How many of you have yet to make a single dollar online yet?

There is no shame in answering this question honestly?

How many of you have yet to make a single dollar online yet?

If you haven't - what do you think is stopping you?

This is not a sales ploy - I will not ask you to spend a single dime with me or anyone else.

I am just curious.

  • hmmm. well i started off in ebay. like a year ago i wrote a guide on how to add free pictures, videos and templates on ebay. as well as a wholesalers list amongst other things. it was a success..i made like £50.but in 3 months.though this was a low return i saw it as making money from nothing so that is why i joined this forum. it gave me motivation after seeing the potential of selling on line. i joined 1 month ago. i am at the learning stage and have not made any money. mostly because i haven't done as i do not have money to invest. but i am hopeful and determined. i am looking for a job to fund my IM ventures as we speak.

You do not have to have money to start there are several ways you can start for free. Yes it makes it easier if you already own a domain and hosting. However it is not mandatory to start with. Simply pick an affiliate product and sell a few copies till you get the capital needed to get things off the ground a little bit.

I literally started with nothing a few years ago. I had just lost my full time job do to the recession. Collection unemployment which only paid a 1/4 of the bills. The only thing I had going though was I did have some money coming in to help get things started and that I had already paid my hosting fees and had one domain that was not yet into profit status.

You can get started with out money you just have to spend the extra time and put in the extra work. So please do not use the excuse that you do not have the money to invest at the moment. You do not need to invest any money you just need to start. If you do not try you can not learn if you can not learn you will never get to where you want to be.

I have made money online, but I would just like to answer your third question. I think that the two reasons that most people are not making money is very simple:

    1. They do not have enough time.
    2. They have enough time, but either do not know what to do, or just don't do anything (this is probably the more common issue).

You need to actually DO something to make money online. Reading these forums is great, but at the end of the day, reading is not going to make you any money. You have to promote something to make money.

There is no "get rich quick" method. At first I was amazed about people making so much money just on autopilot. But, it isn't really autopilot. There is a TON of time and effort put behind something before it becomes an autopilot source of income.

People are looking for the next "secret" method, but there really isn't one. You can truly read more than you need to know about Internet Marketing just on these forums. But there is also an information overload. I would highly suggest just picking one method and STICKING WITH IT. Otherwise you will do what I did. Sit around reading more and more and expecting the money to starting rolling in. IT DIDN'T. I had to start creating websites and promoting them before and money came in. It took hours of hard work and research. But in the end, it was definitely worth it

What Tim probably wants to know is why the people who don't make money think they're not making money.

You and I are of the opinion that they don't take action, but we're not those people. Those people probably think something else.

One of the ones I hear reasonably frequently is "I can't make money online unless I know the secrets, but all the products that would tell me those secrets are too expensive."

Tim, if I were targeting a new product at this market, I would avoid the "guru-bashing" approach and take the "marginal marketer" approach - the gurus want to help you, but their time is expensive. It's the marginal, semi-successful marketer who wants you not to know the secrets, because they're afraid of competition. The "evil guru" approach is just way overdone.

I'm not ashamed to say I've yet to make a dollar online. Every business starts with zero.

    What's stopping me...?

Nothing. It's just taking me time to build the knowledge & skills to create my internet marketing business.

One thing that is slowing me down though is direction. I have learned alot but I now need to put a solid plan together & action it.

There is no doubt that I'll make money online, it's just a matter of time & making best use of it.

I have an unstoppable determination succeed.

      I love it.

Here I am asking a single and simple question and yet out of all the post there is just a single person who has answered it.

      Barry -

Totally understand information gathering. I did that for years. It was a waste of time. Not the first couple months, but everything after that should of been spent doing instead of learning.

Let me ask you, have you put a deadline on yourself to stop gathering information and start doing it?

I doubt there are many people who are ready to start building an online business after only two months of learning.

It's taken me around 5 months to build up enough knowledge & skills to now start building my online business.

It's also taken this time to choose which methods of making money online I'd like to go with & figuring things out.

When you enter the word of internet marketing your faced with so much information & methods of making money online it takes time to make sence of it all & find out the “good” information you need & figure out which method of making money to go with.

It takes time to find out the things you'll enjoy doing & the things your good at.

I'd like to build several income streams but I'm going to start with Amazon associates. I'm going to build a plan & work it until I'm making as close to £1000 a month as possible then start working on other things I'm interested in.

It's now time for me to build a business plan.

Over the next couple of months I'm going to work on the plan & hopefully this time next year I'll be making a decent income online.

I don't want to make a few dollars here & there I want to build a secure online income.

You started with adwords I take. Way to listen to a guru who is already making a few thousand a day. You should be focusing on one thing to start generating free traffic. Write articles and lots of them. Submit videos and lots of them. You are making far to dificult on your self to make money if you keep spending money on things that are not needed to get started. I got my entire business started with a mere 150 for the host and a few domains a few years ago and have made that back 100 times since then.

There is no secretes to making money online. You can take a domain name like zzers.com and make it the most powerful domain for the keyword marketing. So long as you do things right and build enough links. I am also willing to bet that you are spending hours upon hours surfing traffic exchanges. If so this is your major downfall. Traffic exchanges you will be lucky to convert 1 out of ever 20k visitors. So do not waster your time. If you have lifetime memberships what ever take the credits they send you every month and apply them to your site but do not waste your time surfing it is not worth it.

Eh? russ, you've done list-building, article writing, made squeeze pages, done blogs, wordpress, etc, etc, etc and you have yet to make a dime? Literally you have yet to make a dime? That's very odd. You should've made quite a bit just by accident doing the things you've done. A bit disturbing. Have you had any of your methods or work inspected by some experienced folk who might be able to help you out? There's no point in going down a path blindly and getting nowhere while losing money. You may need some assistance and get some coaching. There are very good coaches on here ready to help you.

      Hey Russell

If you have been putting all that effort in, let me ask you a few questions:

      1. Have you got a website/blog/lens or some online presence?
      2. Does it get traffic?
      3. Have you put affiliate links and/or Adsense on it?

Now that is not a complicated or even a very good plan, but I fail to see how you cannot make money if you just do that!

If you are stuck with the Site (step 1) either learn how to do it - you can get 1 click Wordpress installation with many hosts - or just pay someone to do it for you.

If you are stuck with the traffic (step 2) just get on with submitting articles with your link pointing to your site.

If you are stuck with Adsense (step 3) you can get help on the Google Adsense site itself.

      Just do it!

When you have started, you can refine the plan. The first refinement would be to start building a list.

      4. Get a pop-up embedded in your site
      5. Offer a sign-up inducement
      6. Send your list quality content with your recommendations embedded.

That's not a great plan either, but you can't fail to increase your revenue if you do it well.

If you get stuck with step 4, there's help at Aweber. But it's really just a matter of copying and pasting a bit of code.

If you get stuck at step 5, there are loads of great freebies you could offer on every niche you can imagine. Just do a bit of Googling for free downloads.

If you get stuck on step 6, pay someone to create your content if necessary.

Now, when you have done all the above, come here - to the Warrior Forum - and start asking direct questions about how to improve each step.

Step 7 - Improve each Step

For example, try asking something like these:

How can I get more traffic to my Blog?
How can I get more sign-ups/conversions?
      What monetisation methods are best?

      Keep doing this!

Keep improving, watch your income grow and one day you will be wondering how you could possibly have never managed to make that 1st dime!

      Now get cracking.

      And good luck my friend.

      Will

Before I made my first dollar, I used to think it was because I didn't have enough people in my list/visiting my website and I thought it was just a game of numbers. I would post a blog, send an email out and watch the clicks but no purchases. Then I would try to expend my list and get more traffic to the blog.

Now I believe I didn't make any money because i was half-a$$ing everything and hoping that the higher numbers would solve the problem. It's because I would copy a few paragraphs from the sales page and place it on my blog as well as my email. Now i take time to research the products and convince the people that it will HELP them in the email, as well as on my blog, before they hit the sales page.

I get more sales from my smallest lists doing it like this, than I di with my bigger lists the way I was doing it back then.

      I hope this answers it.

Except for article writing, I haven't made a dime online yet, and I don't consider my article income as online income.

    What's stopping me?

    1. Not enough technical skills.

    2. Not enough money for software tools.

    3. Information overload...I've bought so many reports and courses I don't know where to start.

    4. Doubt. Sure, it's worked for others, like gangbusters in some cases, but it probably won't work for me. If it does, it won't work for long.

At least those are the excuses I console myself with whenever I start thinking about my lack of success in making money online.

Then I read a story about a 15 year old girl in Iran, where PayPal is blocked, and many other necessary websites are blocked, who doesn't speak English, and who also faces a a large number of other seemingly insurmountable obstacle, who is nevertheless making money online.

Then I read about a blind musician who is now making more from his IM projects than his music tours.

Then I read about a 26 year old single mom with 4 kids, two jobs, who didn't even know what HTML means, who now makes 10 times as much as she did at her job after only 2 years of IM.

And I realize that I could come up with a hundred reasons, but they would be nothing but excuses.

      Why not?

I think a huge mistake people make is that they overlook the obvious.

If something is making real money for you you may want to seriously consider doing more of it and finding ways to improve what you do so you can make more money out of it with less effort.

Thanks, Andrew. Maybe I should pursue turning it into a full time thing, but it's hard to see how it could become one.

For one thing, I despise it. For another, it doesn't pay much, and it only pays you once. I want to find something where I can put a website up and get paid over and over for it. Now, if I can find the right niche, and the right approach to monetize that nich, I can put my article writing skills to work for myself.

But from my experience, it's very difficult to find article buyers who will give you steady work, and are willing to pay halfway decent. But maybe I'm doing it wrong.

      Interesting.

Lots of reasons for people to say why they haven't made their first dollar.

The limiting belief that two months isn't enough time to get started

Information overload (been there done that)

The inability to make the "right" choice of business models

This is all very interesting for sure.

What I will say is each one of you has something that someone else would pay for.

Do this - take 5 minutes (shut off the TV for once) and write down all the talents/skills/abilities that you have.

      Can you setup a blog?
Do you know copywriting, backlinking, etc?

      Make a list.

Then post it here. Some of you might do this, sadly a lot of you won't.

      The choice is yours.

        My strengths:

        -- striking good looks

        -- super cool personality

        -- magnetic aura

        -- empowering mindset

        -- aggressive marketing

        -- sincere

        -- immune to jealous criticism

        -- smart as hell

-- about 1,000,000 more strengths but those would be considered bragging

        Weaknesses:

        -- technical stuff

        -- I forgot the rest

Reasons most never make any money:

        -- Their mindset and self-beliefs

        -- HOW TO

-- work ethic (you got to work till your eyes bleed)

-- this is just a hobby (or entertainment) to them, not serious enough

-- they suck at copywriting & conversions, but continue to write their own copy when they have no business writing their own copy because they suck at copy and have no business writing their own copy because they suck at copy and cant write copy and cant convert so they waste their time -- for years -- writing their own copy because they suck at copy and they'll never make a damn dime in this business until they finally realize they cant convert and they need to stop writing their own copy because they suck at copy and have no business writing their own copy, but cant afford to hire a copywriter, so the cycle never ends for them... until someone else writes the copy and gets them enough traffic to tweak the copy to finally get the thing to convert, then finally they make money and then finally they "get it".... and they STOP writing their own copy because they suck at writing copy.

-- oh, and they dont know how to convert or write copy

-- They never focus on traffic and conversions... but yet, rather, chase schemes and magic button loop holes thinking those really exist.

        -- Striking good looks

I can write articles all day long (although I despise it)

That's about it, as far as strengths. But I'm working on other aspects. Like building blogs. I can install WP & plugins OK, but when it comes to graphics, images, editing PHP, inserting contact forms, putting up sitemaps, or whatever, I'm lost. But so was just about everyone else when they started. I've been talking about IM for over four years now, and it's about time I get serious.

        Make a list.

Then post it here. Some of you might do this, sadly a lot of you won't.

        The choice is yours.

        Tim
I have made money online, but nothing consistent. Now I wish to create a consistent full time online income and I know I'm capable of that.

So what's stopping me? ME. Plain and simple. I haven't done what I need to do to promote myself and virtually no one knows I exist. I'm working now to change that.

As for my list of talents, skills and abilities -

        1. I'm a good writer. I've written for print publications for years.

        2. I know WordPress inside and out. I can do blog installation, theme customization, plugin installation, etc.

        3. I have a working knowledge of SEO, PPC and social media.

        4. I can do basic graphics - headers, ad blocks, banners, etc.

        5. I have an intermediate/advanced knowledge of marketing. I ran a real estate marketing business for several years.

        6. I can do keyword/niche research.

        7. I can create videos using Jing, Camtasia, camcorder, etc.

Thanks for this post Tim! In thinking about my skills and abilities, I'm reminded that I know more than I give myself credit for.

This has been a motivating exercise.

I have gleaned valuable information from all the replies here. To answer the question "what makes an online business successful?" – From my experience there are 3 factors which determine the success of an online business: good luck, hard work and an inborn talent for doing business.

Yeah ... I would disagree with all 3 of those. And here's why.

      1. Good luck. Yes luck does have a small part to do with it but you know what makes "luck" happen? Work. Was I lucky to get involved with a group of marketers who each make 6 to 7 figures a year? Yes and No.

Yes I was lucky to get invited BUT if you can't produce, you can't stay. Internet marketing is a "what have you done for me lately" type business.

Yes you made a dollar yesterday, but what about today?

      2. Hard work? Nah, not interested. You don't have to break your back to be successful. My guess is I put in about 20-30 hours a week of actual work. Sure I do a lot of other things BUT that isn't work.

Plus what's so hard? Learning new skills, creating new products? It's not like we're shoveling crap into bins or anything.

      3. Inborn talent for doing business. I was born with the ability to breath and to poop. I had to learn everything else. I am not a natural at anything - everything has come from years of study and practice.

If you're not talented at something either let someone else do it OR practice until you're happy with it.

I've been doing IM for the past 6 months, and I have made money from affiliate marketing on Clickbank, though I haven't yet made enough sales to get physical check.

I know this wasn't asked but I will assume it's a logical extension: Why I haven't made more sales yet? I will answer that I'm still learning. I do take consistent action and I believe that I'm building a foundation. I've just started building a list, and what I need to work on now is driving traffic to my squeeze page and traffic conversion, which will mean I need to up my copywriting skills. In due time, as I stay consistent, continue to learn and provide value, the money will come.

Jane, take this with a grain of salt. I went to your website. It is plain.
It is not appealing. Study other sites in your niche. Model them, don't
      copy.

I stop counting your keywords after 15, reason why, all of your keywords , are one word. You don't even have the keyword that your site is targeting together.

As for traffic, you are not targeting keywords that people are searching on, to get them to your site. I think you have heard of LSI ketwords before.

You have been online long enough to know what they sre. If not just Google LSI and you will get the answer.

Take off all the keywords you have now and do your keyword research
and only target 3 to 5 keywords.

      Hope this helps.

I have no shame in saying that I have not made a single sale online yet. I am still learning. I have made it past the stage of just reading wso after wso or ebook after ebook and I am actually trying to implement things now.

I am now working to stop jumping from thing to thing online and just focusing on one thing now. It is hard though

I am finding it very difficult to make money online. I just keep paying out but not seeing any return...yet.

Fortunately, I have made money from internet and if I have to conclude the reason why people keep failing in internet :
    1. do not focus. buy 1 ebook of affiliate marketing and before implement it, they move at google adsense...
    2. no investment. the most important investment in IM is knowledge. newbies just want money without considering that it needs basic knowledge suc as : simple HTML, FTP and wordpress..

I'm lucky since I have a background in IT - I didn't spend anywhere near as much getting my sites up and running as I would have if I outsourced it. I wonder why people say that they sell things on Ebay or they do article writing or something like that and then discount the money they make from that as being money earned online? Correct me if I am wrong but I thought the question included all methods of making money with the emphasis on "online" - well if you make money as a freelancer, or an article writer, or sell your bits and bobs on ebay you are still making money from an online source - if we all took that perspective and appreciated those dollars, instead of dismissing them because they do require work then there would probably be a lot more success stories on this forum

    My 2 cents

I probably should've worded my post better but i was typing off my iPod at the time but you're right in that it's still money made offline. But it was things i no longer wanted and could've gotten some money off ebay for though not to say I didn't appreciate the dollars. Remember, you're talking to a guy who gets exited for finding a quarter on the ground

Just that I wasn't really trying to pull an income from it. It was just things I didn't want anymore.

Making money online is getting easier every year.

But people expect too much in the beginning i.e earn $15 billion dollars with my 2 click push button software.

    Setting realistic goals is key.

My first $100 day was a huge milestone for me and I noticed how easy I got to that point.

I've spent more money in my IM business then what I've seen in a way of 'return', but that hasn't stopped me from continuing to grow my own home business into a six-figure monthly business, which is something I KNOW I can make happen!

As for "Not enough time" excuse and/or syndrome, that alone can and often is nothing more then an excuse, where the leading cause is "not motivated enough to want to better their current financial situation", so to justify someone from NOT doing what needs to be done, they use the "I don't have enough time" excuse.

As for most folks not making money online, outside of the "No time" excuse is because many of them, myself included from time to time, get off-track and start forgetting things, thus the main thing we need is a 'daily activity list', one that's easy to follow and outlines WHEN AND WHY certain things need to be done each and every day.

Once a beginner to this wonderful game we call Internet Marketing starts to see even the slightest hurdles start reaping benefits (first sale, first subscriber, etc., etc.,) I'd more then bet my life that whatever excuse they had BEFORE said accomplishment occurred, they'd start to MAKE TIME just so they could start moving towards seeing the next milestone happen sooner rather then later and would instantly know what process to follow to make that next sale or sign-up occur.

Its important to at least take the time on a course you purchased and go through it thoroughly. DO the actual steps and learn from it, and make sure to understand it as well.

Many fail because of this it self, they believe it is something thats not going to be worth the time or money. But thats why when people have questions, they come here. This WF has helped me so much.

Just remember what you have, don't focus to much of what you don't have and look at yourself closely where you want to be in the future.

Well, I can say with a little sense of dread, that I have not made a single cent online. I've just started to get stepped into the whole make money online thing, for about six weeks now.

I've already set up a test site and have a host account, but bought a few too many guru products with how to videos.

Look I'm a little fearful at this stage, so I've been procrastinating for at least three weeks.

My biggest excuse was I didn't have a product to promote that would make money without thousands of people already been down that path.

I tried a feeble attempt at promoting at YouTube with a product; much to my surprise was being flogged to death by so many others. And to boot their product promotion was better than mine. I think I've come to the party late.

Anyway, even got a message from Amazon affiliates programme staff asking why I haven't yet to refer a sale yet.

Anyway, yes I haven't made a cent online. In fact I've paid more for guru products than made any income online.

I will get into gear very soon, sorry for the long boring post.

The nice thing about making that first dollar, is that it proves that it works, and it gets you excited. Then it's just a matter of doing more tweaking, and refining, and doing more of what works.

Ironically, it can be a setback too. Everyone talks about their first check and how excited they were to see that $1.50, or whatever amount it was. My first check was for something like $369, from an affiliate sale. Naturally I was excited, but I was stupid too. The first thing I did was remove the adsense from the site and put up more affiliate links. Then I just sat back an waited for the money to roll in. Well, I didn't get another affiliate sale for a year. When I put the adsense back up, it started generating about $25 a month immediately.

It took me about 6 months, before I gave up waiting for the big affiliate sales to start rolling in on a regular basis, so I lost a good amount of adsense traffic, but I did learn 2 very valuable lessons. The first was to not rely solely on a single monitization option and react quickly if it isn't converting. The other was that sitting back waiting for the money to roll in was doing absolutely nothing for me. That first big sale made me complacent. I should have been creating backlinks and driving more traffic to might site during that time. More traffic=more money.

Hi, all. It has been a long time since I started blogging and making web pages. Now I help others with their web pages, and I am learning all the time.

I have sold things on Ebay and on Amazon and learned a lot. You do not have to pay to join these sites. It is a good way to learn about e-commerce and what others are doing online too.

I am on Twitter and Facebook too, and I think these sites help me learn more about what people want to hear about and learn too. I think if you start having a helping mentality it can give you a leg up too. What can you offer others? What do you know about that others might not know? These are questions that can help you zero in on your niche.

I have made some free ebooks, and plan to make some to sell soon. I also plan to open a shop or two online this year. It is still a learning curve, but I am still excited about working online.

I do make money online, but it took a long time to make anything like even a part-time income. But I have read from others that they took a long time to make any money, too, so don't be discouraged.

You can get great free advice online. Most marketers and SEO people give out free ebooks to get started. You can easily read these pdf books for free. You can also get an audience by making articles at places like Squidoo, HubPages, and Blogger blogs. Some people that have good free advice are Steve Weber and AnnaLaura Brown. That is my two cents.

From someone who has been studying IM for far too long....I have deduced it all comes down to four thing:

Study: Join Successful IM Newsletters i.e. people who have been around the block
Focus: Visualise and write down your ideas/plans
Take Action: Write articles , record audio/video , create products , etc
Promote: submit articles , take out adverts etc

All these things can still be done for free , all it will cost is time.....

Whatever you decide to do , don't take 12 years deciding to do it....lol

There's a lot of good information in this thread alone to get newbs started in the right direction.

I started by doing all the wrong things but was happy when I got that first sale. Now I'm working for myself doing this. My advice is simple.

Pick something that you have a passion for first. You don't have to know how to market it, but you're less likely to give up on it.

There's a enough free resources out there that you don't need any money to get started. Free Hosting, HTML Editors, Graphics Programs, Forums like this (don't need a "magic" book), etc.... If you outgrow your free host, pay monthly. You can find reliable hosts for around $3 a month with a promo.

If you write articles, write them. but put them on your own site. Start with one page. Start getting your site out as early as you can. The article submission sites will come later. You can use adsense on your site to pay enough for your host as your site grows. Write more articles. Use them as additional pages and link them together. Stay on one subject. Keep growing your pages.

WOW! Google indexed your site and you start getting a little traffic. You have a good amount of pages, getting small amounts of traffic, and Google is making 70 cents a day. Now you start writing articles (on the same subject still) and you submit those to the article submission sites. You make sure you link back to your original site from each submitted article. Traffic starts getting better on your original site. Google is now making $3.00 a day. Hit the forums for link trading between sites. Do this for your original site, AND your submitted article pages. Keep submitting more articles. Add a few more pages to site 1.

Google decides they like your site and raise your Page Rank (PR). Makes it easier to talk to people doing link trades. Keep submitting articles. Google is making $10 a day. Traffic is out growing your free host and it's time to get a paid host. You should now be on your way to being profitable on a shoe string.

BTW: If you can't write articles like I can't, pay someone $25 to write you a good one. I recommend find someone already writing on hubpages or similar site that Impresses you and send them an email. You would be surprised at the willingness they have to write.

...flogging a dead horse comes to mind...
I tend to disagree with you but I guess its based on personal experience. Yes, my market is saturated. Yes, I have probably one of the most competitive markets to be in. No, there's plenty of demand.

My passion got me here. It provided the drive to look past the logic of fighting insurmountable odds to make it in the dating industry and as a marketer, to have my sponsors calling me for marketing ideas because I rank higher than they do.

Sure I don't make millions like them, I don't have an affiliate program of my own. But, as I stated, this was started on a subdomain freehost without a domain name. I'm just saying you don't have to be an expert, nor do you have to have the knowledge to IM. That will come in time.

And if you have the sense to read through all the Bulls**t you won't have to spend a alot of money, hence, no disaster.

I always say, "When someone says you can't do something, prove them wrong. Look at all our innovations."

When they say you can't fix it, tell them "Someone had to make it in the first place".

Be smart about whatever you do and you should have all the tools you need to succeed.

I think the biggest hurdle to many is of a lack of solid focus and if they do have the focus, its a lack of something else, traffic generation, actionable skills, afraid to implement e.t.c. Yes, I have definitely made money online but know that even I would be more consistent with the right focus and implementing the 'money tasks' first and foremost.

This is not a sales ploy - I will not ask you to spend a single dime with me or anyone else.

    I am just curious.

I've made $60 USD so far, and wasted probably 15 times that much. Although in saying that I must also comment that I procrastinate way to much. I'm just starting to cotton onto the idea of actually following through with any one thing. I tend to jump from here to there a bit too frequently and that usually means I get no real result.

I'm lucky in that my wife understands my 'madness' as she too is attempting to set up a clothing business online... although the 'Internet Marketing' side of thing totally eludes her.

So far I've written a few ebooks, I've done the whole eBay thing and also looked into setting up a drop shipping retail business that sells pet supply products - that one was really hard and expensive to get going... ergo, I stopped.

I've spent a LOT of money on various eBooks and guides myself, so I know people DO spend money on these type of things - I mean I'm pretty stereotypical I guess.

I hope things get a little easier on my learning curve that I perpetually climb.
All comes down to follow-through with me.

    Cheers
    Mark.

    Hi Tim,
I would like to share my experience about making money online.

First of all, I just started making money online on the 29th August 2010.

But I started learning internet marketing on 19th March 2007.

What happened to me during this 3 years?

In the beginning, my friend invited to attend one other IM workshops in Singapore.

I attended, was confused and he invited me to join an affiliate program called Success University.

Looks cool to me in the beginning as I am a big fan of personal development and self improvement.

But the monthly subscription is no joke man, $39.95 per month and I was paying them for 8 months trying to figure how to promote the membership using article marketing.

For the whole year of 2007, I was struggling to learn what is keyword research and article writing and article outsourcing and subscribe to article submission service which costs $79.95 every 3 months.

Still, I didn't make money online.

    What is the problem?

    I thought to myself.

So I began to buy lots of products.

    Still nothing happened.

On 26th Oct 2008, I was so frustrated that I contacted one of the Singapore IM Expert for an one on one coaching session which costs me $100 per hour.

He taught me about List Building and offer to set up a marketing system for me for $200.

I accepted it and started driving traffic and made 1 sale.

Yes, I have 100 subscribers and 1 sale on March 2009.

But it didn't help me much.

My 1st mentor was so difficult to get him at that point of time and I got frustrated again.

I started to look for answers.

I started to buy tons of WSOs.

    Nothing happened.

So I began to search for a 2nd mentor.

And I found him and signed up to his mentoring program on 26th June 2010.

Before I signed up, I make the most important decision in my life.

I told myself, no matter what happens, I am going to make this work.

I will take whatever it takes to make passive income online.

I take 2 months to set up my marketing system.

On the 29th Aug, I started to build my list.

And as of today 7th Oct 2010, after one month of hard work implementing what my mentor taught me, guess what?

It works! I have a list of 2400 subscribers and make $900 selling my own products.

See this carefully, I make most of my money selling my own products.

That is the secret to success in List Building and it works for me.

It is not just determination and hard work.

We need to have somebody to guide us to make things work and right.

We must admit that only through professional help from mentors, it is almost the sure-fire way to success instead of re-inventing the wheel.

I would to quote what Jeff Walker once said in this pre-product launch videos, "Model What All The Successful People Are Doing And Don't Re-Invent The Wheel, Build Your Business, Make More Money and Enjoy More Freedom!"

And the model is product launches. Internal product launch and Jv launch.

But before doing any launch, you need to have your own list first.

Start building your list and launch your own products.

It is the baby steps that you take and never give up that takes you to your destination not will power or affirmation.

It is those baby steps that you take, each and every single day.

Never give up till you achieve success.

I think if you understand the importance of " the numbers game" you will find your IM revenue increase. Im new to internet marketing but im a seasoned ebayer. If you grasp the concept of the numbers game then you may find it easier to start achieving IM earnings.

Everyone wants to earn 6 figures a year but not many people know how much you would need to earn per day to do so. So these people end up chasing 6 figure income ideas/ebooks and never get off the ground because of the amount of work involved to produce that income in a little amount of time, although it achievable to earn 6 figures off the back of one email. If you had 100,000 subscribers on your list then you could make £100,000 a year pretty easily but its going to take you time to build that list and to be able use it effectively.

The easiest way to achieve a 6 figure income is to break it down. You need to earn £274 per day every day to make 6 figures a year. Now your probably thinking £274 a day is a feat in itself let alone earning that every day. So what do you? You break it down even further. If you have a regular job, that might make $50 over a 7 day week already, maybe more so thats brought your 6 figure daily down already to £224. So add that to IM techniques and strategies and you can start to get closer to that £274 target. Article writing is way you can make money online and is talked about alot but probably overlooked a lot by newbies becasue the earnings can be small but it is free to do and you can make money from it instantly. Lets say every one of your articles makes you £1 each day which is pretty achievable the more articles you write the more money you will be making each day. So if your wrote 100 articles, each one making £1 a day your already making £100 a day and that is everyday after you wrote them add this to your 9-5 earnings on top Your starting to get closer to your your £274 a day target. Just by learning how to make an article earn you atleast £1 a day will give you the potential to achieve your 6 figure income just by one IM technique! You can sell CPA offers off the back of your articles, bring more traffic to your websites and build a list and this is just by using FREE article websites. You could make £1 a day per article just by google adsense earnings thats without anything else thrown on top.

Rather than looking for 1 way to make 100,000 grand a year break it down in managable chunks, This will give you direction and also give you achievable goals making you want to keep on with your desire to be an internet marketer.

Now Im very new to new in to internet marketing but it is very achievable as a newbie to be earning decent money in a year. ( I bet you'd be happy earning £500 a week from a passive IM income )

It will take some knowledge, time and effort to achieve this. You will also be introduced to the snowball effect. To see people been doing things for months and not earning anything is quite horrible to see. If you looked for smaller ways to achieve making money online that you can multiply over and over again ( like article writing ) then you can start earning some money and then A LOT of money.

Then once you've got some money in your back pocket you can start playing with the bigger boys and Using CPA, Mailing Lists and starting ad campaigns to be making big money.

( Didnt mean for such a lenghty first post )

@macchiavelli I completely agree! People expect way too much in the beginning and quit before they see any results. People just dont have the patience these days! They need to understand that everything is a process. My first $100 was a great feeling, then my next $1000 was even better! But you know, it takes an excessive focus and requires you to think of this as a business instead of a hobby. Otherwise you will make hobby income.

Making Money Online requires a someone who knows what theyre doing to teach you and you follow it then you'll experience similar results.

I'm sorry I didn't read this whole thread but I'm posting anyway. I'm making the transition from the adult industry to the mainstream industry (which is probably a taboo to mention on here, but I don't care) and I've found that the adult industry has taken a HUGE hit lately with several sponsor programs shutting down, too much free product offered, and now with the closing of epassporte, I cannot get paid from foreign clients.

Anyway to answer your question. I make a few thousand monthly from the adult biz but have yet to make anything from my mainstream sites because I am brand new to it.

I appreciate the advice and will try to incorporate this into my plan. It does seem to be a good place to start.

Xor87 that's great you not only have an achievable goal but you will also learn alot in making it happen which will in turn make you more money later on as you piece together what you learn.

If you remember that your goal is $50 passive income every month you could achieve this quickly. Many marketers on here could make $50 just by turning their computers on but were not at that level yet they have implamented many other things can give them instant cash at the touch of a button. Just start at the bottom and work your way up if you do this you'll get to making big bucks alot quicker than someone always looking for the next thing.

Now I could say $50 passive income easily achievable on Ebay which it is but that only because I know how. There are many ways to achieve $50 that you can expand on and make more and more. You just have to have a different way of thinking.

Just like I said about the numbers game rather than think of earn $100 one way could you think of 4 ways to make $25. $100 extra a week can pay for a lot of things.

Article marketing is a great way to start earning money online for free it is where Im starting to impament what I know. Because I've been learning alot about IM I know that I could make a decent amount of money from something that is a very basic concept.

Some people are saying that they haven't earned a single cent with their efforts. I've earned google adsense earnings within a couple of weeks of article writing on free site. I haven't used any backlinking as yet and I don't have high traffic yet and I've only just started adding affiliate offers to them in the last couple of days. So my earnings are just on pure writing. The techniques I know will be implamented very soon which should increase my earnings.

I started making money online by dropshipping but that was quite a pain since my there was a lot of things to take care of. Not just in the customer service side of things.

Which is why I moved to the more auto income side of things. Haven't made thousands yet but set to launch my own product soon so that should get me something.

I think the easiest way to make a first dollar online is via eBay. I think the upfront cost to post an ad is only about $0.50 cents and you can run the ad for 30 days so it is almost impossible not to make a sale for something!

Before I read every comment I would like to answer the opening question. I haven't made money yet. But, I looked at my post history and I joined this site (and the career field) on Aug 23, 2010.

I jumped in with both feet and bought an excellent program a little prematurely...but I will use it with a month.

I read a thread on something to do with "Desperation" in the title. The first post that hit me like a brick was by George Wright. Then the next post was by TheRichJerksNet. Between the two of them a light bulb went on.

So, I've decided to go at this with a multi pronged approach:

    1. Google Local (which I bought Mario Brown's program Thursday night) for myself and local companies for offline mkt

    2. a Clickbank affiliate program where the customer will come to my site and it will have various banner ads from CPA's

I'm determining domain names right now and hosting/sites will be live by next weekend. (I'm trying to do this all for under $60 for 3 domains and hosting for 6 months.)

Then, Travis' 28 day program to insanity or divorce goes into effect.

I dont want to sound like an echo but its true! It takes time and research to make money online. I have just started my own blog and have only had for a view months and made .13 cents...why?? Because i made hte mistake of getting traffic before i did more research on what it should be as far as layout, that was my biggest mistake.

I feel people starting out find it tough online because they will have a rat race job that take a lot of their attention away from their online learning. Then while they are trying to find a system to follow, they end up entering their email address to many lists.

Then the auto responder list trap takes place with the creative written copy takes over confusing the new people and all they do is spend money on each email received.

Yes this is from personal experience a couple years ago and finally I removed my self from all the lists and focused to find one system that was getting good feedback through forums. Once I found it I made a commitment to sticking with it until I made a profit before looking for the next system.

I followed through and still these original sites are making me residual income and I have not even touched these sites for the past year or so. Hmmmm sounds like I have some site updating to do!

I launched my own product 5 years ago when I did the original 'Underachievers Course' with Ed dale & Co. That site still brings me in a weekly income today (with no work to it). Then I went to affiliate marketing & adsense sites which boosted the coffers.

I gotta say though that what has hit the jackpot for me is Online marketing to Offline Local Businesses. I have a 6 figure business that employs 14 people in it and it grows organically now 100% via referral.

Anyone that has even the basic skills of online marketing should really give it it a shot.

I have made money online, but not with "Internet Marketing" as I believe it to be today. I have made a few sales on craigslist, following the ideas of it being a giant 24/7 garage sale to get rid of junk in the basement. I also made $40 years ago by signing up for free trials and getting paid for it.

I want a source of income that I can generate anytime, instead of just when I have something in the house I don't want anymore. So in my eyes, I have not made any money with Internet Marketing.

What is holding me back? I have always been a talented writer. In my younger years I was picked on and told I would never amount to anything, and that my writing was garbage. This is something that has stuck with me for years, and is something I have recently started breaking away from. In order to break this mindset, I have used my WF Blog space to create a blog about writing, and I hope to teach what I have learned, while building relationships that could lead to profits.

I do have a few websites around the web. An aweber account with a few opt-ins, a few bloggers that have been left to their own demise, and a squidoo page that is under par. The only thing holding all of these back... Traffic generation. I have yet to be successful in generating traffic, and that is also holding me back.

In the last two weeks, I have taken more action towards building my business than in the last two years. I created a daily checklist of things I need to work on, things I need to research, and a small bit of time to check the Warrior Forums for ways to get my signature seen.

I do Ebay. Studied for a couple years before I started making it work for me. Ebay is like my anchor but I'm tired of physical inventory. You have to really study Ebay to make it work for you.
Out of all the time of dedication to it, I wish I went into other areas of net sales/marketing.
physical inventory is a pain in the butt.

I do other offline "hustles" to pay my rent but getting started on Ebay with LOCAL sourcing is a good way to break into Internet Stuff. There is online training through Chris Malta's site "WorlWideBrands.com" which you have to pay for but their coaches are top of the line in making your business work.

Side note: Stay away from 'launches' before you here of reviews (real reviews not fake review sites). Don't give into the shiney object syndrome and become a marketing consumer.
Find what works, stick with people that get results and have a track record.

IMO there needs to be more TRUTH in this industry. Be the person that people trust and only stick with trusted people. There is so much garbage out there from people with 'launches' recycling old PLR crap to rake in dough, give you 2005's material, and split town just to get a 'list'. I'd say avoid them like the plague.

Was also going to say that once you figure out how to make money steadily doing one thing, branch out into another. Using the "multi stream" approach is key in this atmosphere.

I've made a little money from affiliate marketing, but I spent most of it on ppc. I haven't made ANY profit yet. I've got a product, a site up, and am in the process of trying to get traffic there. I think what's stopping me is not knowing what I'm doing, and just having to learn as I go. What I think is the right move, very well could be the absolute wrong thing. However, there's no way to know except by trying it and seeing if it works, unless you find someone to talk to/work with that has had success already.
