I can't believe I'm spamming myself!

Hi Warriors,

Recently, I've been getting a number of spam emails to my inbox. And it says they came from my own email address, even though I'm not sending them.

Not only is it irritating on my part, but the worst part is that other people might be getting them too, thinking that I'm the one who sent them (because my domain email is written there).

Would you have any suggestions to beat these spammers? I'd like to kick these spammers' asses, and what nerve they have to use my email.

Thanks,
Michael

I don't have an answer for you, but I did notice that I started getting spam from myself about three days ago. Should I put myself on my Blocked Senders List? ;-)

Meh. It's been happening to me for years and years. Anti-spam systems these days are a lot more sophisticated and the "FROM" header alone isn't all they look at.

That's because you're sleep spamming (it's a bit like sleep walking except when you're sleep spamming you develop a foreign accent...usually Indian or Nigerian.)

And this is the obvious solution!

Thanks, guys. Sleep spamming, haha, that's hilarious.

Actually I'm not worried about getting these spam emails in my own inbox. The thing I'm worried the most is that many other people might be getting these emails, thinking they're from me.

And I've been trying to keep a good reputation, all for nothing?

Is there any solution to stop these spammers from using our email address? Is there any danger of your host or ISP banning you?

    Thanks,
    Michael

        spam?

I've heard of one Spam arrest (I think???)....wouldn't that solve
        your problems?

        No aff links...

        Regards

          Hi Greg,

I'm not worried about spammers spamming my inbox. I'm worried that my reputation may get tainted, and I might encounter possible problems with my ISP, because they're using my email address.

Anyway, thanks for the comments, guys.

            Hi Michael,

If you look deeper into the source header of the email you will most likely
find that the email did not actually come from your email server.

One of the tricks that spammers use is to draw the info of where they are
sending the email to and to use the info as a cover for the actual email
            address it originated from.

Other people that report the email(if they were to receive it with your
name and site name)would only effect the original source email address
from where it actually originated.(The email they masked, theirs)

I wouldn't worry about it unless you find they are actually sending emails
            from your site.

Just because it shows it's from your site doesn't really mean it is coming
from it. Once again check the Header source code to locate the actual
email address from which it came and block it from your server.

            Hope that Helps,
            Have a Great Day!
            Michael

P.S. I've done this and it works well until the next nut attempts it then I block them to!

Hi Michael, check my post in the other thread for this same issue. 99.9% of the time they are not using your e-mail address for their spam messages going out towards other people. They're simply using the same address in the 'to' and 'from' field to have a better chance of getting around your spam filters.

If you start to receive bounced e-mails that you never sent, then yes, your e-mail address has been used for spam sent to people other then yourself.
