a good chunk of money, and this does not require thousands of different books.

    FYI - you can read some of that in the War Room.

      Thanks kindsvater, that's what I was getting at, I read a friends copy of the book Allen wrote - that's what sparked my interest, what I was getting at (which I didn't explain well) was whether one would need a reputation like his or a large online presence to make it work - its not something i have heard about before and I'm trying to get away from the affiliate road.

    I've done it before while expecting viral traffic. Apart form that, still, I don't see any importance of selling eBooks with reprint rights.

    I have gone this road and have created quite a few products with the aim in selling a limited amount of copies with PLR.

    There are definately pros and cons with this model:

    PROS:
    Your product is more valuable.
    You can charge more for this kind of product.
    You will make huge surges of sales in the beginning as everyone wants a new hot product before their competitors.
    You can insert some links and such and get viral traffic later on.

    CONS:
    The amount of sales you get will drastically decline once other resellers get your product.
    People will claim authorship of your product, so it won't be exclusively yours anymore.
    It will take you more time to create some aspects of it, like promotional material and such.

    Overall, you can give it a go. Actually I am busy creating a course around this business model of mine, but after shooting all the tutorial videos, I don't know if I should release it as a product yet. Maybe at a later stage.
